After downloading cs5.5 – clicked on the .exe file and it opened great. Wanted to extract to desktop which I say OK to, and next it simply says problem occurred when extracting, please try downloading again? Any help?
Greetings, please see this related comment exchange and hopefully that will help.
Also make sure the downloaded files are located somewhere on the same disk drive that you want to install the programs to, as sometimes that can cause that message.
Thanks. I realized after I posted the question the file 2 was only 369MB and it was to be over 2GB. Will keep working on it till the whole download comes.
so is there anything offered OUTSIDE of the Adobe site, where sane people live and breath everyday, that can open my 7z files? I’ve kept the download manager open for the download, still get a prompt from windows.
if you are going to answer with a link to some instructions, please don’t bother, I have 8 pages of adobe instructions open and no help whatsoever. I don’t understand the vehement reluctance to post anything clear, concise, and functional in a straightforward manner anywhere in the download section.
7-Zip will open them, but you shouldn’t need that, or any external utility. You also don’t need any of Adobe’s download managers here.
On Windows, the .exe (File 1 here) will take care of the .7z (File 2 here) for you. Just download both files, and then run the .exe to extract the installer.
If those aren’t the file extensions you have, then it may be that your web browser dropped them when downloading, which happens sometimes (especially with IE). If so, then you’d need to rename the file(s) to add back the extension(s).
PS – For anyone who’s getting an “access denied” message:
Make sure you are carefully following the download instructions given in the article above, near the top of this page.
Then if you have any difficulties, try a different browser, computer, or Internet connection.
If you’re completely stuck, see this list of download tips.
Hello, after you click the link (to adobe’s website found in the Very Important Instructions above the list of downloads) to set up the cookies, I needed to download the adobe download assistant program and install it. After that you sign in with your adobe id (in the download assistant for acrobat) and pause the download.
Then go back to the prodesign site and download both files. Make sure the total file(s) downloads. (check this by seeing if the file sizes match what the site says) I had to try several times till the total 2+GB file downloaded.
As far as I know their is no other place on the web to safely download older versions of adobe creative suites.
Glad you got it sorted, but you actually don’t ever need to download the Adobe Download Assistant (per step 3 of the instructions).
I don’t understand why this information can’t be included in the text at the top of the page. I think it’s a shame that these haven’t been updated. However, thank you very much for that simple clarification. I had opened the .exe file while the other was downloading, and it went without a hitch so I thought I was done with that. I was able to re-run the exe file after both downloads were complete and the software loaded without further issue.
I had been under the impression that the download assistant was what was necessary to extract the 7z files.
Thank you again. @ProDesignTools
Sure, happy to help. We’ve been doing this for years and tried to be as clear as possible in the article text and the download instructions about what’s needed and what to watch out for, but invariably not everyone reads things the same way.
when I click a link or use right-click then I just get a new tab with a different website. I did follow the instructions and log into the Adobe account.
Hey Obi, just tested and everything works fine here… Are you sure you followed exactly Step 1 of the download directions? It’s not enough to just be logged into Adobe.
See also this list of suggestions if you get stuck.
I downloaded both the files (Photoshop CS 5.1). It extracts nicely till 99% and gives me an error about not enough disk space.
I have 29.6 GB free on the target partition (D:)
Tried it on different drives with varying free space (all above 10 GB), same error.
Tried moving the download to another computer. Same error.
Tried downloading again. Same error
Please advise.
Hi Aby, what is the exact message it gives you? Did you try googling it, or searching our site for it? That will most likely turn up the answer.
It worked when downloaded the third time, Looks like something was wrong with the 7z file on the first two attempts.
No errors
Thanks for the response and apologies for bothering.
Great – glad to hear you got it sorted out Aby, and thanks for letting us know.
Access Denied! I cannot download.
Well, generally that’s the message you’ll get if the download instructions are not followed carefully.
Do you know where I can get a 64-bit version of CS5.5 please?
Welcome Peter, which application are you looking for?
All of those available can be found in the table above.
IT IS SAYING ACCESS DENIED.
ANOTHER THING
I HAVE INSTALLED NERO PLATINUM 2014 WITH SERIAL KEYS. BUT IT IS PROBLEM TO ACTIVATE. HELP ME
Well, you’ll get that “access denied” message if you don’t carefully follow the download instructions above.
