Ive been trying to get after effects for for a while and 3 times ive downloaded the trial i go to install, i double-click setup it says: Adobe setup has stopped working and then a problem caused the program to stop working, windows will close it and notify you if a solution is available. Both the files are in the same folder it just doesnt work.
Hi Matt, sorry you’re having difficulties with the installation. For that error message, this forum thread may help.
You can also check to make sure your downloaded files are complete and not corrupted using this checksum technique – thanks.
Hello,
I am trying to download the Adobe CS4 Master collection for Windows and when i run the 2 .exe files, where do i have to extract the files? To the Adobe CS4 folder that 7-Zip created?
Hey there Pedro, thank you for your question. Please see this earlier comment and response if you’d like more detailed instructions for the installation – thanks!
I checked the forum and the problem was exactly the same as mine, but it was not resolved it was just left, and ive downloaded the checksum and ive tried the calculation and the verification but it hasn’t done anything?
Hello again Matt, since you’re having that unusual problem you may want to ensure your files got downloaded correctly and completely, so you can run that md5checker utility on all your files and then compare those numbers against the numbers given in that other response.
If they match, then you know that your downloads are good and not the problem.
Works a Treat !! Thank you !!
I’ve literally searched for 2 hours for this. Your site should be higher on google when you search for “Adobe fireworks cs4 download”
But thanks!
You’re very welcome Logan – and we agree with you! J
Glad we could help out your situation.
The Akami downloader Adobe uses won’t work on my computer and I spent forever trying to find earlier versions to match my school’s current software. Thank you so, so much! :)
I don’t know what to do, when i click on photoshop cs4 file 1, it brings me to a page on adobe.com saying sign in to resume your download, but i am signed in! it says it right at the top! I need hellppp
Hello there… I am having a problem in downloading a.e. cs4 because when I click file1 it just directs me to cs5… and I can’t install cs5 because it is 64-bit… what should I do?
@Bethany – You’re very welcome, thanks for letting us know!
@Amy, @betsy – This is an issue because Adobe just took away the trial download pages for CS5… The trials themselves are not gone – they are still there on their servers, but Adobe changed the access pages. So that broke the log in to set the session cookie which allows you to download these files.
They’ve done this because CS5.5 was just announced, and the trials for that are in pre-order notification…
We’ll fix this on our end. Basically, we’ll just change the product you click to in Step 1 of the instructions above. Give us a few minutes to set it up and test it, and then please try again, and carefully follow the instructions.
Works great! Just follow the instructions STEP BY STEP and it should totally work. Tested on a mac and on a pc. <3333 Thx for the great page keep it up.
thank you so so much for this website! I have been going crazy trying to find a decent version of after effects cs4 for my university project! (safe / working / compatible / trial) Yours is the only one that has been successful! brilliant!
@Timmeh,
@Rachael –
You’re welcome, our pleasure and happy to have helped! Thanks for sharing your experiences.
I’m unable to download the trial – adobe routes me to the sign in screen
and after that to the default downloads page.
Am I missing something obvious?
Hi adobedude, for that issue please see Kate’s earlier comments, the things she tried, and the series of replies which follow – and that should help you get you past that.
Hi, do you know where I can download CS2 Suite (Standard)?
I dont own the disks anymore, but have the serial number. I had it while working as designer at a previous company. They’ve since sold the company to a lot of manufacturers (who wont use Adobe) I would like to install again on my new PC.
Thanks
Pieter
Greetings Pieter, thanks for your question. It’s possible you might be able to find it on Adobe’s FTP site, but unlikely because it’s so long ago… CS2 came out six years ago, so on top of that it may not integrate well with a modern computer.
And so you know – CS2 is actually the last release where you can still upgrade to CS5 or CS5.5 at Adobe’s discounted upgrade price… They’ll go up to three versions back and no farther, so once CS6 comes out, that will no longer be possible.
To get that break you don’t need the disks – if you just have your valid purchased serial number, that’s enough to qualify for the reduced upgrade pricing.
Anyway, hope this helps and good luck!
Hi, I’m trying to download CS4 design premium trial, but even though I’m signed into Adobe, your link takes me to the “sign in and restart your download.” I’m certainly signed in, because above that message and to the right it says Hello, Ethan.
