  1. I have downloaded and installed Photoshop CS6.

I have new cameras – I need Camera Raw to be able to read and handle raw files. But I seems impossible to install???? as update is grayed out!!!! :(((

    • Hi Peter, it sounds like you already have all possible CS6 updates installed already… As this version is 3½ years old, Adobe stopped issuing updates for it some time ago.

If you want to double-check the updates to be sure, you’ll find the direct download links for all the CS6 updates here.

But what this means is that Photoshop CS6 cannot natively support the latest cameras. The integrated ACR plugin is simply not recent enough.

However, Adobe has a solution for common situations like these. They provide free ongoing camera compatibility for previous versions of all Photoshop & Lightroom products via the DNG Converter utility.

What does that mean? Well, you can use the free Adobe DNG Converter Tool for support of any recent camera in older programs like yours. You will need to convert your raw files to DNG, and then Photoshop can import those DNG files instead.

The other solution is to get Photoshop CC instead, and then that camera support will be integrated right inside the program itself and you don’t have to do anything additional.

      Hope that helps!

    • Yes, Adobe stated that Camera Raw 9.1.1 was the last version to support CS6.

You didn’t say which version you were already running now (go to Help menu > System Info and look for the Camera Raw plugin) – but in any event, the direct download link for ACR 9.1.1 is given in our table above… as that was the final one available for CS6.

  2. Creative Suite 6 – Adobe CS6 Download Links do not work, I’ve just been getting:

“You don’t have permission to access ‘…/AdobeProducts/EDGE/1_5/win32/Edge_Animate_1_5_CCM_LS17.exe’ on this server.
    Reference #18.172fa5a5.1448729170.45d20b6”

What would be the solution here?

    • Hey Ruan, please make sure you are carefully following the important download instructions (given in the article above) before you click any of the links.

That’s required by Adobe’s servers; otherwise the CS6 direct links won’t work and you’ll get an “access denied” message instead. If you still have any difficulties, then try a different web browser, another computer, or Internet connection.

Also, make sure you’re not blocking or filtering anything with your browser(s) – like cookies, downloads, or any sites or URLs – or running blocking utilities like Ghostery, AdBlock, or Disconnect. Adobe recommends temporarily turning those things off (including antivirus, firewalls, etc. – it’s the first step in those directions above). Some third-party download managers or other utilities may also interfere with the process.

If you’re still stuck, check out this list of download tips we put together to help.

Then to complete the installation, you must have Administrator privileges on your computer, plus your security software must allow you to install programs.

When I click the setup.exe, Adobe Installer will pop out but it said that:
“Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem.”

I’ve tried downloading Adobe Support Advisor but it turns out it has been discontinued.

  4. Hi, currently have dreamweaver 4.1 which came installed on the machine. A mate asked me for help making him a website for his home business – which we did but it isn’t mobile, tablet friendly and making it so is a nightmare. Sooo looking to upgrade to CS6 but having trouble finding prices to do so, understand there is no direct upgrade path now so i guess i have to consider just buying CS6… if i could find any prices that is lol.

I see there are links here for trial versions which is great, but no info on pricing that i can find ???

    Reply
    • Hi Dave, here is the old CS6 pricing page – but as you discovered, it’s no longer sold or available on Adobe’s website. They finally removed it earlier this year. The reason is because the software is 3½ years old and increasingly unsupported; they stopped releasing updates for it some time ago as the newer CC quickly grew and took over. With the CS6 software EOL and end of support, there are no updates, no bug fixes, and no guarantees it will run on future operating systems. So at this point we’ve stopped recommending it as a good or viable option going forward.

If you need the tools to build a proper website for your friend, then you’re probably better off with the latest and greatest CC 2015 release anyway.

