Thanks for the swift response. TBH, I almost never read and/or carefully follow instructions, yet things always seem to work out for me, anyway.
In this case, I just clicked around, reading bits and pieces of interesting articles on the site. I read your instructions and some more items from a list of tips, clicked around a bit more, decided not to download free publications now or a separate install file for Acrobat Pro XI and finally found my way back to the page of downloads where I clicked first on the Photoshop CS 5 link, thinking that might work better than the MC file, given it’s immense size vs the PS CS 5 only option. Miraculously, or perhaps mundanely, it opened a d/l link for me immediately. So, emboldened by that success, I tried the package I actually wanted, and got the same result – complete success.
I, of course, have to leave for my Friday night class shortly, with my Macbook, so will finish the d/l later, or possibly just start it over either there or when I get back tonight.
But, I wanted to come here and report my success, so I did as part of a response to a crazy post from earlier this month, which is when I figured out why my earlier post had seemingly disappeared – it was busy being moderated.
Then I saw your reply and felt I should return again to say: Thank you! Wish me luck :P
You’re welcome Michael – thanks for the tale, and good luck!
Feel free to subscribe or stop back anytime for what you didn’t yet finish.
I followed the instructions but am still encountering one problem. The mac files are downloading as ‘.dmg’ files and my macbook cannot recognise the image files. Is this a common problem?
Hey Olivia, .dmg is definitely the right type of file for Mac, there is no other here… So not sure what issue you’re running into. DMG files usually just install on Mac with no difficulties.
Generally, make sure you are carefully following the important download instructions in the article above… Those are required by Adobe – so the links won’t work without them.
Then if there are any problems, try a different browser, computer, or Internet connection (wired if possible, instead of Wi-Fi) – each time following those directions.
We also put together a list of download tips for folks who get stuck.
@Olivia Mead
The downloads are rather large, and can get hung up along the way, particularly on slower or less robust networks, or during peak download times.
Try again, and when your download completes (CMD-I for Get Info and compare file size to size listed for the file) THEN double click it. A disk image should mount and open to show you some files.

Hi,
I’m having trouble installing Adobe After Effects CS5 for windows. I’ve downloaded file #1 and #2 which are .exe and .7z and put them into the same folder on my desktop. Then I try to open the first file and it comes up as the “Adobe Download Assistant” and there’s no option to install? I have no idea what to do.
Also, my computer has no application to open the .7z, how do I fix this problem?
We’d say try it again from the top, Natalie… The .exe will open and manage the .7z file… But it sounds like you have the wrong .exe – the Adobe Download Assistant instead – which you definitely don’t need for these files.
“.7z” is likely from the archive app “7 Zip” – a free download, last I looked. It is worth downloading it, esp. if it will allow you to open up and install AE.
It is actually a very useful app, if you work with archived files much.
Yes, quite true that it’s a nice utility to have generally, but you don’t actually need it here – why? Because the .exe file (#1) will open and extract the .7z archive file (#2) with nothing else required.
@ProDesignTools
Thank you for the simple but effective solution! Solved my problem after I tried it from the top again. Cheers.
Sure Natalie, that’s why we’re here… Glad it worked out, and thanks for letting us know!
First off, thanks so much for providing these links! I just wanted to leave a comment in case anyone is having the same issue I was. I was able to download both files without any problems, but whenever I tried to install it kept giving me the error message “Problem extracting the file. Please check the file download and try again.”
After re-downloading it about 4 times and double checking the file quality and space requirements, I was finally able to get it to extract by moving both files directly into the base level of the OS drive (not the desktop or program files) and extracting it into program files from there. Worked just fine and I’m thrilled to have Photoshop back!
That’s great Mandie, glad it worked out for you and thanks for sharing the tip!
am i the only one getting the “access denied” error, or am i doing something wrong?
Access Denied
You don’t have permission to access “…/AdobeProducts/PHSP/12/osx10/Photoshop_12_LS1.dmg” on this server.

Thanks in advance for any info on the matter.
Hi Zergi, you have to carefully follow the download directions given in the article above or it won’t work and you’ll get that exact message instead.
thanks for your quick reply, it worked.
much appreciated.
