I just downloaded DW CS5.5 trial and see it on my hard drive, but when I click the file to install I get a message that I need to choose a program to open the file. Do you know which program is needed? The file is called Dreamweaver_11_5_LS1 … there is no extension. Thank you!
Hey Liz, sounds like your browser dropped the extension, maybe you used IE?
Just rename the file to add back the “.EXE” and you should then be able to run/open it.
I joined the Creative Cloud and downloaded Photoshop once. Can I re-download it because I ghosted my computer and lost everything.
Yes, definitely Thao – just use our new Creative Cloud Direct Links to download and reinstall whatever CC apps you need…
Those links can also be used to get free trials of the new CC tools without needing a Creative Cloud membership.
Hi, I was trying to download the trial, and I couldn’t get it to open so I closed my computer and then tried again. Now it is saying: access denied – you don’t have permission to access…on this server. Reference #18.4f7e33b8.1378089522.97e0faa.
I had cs5.5 design premium on my last computer and have misplaced my disks and needed to use program, so I thought the trial would help.
Sorry April, sometimes it happens that users get locked out of Adobe’s servers, especially after a failed or aborted download…
Wait a while before trying again, and make sure to carefully follow the download instructions given in the article above near the top of this page.
Then if you have any difficulties, try a different browser, computer, or Internet connection.
If you’re completely stuck, see this list of download tips (especially #5).
Hello…I overcame one particular problem that people might have when I was trying to download and install the trial of CS5.5 Master Collection. The first file downloaded as an .exe file, but the 2nd file downloaded as a .txt file. When I tried to install it, it crashed and said the file archive wasn’t there. The executable file is looking for a file that has the .7z designation, not a .txt file.
To fix it, I went to the control panel> folder options> view and unchecked ‘hide extensions of known file types.’ Then I renamed the file to end with .7z instead of .txt and it worked like a charm. I hope this helps people who had this problem.
Thanks for sharing that Jeff – were you using Internet Explorer? Sometimes IE will drop the extension off the name of a downloaded file, and you need to rename it to add back the extension before starting the installation process.
No, actually I was using Google Chrome, and the downloaded file extension came through as .txt, which is why I had to change it back to .7z… I’ve had too many security issues with IE and my son (who has a masters in ISYS/IT) told me Chrome was probably the most secure and stable browser for the Windows environment (he’s still trying to convert me to Macs).
Yes, Chrome is definitely better – we use it all the time and have never had problems with it, which is why we recommended it… Sorry if you ran into any difficulty there, it’s rare.
But glad you got it sorted out and thanks taking the time to share your advice here!
will these trials work for the student edition of creative suite design standard 5.5…..I lost the disks and I am in serious need of reformatting my computer…will this trial work for student/teacher edition?
Yes Dave, with Adobe the downloads are always the same – everything is built into the software… It’s just the terms and allowed usage which are different, depending on what your serial number and purchased license is.
Hate to say this but all of these say “Access denied,” and I have been checking for over 3 days…
Hey Boo, trying one hundred times won’t work unless you are carefully following the very important download instructions we give above, near the top of this page.
I keep getting the message:
Access Denied
You don’t have permission to access “…/AdobeProducts/DSGN/CS5_5/win32/DesignStandard_CS5_5_LS1.exe” on this server.

I’ve tried waiting a day (twice), I’ve tried different browsers… help!!!!
Ditto to previous reply.
If you fail once, it takes forever before you get another try, so I suggest downloading the correct file on the first try on a different computer. My only issue is moving my 6 Gb file from my PC to my Mac. Dropbox takes forever, that’s for sure! And none of my hard drives are helping me. The download is all done though.
On a different note; My understanding is that if you download the European version you are not able to choose English as your language pack.
@ Chris
I solved my problem by using Google Drive. So if you have to move your file from PC to Mac, and it’s over 4 Gb, this will probably be your best shot.
Nice solution Chris! Dropbox or Box might work nicely as well.
I have followed the instructions very carefully, but still not working. I have tried downloading the Design Premium but after downloaded (.dmg was still at the end of the file – I am using chrome to download) and I double click the file, it says it is “not recognized.”
I tested another file above (InDesign) and downloaded to see if it was just me, but it worked! I am trying to download the design premium because that is the software I have my serial number for and have a new Mac. Please help me! I have been trying to get my software on my Mac for a few days now. Thank you!
Hi Cate, according to Apple Support Communities, that error message “dmg not recognized” typically indicates a corrupt or incomplete download. See some of the download tips suggested above, but these are large files so most important is probably to use a different (stronger and faster and more reliable) Internet connection (wired and not Wi-Fi).
Hello, i downloaded Dreamweaver CS5 and when i run the .exe file, it asks to dump an installation file on the desktop and after that when it asks for a serial #, i skip and use as a trial version.
But during those times, it showed some errors. I am working on Windows XP, can anyone tell what should i do.

