[UPDATE – Some of these still work to download the old CS6 trials (plus Edge Animate 1.5), but Adobe has recently taken down many links… However, you can also now get the all-new Creative Cloud 2022 Direct Download Links!]
[UPDATE (Jan. 2017) – Adobe just stopped selling CS6 entirely – here’s why.]
Creative Suite 6 is now available for instant download and direct shipping, and there are many important differences in this release compared to Creative Suite 5, including hundreds of new features added to the individual applications.
Here we’ve put together a complete set of Adobe CS6 direct download links for all the new products (Windows and Mac OS), for instant easy access and the ability to use your own download manager or download assistant if you have any difficulty with what Adobe normally employs and need to get the trials without it…
Whether you’re considering buying a full version or will be upgrading from a prior CS release, or even if you’re getting a volume license or joining the Creative Cloud, you can always use these free trials to install, run, and activate the CS6 software on your system, without needing to reinstall. All of these CS6 trials will run fully for 30 (or possibly more) free days after initial launch.
Where available, we’ve also linked the free CS6 Extra Content downloads (aka Additional or Functional Content). Direct links for both the Adobe Muse 30-day trial plus the completely FREE, full Adobe Edge Animate 1.5 are offered as well (to install Edge Animate, see these tips).
Special: Legally download dozens of free Adobe books for a limited time!
Below is a table for CS6 trials in major languages. These links go to the authentic and original CS6 files residing on Adobe’s servers, are guaranteed genuine, safe, legal, and will not change. For Windows, each program consists of up to two files, an .exe and a 7-Zip file (.7z). The .exe file will only work when the .7z file is also fully downloaded and resides in the same location. For the Mac, it’s just a single .dmg file for each program.
The supported Language Sets vary by product. The Western European languages can include French/Français, German/Deutsch, Dutch/Nederlands, Italian/Italiano, Spanish/Español, Portuguese/Português, Danish/Dansk, Finnish/Suomi, Swedish/Svenska & Norwegian/Norsk. To see which product supports which languages, visit the main Adobe trials page and then click on the selection menu for whichever product(s) you’d like to try – it will tell you which languages are currently available.
Install now: Get all new Creative Cloud 2022 direct download links and free trials.

If you need or want the newer Acrobat XI (released Oct. 2012) instead of Acrobat X which comes bundled in the CS6 suites, then see our Acrobat XI Direct Download Links.
Note there is no separate trial download for Photoshop CS6 “Standard” – the trial is always the Extended version (having all Photoshop features including 3D and motion-based content), and then you decide which version you’d like to keep at time of product purchase.
You do not need to uninstall previous versions of Creative Suite; some users prefer to keep the older, familiar version(s) around as they come up to speed with the new product’s features, and some folks have CS3, CS4, CS5, CS5.5, and CS6 all on one computer.
We suggest using a browser other than Internet Explorer to download the files above. They can be quite large and IE has been known to drop the extension (like “.exe”) from the Windows filename. If this happens and you can’t open a file, then just rename it to add back the extension. But generally, using Firefox or Chrome will work better – and if you have any issues getting the downloads to work with one browser, then try another.
*** Note: If you have any problems getting the files to download or install, be sure to read the earlier comments on this page – as most questions have already been asked and answered below!
Adobe CS6 Extra Content
This is Extra Content (also called Functional Content) that Adobe bundles with some CS6 applications. It is technically optional and not required to run the main products, but will improve your experience if you can take the time to download and add it to your installation.
What’s included in this free additional content are typically media assets, templates, tutorials, documentation, fonts, footage, sample files and projects, and so on. If you own a suite, you can download the bundle for that plus whichever applications are in it.
- Illustrator CS6 Extra Content (112 MB)
Windows: File 1 Mac: File 1 - InDesign CS6 Extra Content (130 MB)
Windows: File 1 Mac: File 1 - Premiere Pro / Encore CS6 Extra Content (733 MB)
Windows: File 1 File 2 Mac: File 1 - After Effects CS6 Extra Content
AE content will be migrated to the After Effects Exchange. - Adobe Audition Content Download Extras
This contains thousands of royalty-free audio sound effects and music loop files.

@ProDesigntools, I did follow all the instructions, and as I said previously, I was able to download CS6 – however I tried as you suggested Edge & Firefox and I am not able to download Adobe Camera Raw 9.1.1 for Windows under English.
Additionally I turned off the firewall & add blocker and still no go, and also tried it on different computers.
Sorry, for me the link does not work
Camera Raw comes from a different Adobe download server than the rest, so the results may vary. But we have no difficulty at all downloading ACR right now with Firefox on an up-to-date Windows 10 PC.
With Edge, you still do get that warning message, but you can click on the three-dots menu next to “setup.zip” in the browser’s Download Manager (Ctrl+J) and then select “Keep” to complete the downloading of the file.
Chrome, by contrast, unhelpfully does nothing when you click the link – and you have no power to override that and get the file anyway, like you do in Edge.
Copy the link, and paste it in a new tab. I’ve noticed that most download links can be fixed this way.