  5. Ok, almost giving up here. I have been trying to d/l and install dreamweaver cs6 trial from here since yesterday. I have followed the instructions above to the letter even closing down firewall and antivirus temporarily to no avail. It downloads fine, extracts fine but stops every damn time on the installer. Message given is Adobe application manager has encountered an error. When i check the details it says pdapp.exe failed. I have uninstalled, run the adobe cleaner option 3, cleared all temp files, logs etc and deleted all adobe dw directories and files, run a cleaner to clear any junk files and registry anomalies all to no avail. If anyone can throw some light on this i would much appreciate it before i rip the last vestiges of my hair out :p

    Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, I managed to download the 5.5 and install so i’m going to go with that for now, found a nice tutorial that I am currently working through, loving this tbh :)
As for pricing, I am on a 30-day trial, I assume at the end i will get an option to buy/pay monthly/whatever – but I can’t go to CC2015 since my machine is a bit old and still on XP Pro which i kinda like using still ;)

Honestly I gave up, every time it downloaded fine, extracted fine and then 3/4 of the way through the installer it pops a message up saying installation failed and on clicking on ‘more info’ it listed the pdapp.exe file as failing. I managed to get the 5.5 variant to download and install just fine so I am running with that at least for now to see whether I like it, which so far I do, lovely package and seems to cover all the things I was looking for that version 4.1 couldn’t do :)

    • Yes, it will run free for 30 days (even on an old computer like what you’ve got), so maybe that’s the best option for you at the moment – and then see where you are in a month’s time.

You’re right that most of the newer Adobe CC tools require at least Windows 7 operating system or Mac OS X version 10.9 (“Mavericks”), or higher. And please be aware that Windows XP is no longer secure, so if you’re connected online with that machine then it’s a significant risk.

  8. Thanks for this, you are more helpful than Adobe. I’m giving Photoshop a trial even though I don’t do much pixel editing and use Lightroom CS6.

Would you know if there is an option to just get Adobe Bridge CS6, I need the export functionality it has but has been removed for the CC version.

    Reply
  9. @ProDesignTools

Thanks, my internet connectivity is often limited and then only about a 2.5 meg connection with errors, so I am hesitant to go for CC – and the Bridge CC version which I have tried does not have any export functionality anymore unfortunately.

There are still Photoshop CS6 copies out there for purchase, but it’s a fair chunk of cash just to get Bridge CS.

  10. I can’t begin to tell you how annoying your non-working links are. They do not work. Not if your precious detailed instructions are followed to the absolute letter, and browsers are reset, reconfigured, firewalls taken down, security stopped, and any other possible step that can be taken over 2 straight frustrating days.

Maybe you should actually CHECK your links and your instructions, and then discover that they really no longer work. I’m sure they once did. I’m sure they were once great. But, as EVERYBODY posts, they do not work any more.

Being snippy with the people who tell you it doesn’t work isn’t going to make the links start working. Repeating that “they work if you follow the instructions” isn’t going to make them work.

The Adobe trial links simply no longer work. And if there IS a way to make them work, you seriously need to go back to the beginning and figure out what that might be. Don’t just keep telling us that they do.

    Reply
    • Hey Clem, nobody’s being snippy in the slightest – but these CS6 direct links all still work… Absolutely, positively, no question. And just tested them yet again to confirm.

Hundreds of people have used the links on this page over the past 24 hours, with no problems… It’s just that occasionally, some people do encounter issues. For almost all of those folks, it’s because they’re not following the instructions – and those are the comments here that you see. They are in the vast minority.

But the overwhelming majority is successfully downloading and quietly moving along their way. We know, because we’ve been doing this patiently for many years now!

    • Hi, it’s not enough to be logged in at Adobe – you also have to follow the important download directions first – before clicking on any of the CS6 direct links…

This is required by Adobe’s servers, and if you don’t then the links won’t work and you’ll get that “denied” message instead.

  11. I downloaded the file and followed all of the steps. But the final step requires that i have to activate the application with a code. Where in the files do i find the code?

    • Greetings Kinger, all the original CS6 apps here are available for free trials and will install & run as fully-functional software on your computer for 30 days (or possibly up to 44 days) at no cost…

Adobe ceased offering CS6 on their website last year. The reason is because it’s nearly 4 years old now and increasingly unsupported; they stopped releasing updates for it some time ago as the newer CC rapidly grew and took over. With the CS6 software EOL and end of support, there are no updates, no bug fixes, and no guarantees it will run on future operating systems. So at this point we’ve stopped recommending it as a good or viable option going forward.