I have a license for CS4, but it’s impossible to find anywhere.
Welcome Ethan, that tends to happen to visitors from time to time on Adobe’s site… Please see Kate’s earlier comments, the things she tried, and the series of replies which follow – and hopefully that should help you get past that issue.
READ THIS IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS SAYING YOU NEED TO SIGN IN:
I tried downloading the After Effects a ton of times on different browsers, but the moment I ”accepted all cookies” it worked the very first time! So please try if you are having difficulty..
I ended up using Mozilla Firefox, and (Windows) went to Control Panel > Security > Internet Options > Privacy and then dragged the bar all the way down to “accept all cookies” and un-checked the pop-up blocker.
Hope this helps somebody…
Thanks for that tip Josh!
Yes it’s true, if your browser doesn’t accept cookies (see “step 0” in the instructions above), Adobe will not enable the download… So this is one good thing to check if you’re having difficulty.
Every time I try to download a trial version of cs4 I am asked to sign in then continue my download. After signing in to my account nothing happen. If I go back and click on the download link again, I get the same message “Sign in and continue your download.” Please help. Thank you.
Hey there coolsky, that happens sometimes – please see the 4 comments just above yours… thanks!
@ProDesignTools
Thanks, but none of the suggestions is working. I’ve cleared my cache, enabled all cookies (in Firefox in OSX), allowed pop-up windows. I’m still being told to log in when I’m already logged in.
Well, as odd as it sounds, try: time. Meaning, the best suggestion now is just to wait a little while… This fellow and this one too had similar problems which seemingly solved on their own after a bit of time had passed.
So, you might try again tomorrow, with a different browser or computer if you can. Hundreds of people are successfully downloading these trials every day, so it does work 99% of the time.
the links in the boxes/columns are not working for me – they just tell me to log in and go back, when im already signed in… please walk me through what to do.
I’m unable to download the trial – adobe routes me to the sign in screen
and after that to the default downloads page.
PLEASE HELP I WANT after effects

Sorry you’re having problems. The links were just tested and all still work fine… But this does tend to happen – please see the comments just above yours, starting with Ethan’s… thanks.
Thank you for this :)
I’ve successfully downloaded the trial version for Adobe Dreamweaver CS3. I even managed to successfully install it, however, once I run the software setup and choose ‘I want to try Adobe CS3 Dreamweaver free for 30 days’ it gives me the following message:
“A problem was encountered while trying to load the trial period for Adobe Flash CS3. Click Quit to see if restarting your computer or reinstalling the software fixes this problem…”
Neither of the suggested solutions work. Anybody know how to fix this?
Hi Ct, unfortunately you may be out of luck with that one. We had never heard of it before but apparently there’s a glitch in the CS3 installer that can cause that problem for some people… Here’s a long forum thread of folks all with the same message and issue, but nobody seemed to have found a solution. You could try using another computer or trying another product. Sorry about that!
I downloaded the 2 files, and have them in the same folder, now what do i do. Whenever i try to open the files it just makes me choose a program to open it with, and i have no idea how to install it.
Hello Adam, it sounds like you may have used IE (Internet Explorer), which as mentioned in the article has a tendency to drop the extensions from the downloaded files…
All you have to do is rename the affected file by adding back an “.exe” at the end – and then you should be able to run the Adobe trial install (just double-click the .exe).
If there are two files, the other one is a “.7z” – but just leave that one alone and the .exe will take care of it.
If you’d like more detailed instructions for the installation, please see this earlier comment and response.
Thanks and hope this helps!
@ProDesignTools
Has anyone been able to download CS4 successfully since I first asked, or is everyone getting the same roadblock?
Welcome back Ethan. Yes, there are many people who are successfully able to download, install, and run these Adobe trials every day.
hi, i have this problem on my laptop and pc, when i go to click any download for pc it directs me to a page which tells me to sign into my adobe account and then it will resume my download, but it doesn’t and i cant download it.
Greetings naomi, that does tend to happen from time to time with the Adobe site. Please see Kate’s earlier comments, try the things she tried, and read the replies which follow – and that will hopefully help you work past the issue.
