  1. I need a direct link because for some reason the CC application has decided that InDesign 2015.0 is the latest version it will download. It says it’s up to date and that there are no updates, but I know that it’s at least 3 versions behind. I’ve tried everything, including a complete removal, CC Cleaner, reboot, reinstallation but it just won’t see the later version. So I need to download it and install in manually.

I have the same problem – we have an enterprise account, and I always have issues with updating CC. My colleagues are running OSX Mavericks, I’m on Yosemite – they don’t appear to have any problems updating (neither does my PC), but I have been forced to clean and reinstall CC so many times that I’m now running the old direct download versions for everything. The only update that has worked recently is InDesign. Every time I try to update Photoshop and Illustrator I get error 123 messages and 0% downloads. After the DPS farce, this is really putting me off Adobe – and I’ve used their products for 25 years. I have CS5.5 at home on my MacBook Pro (installed from the DVD) and I’ve NEVER had to uninstall/reinstall/clean it… The current cloud-based delivery system simply isn’t reliable. I’ve lost days of work time though attempting to find a solution for this. It’s not good enough.

Quark XPress once had a really bad product policy and they got kicked by Adobe InDesign, being much more user friendly. Everybody moved to InDesign. Nowadays Adobe is the new Quark. Lessons not learned!

Actually they did learn their lesson: If you want to exploit a monopoly, you have to have such a crushing technological advantage nobody can touch you anymore. Do you really think someone can come up with a competitive alternative to Indesign like Adobe did back in the days when Quark reigned? I don’t think so, b/c XPress was lacking major features that _professional_ customers wanted, while cc is “just” a security risk and a pita to install/update offline.

On the other hand, photo editing has appeal to Joe Sixpack, and Adobe seems to think that Affinity Photo is a serious competition to ps … why else would they provide offline installers for Photoshop and Lightroom but not the other cc apps?

    Just saw this post online:

Adobe’s bad move is hosing more and more customers… hope this changes very soon.

If Adobe estimates they’re getting back more or gaining new customers by preventing piracy than losing existing ones being unable to install/update, it’s your bad I’m afraid to say. The whole world was pirating ps for decades, every granny was using it for her holiday snaps – that’s why Adobe gained their wide customer base and was able to wipe the budget competition off the face of the earth. Now that they’ve gained a monopoly, it’s time to cash in.

  5. I use Windows 10 and CC photography. Having downloaded updates successfully in the past I am baffled by why the latest download does not fully download. The Select and Mask, the item which particularly thrills me will not open with Onion Skin, just transparency, is a mystery. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times without success. Being 75 years old and no computer expert I would be grateful for the help of anyone who understands this and can point me in the right direction to overcome it!

    Thank you

  6. when will adobe provide offline installers for CC 2015.5?
it’s unbelievable what adobe is doing.
some of us have more than one system and trying to install via the cloud is a PITA.

  7. @ProDesignTools: I just emailed you with some interesting info I just found out. I want to hear back from you guys what you think of my findings on this issue.

    • Thanks very much for your email. Yes, Adobe has shared some direct links for Photoshop CC 2015.5, but they have asked us not to widely publicize or disseminate those yet. The reason is because apparently there are still some issues with those single Photoshop installers.

For example, for some reason the CC Desktop App won’t completely recognize when the new install is performed outside of it. So you might want to hold off on using those for now, until Adobe gets the standalone installers working 100% perfectly… Also to pull in all the other CC tools, because it’s still only Photoshop so far, and we are still waiting for standard ESD installers for all the other CC applications from Adobe.

If you do decide to use that installer, note that it will install to the disk location and program language that are set in the Preferences of your CC Desktop app (with reasonable defaults). So it is possible to install it elsewhere on your computer besides C:\, as well as with a different language – but for now you have to use that workaround.

      Hope that helps!

  8. adobe is being an unfriendly company.
i can´t even start to explain how much i am unhappy with them.

instead of harassing their paying customers with new crap that makes installation a PITA, they should work on making adobe apps a good experience.

    • Sorry we have not had a recent update. We are getting back in touch with them this week to see what the latest status is… Definitely it’s been a long wait and patience has been required!

  9. the stupid offline installer for photoshop will not let you choose the language.
it just installs in the OS language and does not ask you what langauge you want.

what is wrong with these guys at adobe?

    • Hi Tanja,

At this time, in the situation you posed, the disk install location and program language are set via the Creative Cloud Desktop App instead. So if you do not already have that running, then you would need to copy and install the CC Desktop App onto your computer first (the direct links are available for that), set those Preferences per your needs and then install the tool itself.

It definitely would be best/better to have these attributes specifiable in the offline installer itself, so this workaround is not perfectly ideal – but this may be a path forward for now. Also, as noted in the comments above, there are some reports of odd behavior when individuals have installed using the new Photoshop direct link… So we have been asked to not widely publicize or disseminate those yet.