@ProDesignTools
Yes, the link is not streamlined, and I did as you suggested.
I now have ACR 9.1.1 downloaded.
Thank you for all the assistance >>> Much appreciated !!
You bet, Joe – glad to help! And thanks for letting us know you got it downloaded.
How can I install Adobe Muse? There’s no executable.
Actually those older (free perpetual) Muse standalone installers do still work – we just tested them.
You just need to follow the download directions first, is all – which are required by Adobe’s servers.
Otherwise, the links won’t work and you’ll get an “access denied” message instead.
The download instructions are how to download. You can’t install them.
It’s true that these are all 32-bit programs that are a decade old and simply will not install on newer versions of macOS. They were built in the days of Mac OS 10.7 Lion!
Regarding Windows, the software was written for Windows 7 SP1, but some folks do still have luck running some of the applications on newer releases of Windows if needed.
Well, I spent a day or three in and around the Adobe site, and finally uploaded previously registered CS6; then DNG 10.1 but the RAW update failed repeatedly on the help>update link of CS6.
However setting ‘firewall off’ in preferences may have helped, then downloaded it – and this time it ‘stuck’ [like snow=good] so i now have RAW 9.1.
Thank you very much
Great – glad to hear it, Marwigan! And thanks for sharing that tip – it will surely help someone else out.
i couldn’t find the link to download adobe media encoder? do you have any link to download this? much appreciated
Yes and no. Prior to Creative Cloud, the Adobe Media Encoder was not a separate download but rather bundled in with any video product that uses it – like Premiere Pro or After Effects (or one of the suites that included those programs)…
So all you’d have to do for the CS6 version of AME would be to download one of those older versions of the primary tools.
The link to the CS6 updates page does not seem to work. Do I get the latest version by downloading the software itself?
Adobe must have taken those down. Try selecting “Updates…” from the Help menu when running the software.
Or, see this previous discussion in the comments above.
That might help you get the CS6 updates, if the normal method via the Help menu doesn’t work.
Kyle, you can find almost all the updates to CS6 Windows on the Internet Archive at Archive.org. Only problem is you have to manually install each one.
One of the admins here says you only have to install that last one. But before you can install any updates, you have to install Adobe Application Manager 6.2, which is also located at Archive.org
I can’t post links here to Archive.org or powers that be will delete my post if I do. This post may get deleted.
You used to be able to freely download the CS6 updates. But now the Creative Cloud version updates are the only ones still available.
OK, I didn’t realize that they actually gave you the link in the prior post:
e.g. “Or, see this previous discussion in the comments above.”
That’s that’s the place. Has everything you need.
I been working on the Mac CS6 updates and have most of them now. Those add up to 5.7 Gigabytes. Haven’t had the time to make the library and upload the the macOS DMG image files.
MUCH appreciated. Interestingly, you can still update the apps from within the apps themselves (Help > Updates…), like ProDesignTools mentioned, which means there are still active download links somewhere.
Hi Bryan,
You’re becoming famous! We’re now getting requests for the Mac CS6 updates… Wondering if you’ve made further progress there?
Thanks so much!
Hello, it’s legal then to download from here the photoshop cs6 software? But a question, it says ‘trial version’ … if it lasts only 30 days, this means that we can’t use it more? I don’t understand…
These versions are old; they are ones that are not sold anymore? I’ve searched to buy cs6 old versions but can’t find it – so these links are because it’s not available anymore to sell? It’s then legal? Thank you for the info!
That’s right – Adobe stopped selling these licenses many years ago:
You Can No Longer Buy CS6 from Adobe – Here’s Why
So while you can no longer buy CS6, it is still legal and safe to use these downloads as a short free trial, perhaps to open or convert some old CS6 files or projects you may still have.
These installers can also be downloaded and used if you had already purchased a CS6 license and have a valid serial number/key and need to reactivate the software on a new computer, for example.
Another route is to subscribe to a Creative Cloud plan, and that will give you access to CS6 as well as CC (for the same tools but older)… Yes, really. This option is no longer publicized by Adobe and is unsupported, but it still works. But in case you have any issues, Adobe offers a Money-Back Guarantee within 14 days of your initial plan payment.
PS – It looks like you’re a student, so you’re much better off getting the deeply-discounted Education Edition of Creative Cloud instead of messing around with Creative Suite 6, which is nearly 10 years old, end-of-life, and completely unsupported.
For example, Creative Suite 6 will not install on macOS Catalina (v. 10.15) or newer, because CS6 had 32-bit software components and Apple removed all support for 32-bit applications.
Which download is for Photoshop cs6 extended?
There actually is no separate download for Photoshop CS6 “Standard” – the Photoshop CS6 trial [above] is always the Extended version, having all features including 3D and motion-based content.
This Website’s page is the best to download all CS6 updates. Thank you, Bryan and ProDesignTools.
