How to Join Adobe's Creative Cloud for Free
GET FREE ADOBE BOOKS
Sign up for our popular newsletter and we’ll send you 30 great ebooks to learn all major Adobe tools at no cost!
I joined earlier and already enjoying the benefits but I am excited about the new integration with Behance.
This is a very misleading offer: the tools being offered, free, in perpetuo, are Adobe’s bleeding-edge new tools with as yet no “track-record,” few critical reviews in the independent computer/graphic-design.
Thanks for your thoughts, though some might say that would be looking a gift horse in the mouth… If you’re not interested in the 10 free things (with more to be added on an ongoing basis Adobe says), then simply don’t sign up.
But according to latest numbers available, over one million people feel differently and have already have joined for free to take advantage of these no-cost tools and services.
This is great, thanks – I downloaded a bunch of the new tools and trials, uploaded some PSD files to share in the online storage, and started using the free web font service on my site and it seems to work really well.
How long will the upgrade from CS3 be available? …been wanting to try the new Mercury Graphics Engine, but just need more time to save up some funds.
Hi Troy, it’s a good question. Currently there is no expiration date set on Adobe’s 40%-off upgrade offer for owners of existing CS products (suite or individual), going back to CS3, CS4, and up through CS6.
As most people know, the company ceased extending upgrade discounts to the CS6 perpetual products from older releases like CS3 and CS4 at the end of last year – but nevertheless the promotion for upgrading to the Creative Cloud from those same prior versions remains intact.
Of course if you just want to try out the new software to see how it works, that’s easy enough as you can simply download the free 30-day trials instantly. And if you need more time than that, the Creative Cloud (which includes all of Creative Suite 6) is also available on a month-to-month basis.
Hope this helps!
Do I need to click on the 30 day free trial to get the free Edge Tools? How long is this offer good?
Yes Courtney, exactly – just click on “Try for Free” and you can start all your downloads…
Adobe has not said how long the Edge Tools will be offered for full and free download, but it will probably not be forever (regularly US$499 is what they said last fall)… Our guess is it’s probably only for this first release.
I live in South Africa and am desperate for Creative Cloud – how soon can we expect it???
Welcome Nicole, it’s a bit surprising that Creative Cloud isn’t available for you yet – South Africa is quite an important geography for Adobe, and we have a lot of readers here coming from there…
But fear not, Adobe has said repeatedly that their intention is to make Creative Cloud as widely available as possible – and that presumably includes South Africa. They haven’t given any dates, but with 42 countries already available and more being added this year, we expect it’s just a matter of time – and hopefully soon.
Thanks for your feedback and for stopping by!
UPDATE: Nicole –
Your wish was Adobe’s command… The Creative Cloud is now available in Africa.
I need Creative Cloud command
750000 users from a Creative Suite userbase of 12 million is actually pretty lame.
Really?? Wow. 700+K buyers for a new product only a year old! (in June 2013)
That 12 million user base has accumulated over decades of leadership in creative tools… Meanwhile, current Creative Cloud sales have beaten all expectations – with over 80% of Adobe’s customers freely choosing it over Creative Suite 6 even before the new “CC” release was announced.
The nearly 5-star user-written reviews probably have something to do with it – the highest customer satisfaction ratings of any Adobe offering.
So, well, if you don’t find that impressive, then you may have unrealistically high expectations.
30 days trial !! I wouldn’t call it free. It’s simply a demo.
For the new CC applications as well as for CS6, the free level of Creative Cloud membership gives you a fully-functioning 30-day tryout – however, for all the other 10 things included on the list in the article above, you get them free for life… i.e., forever.
Thanks a lot!
I don’t know much about adobe cloud and suite etc. but trying to start desktop publishing business and require the suite for that purpose. I am going to attend the conference of 7th July at Noida and after discussions with adobe people and then i would move forward.
Thanks
I will fully utilized its potential usefulness.
These free tools appear to be targeted at developers and web designers and, as with any of Adobe’s products, their profit motive is clear in the decision to make them free. Competing with open-source tools and keeping Flash alive in a rapidly-changing web environment wouldn’t be helped if Adobe charged for them. I try to keep my toe in the Adobe world while using the best of open-source programs, which are developed in a more transparent way. Thanks for this info!
Hi, I think there’s a little side effect no one mentions. Adobe like Microsoft by upgrading its softwares (OS for Microsoft) tend to push the user to upgrade its equipment which favors manufacturers of hardware. Processors have always to be more powerful, driver’s storage too. Add to this that I’m sure that more than 50% of the implementations done are gadgets never used. Who can pretend to use all the possibilities offered by Win Ultimate or other versions? This compensates the so called free use of the cloud system. Moreover what Adobe did not say is that by switching to the cloud subscription they make a huge economy in printing of the dvds and attached boxes. So please stop being hypocritical and pretend all this for our sole benefit and all is free and in the best of the worlds! You’re not Mother Teresa for god’s sake! I do understand that a company has to make profits, but I just can’t stand the so called generosity they want us to believe. I’m not against the new system, but I don’t like to be taken for a fool who has no brains and will believe all the advertising bla bla bla going with it.