Downloading the CS5 master suite for mac and my network dropped out 5/6 through… it won’t resume because I don’t have permission… I am using safari to download, and am logged into adobe download assistant…
Thanks for any help!!
Hey Peter, see #9 on this list for advice on how to address that.
Just wondering if anyone is having issues with corrupt archive on flash cs5 download.
comes down but during unzip it fails as corrupt.
No, all is OK here Martis, and no one else has reported such a problem…
Try again with a different browser, computer, or Internet connection (avoid Wi-Fi if possible).
Thanks so much!
Hi! I cant seem to download Adobe Flash Professional CS5
Hello Viloet, what problem are you having in particular? Please be as specific as possible, including any (exact) messages you received… Also check previous comments above for additional help.
Hi! The internet server wont let me access to the Flash Professional CS5.
In another word, it wont let me download it.
Could you possibly upload it in a google drive instead for me to download?
Or ….?
Well, you didn’t post the message but it sounds like “access denied” – for which the most likely explanation is that you are not carefully following the download instructions in the article.
Adobe terms of use do not allow us to copy or redistribute the files from their servers, so you’ll have to try again and review the directions above.
Thanks for the links. I hate the new CC that Adobe pushed out, so I’m sticking to CS4 through CS6. It’s hard to find a working link to download the older version. I used to own the CS3 version when I had Vista.
Sure Peter, why do you hate it? Have you tried it? It’s actually a much better product than any of the older versions you mentioned… There are hundreds of great new features and performance improvements over even CS6, which we wouldn’t want to have to go back to at this point.
Hey when I click on the file 1 or file 2 it just says Access Denied! Why does this happen and can I fix it??
Hi Bob, just follow the instructions first.
I followed all the instructions, enabled cookies and stuff, signed into the adobe trial thingy, closed the windows and so on. I still get the access denied. Is there anything else that might be wrong? I feel like I’m doing everything right…:(
Sorry Elly, Adobe made an unexpected change on their site this morning that temporarily broke these direct links… However the good news is that it’s all fixed and working again.
Just refresh this page (via Ctrl+R on Windows or Cmd+R on Mac), and then follow the download directions again from the top – and you should have no further problem.
Worked perfectly! Thank you! Bought a new iMac and needed to install without using discs etc.
Need help with Windows 8.
When I download File 2 it changes it to a TXT file and I cant seem to figure a way around it. I zipped the file again and then tried to open it but it did not work.
Any idea?
Hey there Chris, sometimes that can happen where your browser (especially IE) can drop or change the file extension(s) when downloading… In that case, your computer might not know how to open it, or might think it’s a text file.
If that happens, you would need to rename the file(s) to add them back. On Windows, File 1 is always a .exe file, and File 2 (if present for the app) is a .7z file.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing, but why i extract the master collection 7z file, i cant find the set-up.exe inside the file archive, why?
anywhere i can get it?
Hello Wesley – no, it’s definitely there. In 4 years of this page being up since CS5 came out, you’re the only one to ever say that – so it’s probably just that you need to look a little harder.
Awesome share man. I was looking for PS CS5 demo so that i don’t have to go with CC, it is damn irritating. Thanks a lot for the instructions and demo links.
Good luck!
Glad to help Naruto, but why are the new free trials irritating?
We have all the direct download links for CC 2014, and it works exactly the same as here.
You guys are so useful, i really hope adobe doesn’t .. like disconnect you guys – i really want you guys to stay up forever lol
Thanks for the props Calvin! We’ve been here for 5 years now and don’t expect to go away anytime soon!
i have a serial number for illustrator cs5 which works in the installation wizard – it accepts it. But when i put it in after i launch the application (which idk why i have to put it in once more after i used it for the installation) it doesnt take it. help please!!!
Not sure Grayson, we don’t really have any control over licensing issues… You might try googling what’s happening, or contacting Adobe directly about it, as they have power that we don’t on those types of things.
Thank you so much, saved my life (or at least my summer job)
Having challenges installing my Photoshop CS5, have a the disk and serial number. I downloaded the program from your site site; unable to install.
Would you quote me a price for someone to help me get install it?
Hi Larry, we’d be happy to try to help at no charge, but we’d need to know more about the particular problem you’re encountering – including details of any messages or errors you’re getting…
Feel free to post back with more information on what the issue is – thanks.