Hello ProDesignTools,
I am Dutch, so excuse my bad English. A week ago, I downloaded the CS6 for Mac, and after some little problems, I succeeded in getting the Suite activated; thank You for that chance. But … after 7 days this program quit and is not working anymore. Is it correct that the CS6-program stops after 7 days? (So it seems like to be a trial only?)
Or, did I do something wrong? And should the program be active during a much longer time, for example with a password You could provide?
In any case, it was a pleasure working 7 days with CS6, but I came one hour short …
Awaiting Your answer, Thank You, keep fit,
Wim
Hello ProDesignTools, this is Wim from Holland again.
As I wrote ten minutes ago, I succeeded in downloading and activating CS6 seven days ago and now it stops completely. Might have been a trial for 7 days.
Now, I clicked again the File 1 for Mac at Your website, and I tried to download and activate a fresh CS6. Downloading was, just like last time, no problem. Activating seems to be impossible now. In Dutch I get messages like translated as: “Install – Problems found – Cannot initialize – Maybe a File is missing – Download Adobe Support Advisor – Close”.
What can You advise me on? What should I do now. I need CS6 for one hour more. Do You have any key or something for me? Do I something wrong? Is it possible to activate a fresh CS6 for a second time?
Thank You in advance.
Wim
Hi Wim,
The Creative Suite 6 free trials were for 30 days long, so there’s something else going on…
See if one of the suggestions given on this Adobe Forums discussion helps to solve your problem:
Adobe CS6 Installer Fails to Initialize – How to Fix?
Hi guys!
Anybody figured out how or where to get the latest updates for CS6? I’ve managed to find some on the Adobe Help Forums but I am still locking for some of them. I still need Media Encoder 6.0.2 and Adobe CSXS Infrastructure CS6.
Would really need some help.
Hello Edi,
Try selecting “Updates…” from the Help menu when running a CS6 application.
Or, see this previous discussion in the comments above.
That might help you get the CS6 updates, if the normal method via the Help menu doesn’t work.
Hello ProDesignTools, Wim again.
Thank you for sending me your reaction.
On the Forums, I only could read the same problem again and again.
But not one solution …
“The Install program cannot initialise”, and nobody knows the trouble …
“Probably a file is missing …”, what file could it be …? Do you know, maybe?
What should I do? What simple things users did to activate the program?
Thank you in advance.
Wim
Excuse me, ProDesignTools, for disturbing you once more. (Wim again …)
I forgot to mention the information about my computer; it could maybe useful to know in order to solve the problem of ‘adobe CS6, Install program will not initialise – probably a file is missing’.
Here it is:
iMac OS High Sierra – 10.13.6 – iMac 27-inch (Late 2009) – 2,8 GHz Intel Core i7 – 8 GB.
Will these data help in finding a solution to activate the downloaded CS6?
Thank you again,
Wim
Wim, there were a number of suggestions given on that Help page which worked for other people. If none of them worked for you, then sorry, there’s not much more we know or can tell you.
If you need to use CS6 for any period of time – long or short – then you can simply subscribe to a Creative Cloud plan, and that will give you access to CS6 as well (for the same tools but older):
http://www.ChooseCreativeCloud.com/
Yes, it’s true. This option is no longer publicized by Adobe and is unsupported, but it still works.
See this guide on the different types of plans available. For your use, it sounds like the Monthly plan would be best, and you can cancel at any time:
Creative Cloud Annual vs. Monthly Subscription: Which Is Better for You?
So honestly, we suggest you just do that. If you have any difficulty, Adobe offers a Money-Back Guarantee within 14 days of your initial plan payment.
Either way, you’ll still also get a 7-day free trial for CC and CS6 when you sign up, which may be enough for your short-term needs just by itself.
One other possibility, if installing Creative Suite on macOS 10.12 (Sierra), macOS 10.13 (High Sierra), or macOS 10.14 (Mojave) – see this help page.
Looking at your Mac specs, it seems that you may be out of luck. That’s because of the CS6’s compatibility issue. CS6 software would still run on 10.10 and maybe 10.11 but after that, YMMV. There have already been reports that CS6 fails to run completely after 10.12 due to all sorts of problems and such.
Also, if I remember correctly, in order to install the software, you’ll have to go to the terminal and unpack the installer before it could be installed. Again I forgot the details, but simply put, doubleclicking the dmg (or whatever) package won’t initiate the install process properly.
Hi again guys!
I forgot to mention that I am looking for the CS6 Updates for Mac OS, mainly for Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
Selecting “Updates…” from the Help menu when running a CS6 application doesn’t work for me. I get an error at the end. Maybe because those updates are no longer on the Adobe servers?
So if anybody figured out how or where to get these latest CS6 updates for Mac OS please let us all know as I am sure I am not the only one needing them. Again, I am looking for Media Encoder 6.0.2 and Adobe CSXS Infrastructure CS6.
Would really-really need some help.
Edi, as mentioned in our earlier response, please see this previous discussion in the comments above.
How come I downloaded Edge Animate and I cant seem to find the .exe folder?
You actually specify the folder location where you want the installer package to be extracted to when you first run the downloaded .exe file.
Typically (by default), this is on your Desktop.
