  1. Designing and launching a series of websites focused on allowing Prep school academic/athletes, parents and college athletic recruiters to better ascertain the best match between colleges – students- athletics and academics. A sports ranking ladder athletepowerrankings.com, a University database – thecollege411.com and an academic/athlete evaluater – academicathletematcher.com.

  4. Everyone has their own art. Art is a question mark because there is no end to it and the mind is full of it waiting for it to be unleashed. I plan to do that with this new software from Adobe :)

  5. I would like to win because I am completely starting over from scratch after 23 years. My husband left myself and the kids two years ago. I asked him to leave because of his anger, violence towards the kids and addiction issues were out of hand, and it’s been both devastating to me and the kids and hell to live through. I dug in, though, to save my sanity and the kids and make a steady home as possible. Got one child off to college blessed with scholarships and the other child (our son) who is very self conscious -age 13- and is finally stable although he is angry, bitter, so frustrated and confused. I’ve gone back to my roots of creative awareness and want to learn everything I can in Adobe as fast as possible. (My parent -the accountant- ridiculed me for wanting to go to design school 30 years ago “what will you DO with graphic design?” So I went into writing but missed oh, so much in creative world. Even though I was selling my artwork while in high school, he would not pay for college if I was going to “waste my time” on design. I listened to him then, and I could just scream.)

But there is hope for my son. The kid’s creativity borders on brilliance, I am not kidding. (He loved Vincent Van Gogh when he was a little kid, can you believe it?) But he has been so beaten down by his dad. I want my son to see that he can create good things — and do it NOW — this last 8 weeks of summer — he can get started. He is very mad at himself, but when he is relaxed and joking around he comes up with these ideas for images/website/design/video that blow me away. I’d like to mentor him, give him a shot, move him away from a pre-addiction to “death and killing” video games he plays at his dad’s when he goes there. I don’t know, it’s been really, really hard. Now I am feeling self conscious about writing this all, but I can tell you, this kid will just flourish. He is learning he is good at playing jazz on the baritone sax, and I see his creative wheels turning with no outlet yet. I am working hard on helping him and just came across this offer. My family thinks I should not have divorced his dad, so they are not supportive; do not reach out to my son at all. Time to move on and Adobe CC seems like just a new world I want him to step into…. Thanks.

  7. I’ve been using Gimp the past several months, but it seems to me that Adobe has the absolute best, most, and easiest to find and access stuff.

Now, to be sure, Gimp is fantastic, and it’s free! It does a lot of what Photoshop and Illustrator do. Just not everything. Which is the problem I hope to solve here.

Right now, I use Gimp – and would use Adobe products – to create graphics for a video-chat (i.e., online) Bible study I hold with some friends and to create flyers and images for family members. At some point in the near future, I hope to become proficient enough to create graphics, flyers, newsletter layouts, etc, etc for sale. And to hire out my services to various churches and organizations in my surrounding area. Since I’m no pro and I’ve only done projects for myself or family, I charge food. (I.e., take-out from area restaurants. I’m no cook, either.)

Is there a sad story I could share with you? Of course.

However, I’ll share this an ironic story. Recently, I won a free package of graphics, brushes, patterns etc for a design library. (Whoooooo hoooooooo!!) I was soooooo excited! Still, I’m thrilled. It was the first time I’d won anything online. Converting and using the brushes and patterns was no big deal. (Easy peezy, fresh and breezy.) But the add-ons, the styles and actions, i.e. stuff I could only use with Adobe products, not so much. (Yes I’m aware of both Gimp # and pspi. Apparently, neither do precisely what I need. But if you know of a free and legal program that will run Adobe actions and styles, etc, let me know!) I almost feel bad enough to give the package back. (Emphasis on almost.)

To sum things up, if I won this contest, I could immediately start putting products to use and start charging more than Chinese take-out!

    Thanks!