I purchased this product 4 years ago. Recently my computer crashed and I lost all of my programs including Creative Suite 5.5. I tried reinstalling from a previous backup, but that did not work. I cannot use the direct link in my email because it has been over 3 years. I do not know what I need to do to get my Creative Suite back. I have tried downloading each trial individually to put in my serial number, but it is taking hours for each trial to download. Any help would be appreciated.
Greetings Kristin, you would need to download the exact same product that you bought – in your case, a suite, rather than the individual tools… Then enter your valid purchased serial number to activate the software, when it asks.
If you are getting download failed, network error in chrome and any other download error in firefox, it its likely your ISP. It didn’t work in my apartment (over wifi or ethernet), but when I went to work it worked fine over wifi.
Hi, i have the adobe suites 5.5 design premium student and teachers licencing disk but my computer i had installed it on had crashed and my new computer does not have a CD drive (retina). I downloaded the creative cloud by accident, and tried to download the CS 5.5 but it says that my serial code was not applicable.
Hello Drew, looks like you’re on the right page for the CS5.5 direct links… Are you positive you downloaded the same software that you had?
If so, and if you encounter any licensing issues, then we unfortunately don’t have much power to help with that – you’d have to contact Adobe directly.
Will this work for people who have CS6 as well?
No they won’t Steven – these are CS5.5 only. You’d need the CS6 direct download links (from 2012) instead.
We also have the same resource for the latest release from Adobe, the CC 2014 direct links (June 2014).
I am trying to download using my Mac Mini, Every time I try to go and do the download, it says:
Access Denied

PLEASE HELP
Sure Allen, it’s simple – you’ve got to read and follow these download instructions above before you click, otherwise you’ll get that exact message every time.
If you still have any problem after that, try a different web browser or computer, while still following those step-by-step directions (required by Adobe) every time.
If you’re really stuck, see this list of download tips.

oops…. didnt read the last comment lol
i get an error and it says that “the file archive part of adobe photoshop cs5.1 is missing. you need all parts in the same folder in order to extract adobe photoshop cs5.1. please download all parts”
how do i sort this out?
please help!
Hi Pukuri, guessing that your web browser may have dropped a file extension(s) when downloading… If there’s no longer an extension, then your computer wouldn’t know how to open/process the files.
On Windows, make sure the first (small) file has a .exe extension and the second (large) file has a .7z extension. If not, then just rename the file(s) to add back the extension(s) at the end, and you should then be able to proceed from there.
I have followed the download instructions and when I got to open the programme it tells me that its not a supported file type and that it has been damaged and not decoded? Any ideas why? Its CS5.5 on windows
Hey Nick, see the previous comment just above yours. Another possibility is that the file got corrupted or is incomplete, and you might try downloading it again.
Hi PDT team,
Awesome site and resource. I tried downloading a trial of Design Premium CS5.5 for MAC but the link says I don’t have permissions. I bought my license from an online store but its been a while and their link they sent me via email doesn’t work anymore. Do you guys still have this file available to download? I’ve got my own license.
thanks.
Hello King, thanks for the kind words! All of the CS5.5 direct download links still work, but you need to carefully follow the important download directions first, before clicking on any of them – otherwise you will get a permissions or access denied instead.
Thank a TON! Lost disc 2 and thought I wouldn’t be able to install :'(
You bet Jack, glad to help!
I have followed the download instructions for Adobe Illustrator on Windows (English) and when I go to open the program it tells me that its not a valid Win32 application. Have downloaded it multiple times. Something not right??
Tried Illustrator CS5.1 1.3 GB dual files download English. When I go to run the application I get the error ‘Illustrator_15_1_LS1.exe is not a valid Win32 application’. Have tried multiple times to download without success.
Greetings David, at what point did you get that message? When you first double-click the downloaded File 1?
On Windows, is your extension of File 1 “.EXE” and the extension of File 2 “.7Z”? If not, you would need to rename the files back so that they have those extensions.
That message could also indicate a damaged download or unsuccessful installation. If so, you can use the Adobe Cleaner Tool, reboot your computer, and then try again.
why I can’t download Adobe flash cs5 ?
Not sure – what’s happening exactly, did you follow the download instructions first?