  10. I need a direct link because for some reason the CC application has decided that InDesign 2015.0 is the latest version it will download. The installer gives the error U44M1P34 after downloading. But Adobe don’t give an solution for this problem. The problem doesn’t disappear after unstalling InDesign first. Prodesigntools saved my day with their direct links. So I need to download it and install it manually.

  11. Came across this thread as I am Pro Photographer having issues with the CC application not downloading through my craptastic 1mb/sec connection at home for my Imac. I just signed up for CC yesterday and am looking for a means to download the content on another machine (PC at University, not Mac) put on disk/thumb drive and then install it at home.

If I am not even getting the CC desktop app to download/run/install, how can I expect to get the whole CC suite to work? Ironically this was the very reason I postponed upgrading to CC (from CS5) in the first place. As I have been using Disk versions of Photoshop since Version 3 (back in 1993). With the internet providers here in Alaska not upgrading infrastructure at a reasonable pace (only 12 miles outside of Fairbanks) and max I can achieve is 1mb/sec.

But as I am a student again (IT now), I can use the 600mb/sec University link on my PC laptop to get things fine. But I would sure like to use it on my 27″ 5k Imac at home as well. So if anyone has any idea’s on how to get around this issue, and get the most current versions of CC 2015.5 on my Imac, I would really appreciate your input. Thanks.

  12. So is Adobe actually planning on releasing the direct download links soon, or is it planned for a long time from now in a galaxy far far away?

  13. Come ON, Adobe!! Our IT peeps at work are mega stingy about bandwidth, so I can’t download updates during the work day. Sometimes I try to start them at the end of the day and let it go overnight, but sh** always happens… power outages, desk rabbits, etc. Thanks PDT for keeping after them! :)

  14. It is my experience, that The CC desktop app cannot securely connect to the Adobe Servers and download the files needed. Asking for help from Adobe support has resulted in supporters downloading the software from prodesingtools.com to install on several occasions. For the rest they use hours of my time to do the same “exercises” on my computer and then conclude, that it must be the network that is the problem. Only once in every ten tries CC Desktop app does download and install. Also no other app (and I have many) has any problem with the network. The problem is on two computers, one of which has both MacOS and Windows 10. Those computers are in different networks – even in different towns. So the need for direct download is very clear to me: I never have had a problem with a direct download and the install afterwards.

  15. since cs6 i depend on those links, and the adobe support team is very aware of the downloading problems. i will not waste my time trying to download the new versions through the cc desktop app

    • We were unable to connect with Adobe yesterday, but hopefully will be able to early next week.

Sorry for the ongoing delays. We understand it is frustrating, and we are trying our best to get this successfully resolved and move forward!

The underlying tech of the offline install system hasn’t really changed. Once a project is compiled and ready for retail you pack it up and distribute it accordingly. The only plausible explanation for this aside from is Adobe is wanting to wind down the phone activation system and probably layoff the team as a cost cutting measure. Anti-piracy has been suggested but anytime I’ve seen someone discuss pirating Adobe software it’s about something else so I don’t think it matters much if there’s an offline install version available for the pirates.

Either way though Adobe is clearly screwing over those that are paying for the subscription or whom are working under conditions that prohibit the workstation from accessing the internet at all and still have not been able to use this allegedly faster version. I’m concerned that with Adobe’s last response to you that they might say, “We’ve evaluated the situation and determined that only a small number of users require direct downloads and does not justify maintaining the offline activation system.” Because numbers are all that generally matter in a corporate environment. So frustrating.

    • Thanks for sharing your thoughts Mike. One of the things we’ve been working to emphasize as strongly as possible to Adobe is that the number of users who need and rely on CC direct download links and standalone/offline installers is high. Very high.

So hopefully we don’t end up hearing what you imagined, because honestly the customer size is very significant and the need won’t go away. But apparently this still may not be evident to everyone at the company.

That is why we encourage – even urge – all of you to express your important feedback directly to Adobe here:

Creative Cloud Download & Install Forum

      and here:

      Adobe Feature Request/Bug Report Form

      Thanks again!

Aye, they are very large at that which isn’t good for people on metered connections. Unlimited internet bandwidth (more or less) like we are used to here in the states is not exactly commonplace in some other countries where the data cap is fairly low and actually enforced.

Thank you for those feedback links. I’ve used them both to send in my concerns. Hopefully they will acknowledge that while we do live in a “connected world” it’s not always possible or even secure for some workstations to even touch the internet, especially given how common security breaches are even with government entities and large corporations.

Much appreciated for all you do here too.

  18. I was at a camp last week and had the job of making the camp video. Premiere had an error and would not open. Unfortunately, I did not have internet to re-install Premiere. I ended up putting together the entire movie in Windows Movie Maker.

Very upset that there is no offline installer. I have cancelled my CC subscription and will hopefully find another editing program for the next time I need to make a video.