Hey Meme, if you’re having any difficulties installing the programs on your computer then see our related article:
Any Problems When Downloading or Installing Adobe CS5 or CS5.5?
Or use a newer free trial like Adobe CS6 or CC.
I am having problem installing this program, how do I get over this.
First make sure you’ve carefully read the instructions in the article. Then, go through some of the other (previous) comments here – above and on previous comment pages.
If still no luck, then google (search) or post more details on the issue you’re having.
@ProDesignTools
Thanks for the link, now it’s working properly, I didn’t think it that way.
Thank you.
When I click the link it tells me to download Adobe XI. Why?
Hello Shanice, you don’t need Acrobat XI separately – but you do need to visit that page to set Adobe’s session cookie on your browser to enable the direct download links here… If you don’t do that then you will get an error message when clicking these links.
That’s why we have the step-by-step download instructions in the article, so the links will work for you. Just carefully follow them and you’ll be fine.
Hey, thank you so much for this page, but I’m getting an ‘access denied’ page when I click on the direct downloads button?
Yes, you’ve got to follow the instructions in the post otherwise the downloads won’t work for you.
Then if you still have any issues, try a different web browser, computer, or Internet connection (avoid Wi-Fi).
I keep getting a download error message saying “….dmg.part could not be saved because the source file could not be read.” Are there any known issues downloading any of the Adobe trials with Macs new OS Maverick 10.9? I’ve followed the instructions above but every time I download a trial on one of your links it fails right at the end giving me that error message. Also I never see the Akamai interface during the download. Shouldn’t that come up? I also tried the DownThemAll plug in for Firefox and that downloads the file but at the end it gets a timeout error. I’ve also tried Google Chrome and I get the same error.
Sorry Zee, we don’t know why you’re getting that problem and have never heard of that particular message before… Make sure you are carefully following the article’s download instructions from start to end.
You should never see the interface of the Akamai Download Manager – the point of these DDL is to be able to download without it.
Here’s the answer to your question about new operating system support:
Adobe Compatibility with Windows 8.1 + Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks
Thanks for the quick reply. Fortunately I was able to get it to finally download using the DownThemAll plug in on Firefox. Sorry for the bother.
hello,
i don’t get access when i click on the link. “access denied” Ive got an iMac 7.1 – OSX 10.8.5
I wish to download CS5.5 master collection.
Please can you help me? what’s going wrong?
thanks, tjeerd
Yes, if you don’t follow the instructions in the post then you’ll get that exact message… Please see this previous comment.
Hi,
I’m downloading CS5 Design Standard and the “date modified” says January 24, 1984. Should I be concerned?
Thanks,
Chelsea
We’ve never heard of that Chelsea, but these files are all download direct from Adobe’s servers so you shouldn’t be concerned about that…
Generally the “date modified” for any newly downloaded file is the current date on your computer – so if it’s not today, then check your system date!
Hi,
I downloaded the Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium. I had the DVD but lost it in a move. I still have the box with the serial number. When I try to install it, it says it only accepts serial numbers from a download purchase. Would you have a link to a copy of the DVD? Thanks!
That sounds strange Donovan, we’ve never heard of that problem before – the programs and license activation should be the same, whether on disc or download…
What is the exact message you get? Try googling that to find a solution, or post it here and we’ll follow up.
Hi
I can get to the point where the DDL are starting to download, but they are only 1.2Mb (all links are the same size). Why can I not get the full file?
Thanks in advance…Ben
PLEASE IGNORE THIS (delayed RTFM!). There are 2 files listed, File 1 is the installer (1.2Mb) and File 2 is the actual payload. Download both, run File 1 – sorted.
I get the following when trying to download Photoshop CS 5:
Access Denied
You don’t have permission to access “…/AdobeProducts/PHSP/12_1/win32/Photoshop_12_1_LS1.exe” on this server.

Hi Nev, please make sure you are carefully following the download directions – and also see this previous reply to April.
I downloaded everything without any trouble, except that it’s CS5 not CS5.5.
Well, there were no CS5.5 versions of some applications like Illustrator and Photoshop… So instead of having a Photoshop CS5.5, there was a PS CS5.1 release instead with minor changes.