So to use Adobe’s desktop tools after the free trial, you just sign up for a Creative Cloud subscription. There are various different plans & bundles available, offered either monthly or annually. Subscribers can access multiple versions and can use either CS6 or CC as desired.

(Note that at any time after you start a free trial, you can convert that trial version to a fully-paid release without needing to reinstall the software on your computer.)

  13. ProDesign,

    You are incorrect.

You CAN still purchase a perpetual license for all CS6 products by simply calling the Adobe Call center.

It is misleading to state “So buying CS6 is not really a viable option anymore”. If you choose to not recommend it, that is your prerogative, but it is indeed viable and available for purchase.

    Reply
    • Sorry, by “not really a viable option,” we meant viable in the sense of “capable of growing or developing adequately” and “having a reasonable chance of succeeding.”

CS6 was released 4 years ago and is definitely not being developed or growing further. “Adobe has no plans to update it. Ever.”

Apparently in some countries it may be possible to still purchase CS6 by phone. However there are mixed stories about this, and customers reporting that it’s not possible or doesn’t work. And trying to find it elsewhere is generally a bad idea.

With the end of CS6 support, there are no updates, no bug fixes, and no guarantees it will run on future operating systems. Most people don’t want to spend so much money to buy old EOL software. So at this point we’ve stopped recommending it as a good or viable option going forward.

But we’ll try to tweak the text a bit to make it clearer what we meant.

  14. I am not having any luck, error message that keeps popping up is;
“The file archive part of Adobe Photoshop CS6 is missing. You need all parts in the same folder in order to extract Adobe Photoshop CS6. Please download all parts”
Not sure what that is referring to.
    Thanks

  15. Greetings!

I’ve managed to succeed in downloading the installers I require for After Effects CS6 and Premiere CS6, but I’m having trouble with the link for the installation instructions.

I now only have installers I can’t use. I’m on a Mac if that might complicate things or not. Would it be possible to get a full screenshot of the instructions page instead? Thanks!

    Reply
    • Hello Seven, are you saying you are unable to access the page with the installation instructions? What do you see exactly in your browser when you click on the link? Does it give you any message or error?

  16. @ProDesignTools

    Thanks for the swift reply!

I click the link that goes here:

    prodesigntools(dot)com(slash)helpx(slash)creative-suite(slash)kb(slash)start-installer-downloading(dot)html

but when it loads, it automatically redirects to:

    helpx(dot)adobe(dot)com(slash)creative-suite(slash)kb(slash)start-installer-downloading(dot)html

any ideas how to fix this? i don’t think it’s my ISP redirecting me, and I don’t think it’s my computer either, seeing as I’ve attempted to open the link in three different wireless networks (my home, a coffee shop, and an office network).

    Reply
    • Yes, that’s normal – it’s just a shortcut that we use on the site here. But it’s valid URL syntax and doesn’t cause any issue for us or anyone else that we’ve heard of; everything seems to work fine with every browser and connection we’ve ever tested.

So what we’re trying to understand is, are you saying that the destination help page at adobe.com doesn’t actually come up for you? If not, what happens – does anything appear, or is there any message or error? Thanks.

  17. @ProDesignTools

yes, the destination help page isn’t coming up for me. there doesn’t seem to be any sort of error coming out, just that i keep getting redirected to the aforementioned link.

would it be possible to just get a transcript of the instructions for installation? or maybe a screenshot of the whole page (using a plugin like AwesomeScreenshot for Firefox)?

thanks for replying, and sorry for the delayed response, i was busy over the past few days.

  18. @ProDesignTools

Hi ProDesign. I’m sorry, it’s still not working. I’ve tried accessing it on my cousin’s computer, and even on my iPad, but to no avail.

Would it just be possible for you to screenshot the whole page instead?

    Reply
    • Thanks. The next thing we were going to suggest is to try it using a different web browser or from another computer. But it sounds like you’ve already done that.

We have no idea why you’re having issues. No one else has reported any problems. We have tried using numerous different browsers, computers and devices here and have no difficulties at all.

But just so you can get what you need, here is a screenshot of the page you wanted.

Please let us know if that works for you, and how you make out.