Sure Claude, although the company stated when they discontinued the boxes that their savings from reducing most of the discs and boxes would be offset by much-increased costs for downloads, bandwidth, and servers.
Plus, Adobe will still send you out a free CC 2014 DVD today if you really need it. (Mass-produced discs and boxes generally don’t come free but don’t really cost that much after all.)
I signed up for the free Adobe Story screenwriting software but that link doesn’t work and I can’t find the free version anywhere in the list of products, only the trial version. Does the free version no longer exist?
Sorry, Adobe changed the link on us with the recent CC 2014 release of Adobe Story and all the other creative tools…
But no worries, you’ll find Story Free here.
I’m a student and I currently have the CS6 suite. If I sign up for the 30-day CC trial (because my school has made the transition to Creative Cloud), will I be able to keep using my CS6 software after the trial has ended? Or am I suddenly left without an access to the products I previously purchased?!
Hi Tinnel, you should have no problem. You can download and install any of Adobe’s major creative releases and install/run them side-by-side on the same computer…
One does not replace or conflict with another – and in fact, some folks even have many recent CC/CS versions on their system together at one time.
What’s more, you should also be able to double the length of your new CC free trial period if you want, for up to 60 days.
I have recently subscribed to the cloud and have began downloading the apps but I have two questions.
Question 1. Can a load all the CS6 software and use it with what I have already as far as memory? The laptop is pretty clean no heavy duty apps. I like software but not much into the hardware details. Please help me figure out if I have enough memory to use all of this.
Question 2. Do I save every project in the cloud to save memory on my computer?
I have a MacBook Pro Here are its particulars:
Processor – 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory – 4 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3
Graphics – IntelHD Graphics 4000 512 MB
Software – OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
Hello Ginger, it really depends on which Adobe applications you are talking about using the most… They all have different system specifications, and the video apps require a higher level of hardware than do other tools like Muse.
Also, do you really want to run the older CS6 software from 2012, when you are entitled to use the latest-and-greatest CC 2014 version instead? You can choose either, but the choice is up to you.
To help you figure it out, here are the complete system requirements for CC 2014, as well as those for CS6.
If you like, you can try out either release on your computer by downloading and running the software itself. We have the direct download links for CC 2014 as well as for the older CS6.
To answer your second question – no, we recommend saving everything locally on your own system’s disk. You should always have an offline copy yourself. You can also, of course, upload any file or project to the Cloud, but that’s optional and entirely up to you.
Finally, for getting started with learning how to best use the CC 2014 applications, we can offer you a set of free books that you can download, or if you prefer online video training then check out Creative Cloud Learn.
Hope that helps address all your questions, if not then just post back!
excuse me sir… i don’t know much about this, so can you please tell me how to download the package of this…
Well the easiest thing to do is just go to this link and follow the instructions for the software you want:

Hi, I am a current LR owner …is there any better pricing if I move to cc? I really don’t care about all the other add ons/freebies… Was looking to get Photoshop, but hate to pay again for LR
Greetings Keith, the 40%-off CC upgrade discount is for the complete Creative Cloud and only if coming from any previous CS3, CS4, CS5 or CS6 software. So to answer your question, there is no upgrade discount for existing Lightroom users.
Also, if you’re looking at just the $9.99 Photoshop+Lightroom Plan – because it’s already low-cost, there are no upgrade discounts there offered for anyone. However, all subscribers will receive not only the latest releases of those products but also all ongoing upgrades included… So while you have Lightroom 5 now, keep in mind that Lightroom 6 will be coming out and all members will get that too as soon as it’s available.
Can I get the most recent free sign-up, please? I live in the US.
Hey there Debbie – to sign up for the free level of CC membership, just follow the link we posted in our previous reply:
http://www.TryCreativeCloud.com
kindly accept my request to join.
Sure Hezron, you can sign up easily and start for free by clicking the “try” link in the comment just above yours.
If i start the free trial and i for example use the updates for Photoshop CS6, does it automatic update my CS4 Photoshop version? And what happens to my CS4 version should i not continue with a membership version of Creative Cloud?
Hi Anjo, your Photoshop CS4 version will not be updated – it will stay the same.
And you could continue using your old CS4 version, either with a newer release running on the same computer, or if you decided not to continue with CC tools.
