Adobe Lightroom 6 update links are not available.
Do you have another link where I can find it?
Yes. See in the section of the article above where it says, Adobe Lightroom 6/CC 2015 Updates.
My Adobe password is not working for Creative Cloud installer. What do I do?
You could try:
How to Reset or Change Your Adobe ID Password
@ProDesignTools
That is an Access Denied…
We just tested the Lightroom 6/CC direct links above, and they both still work fine for us. So not sure why you’re having any difficulties, sorry.
You might try a different web browser (like Chrome or Firefox), another computer, or another Internet connection (use wired instead of Wi-Fi if possible).
Also, make sure you’re not blocking or filtering anything with your browser(s) – like cookies, downloads, or any sites or URLs – or running utilities like Ghostery, AdBlock, or Disconnect. Adobe recommends turning those things off temporarily.
Can I still purchase a standalone perpetual license for Lightroom 6 and if so how can I do it?
Many thanks
No, sorry – you cannot buy Lightroom 6 any longer. About a year ago, this older version from 2015 was finally & completely discontinued by Adobe.
Lightroom 6 stopped receiving new camera/lens support and bug fixes near the end of 2017, and won’t run on modern operating systems like macOS Catalina. Further, the Lightroom 6/5/4 Map module is permanently broken now, because of recent Maps API changes made by Google.
Bottom line, the company no longer makes or sells LR6 – and there’s nowhere that you could purchase it legitimately (and safely), even if you wanted to.
Unless you previously owned Lightroom 6 and just needed to re-download the installer, then here on this page is just a trial – and the only product you can buy from Adobe now is Lightroom CC.
@ProDesignTools
Thanks for your help.
what’s the serial key
You are a life saver.
I do have the LR6 since 2016-2017 purchased with the dvd, but no dvd reader handy.
Recently I changed computers and I was only given the Cloud option.
This helped me to have the software without the need of getting a dvd reader.
Downloaded, installed and my adobe account already has the purchased serial code.
Piece of cake.
Thank you!!!
You bet, Mariana – glad to help, and thanks for your kind words!
Important: If you’re using Chrome and the links don’t work, then try with another web browser like Firefox, Edge, Opera or Safari. No problems at all downloading with any of those.
The latest version of Chrome has an issue because our page is https, but Adobe’s download server is not – it’s http only, and there’s nothing we can do about that!
So with a “mixed content download” here, all you have to do is use a different browser. It’s safe and easily taken care of.
Great news! The offline installers for the new Creative Cloud 2021 release are now available, and here’s our post out today on what you need to know:
How to Get New Adobe Creative Cloud 2021 Direct Download Links
@ProDesignTools
The update link “Direct Download Links for Lightroom 6/CC Updates: Windows” returns a 403 Access Denied error. Do you know of any other place to download it from?
We just tested the Lightroom 6/CC links above, and they all still work fine for us. So not sure why you’re having any difficulties, sorry.

Sorry, I should have clarified better. When you click on the link in the blog for the updates in the “Adobe Lightroom 6/CC 2015 Updates” section, it goes to this page:
https://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cc-2015-updates-links-windows.html#lightroom
and that page opens has an entry in its table:
Adobe Lightroom 6.14 + CC 2015.14 Complete ** – 1.1 GB – 12/19/2017 – Release 6.14
where “Release 6.14” is a link that returns the “Access Denied” response.
Sorry, the “Adobe Lightroom 6.14 + CC 2015.14 Complete **” returns the error. The “Release 6.14” page is a blog entry stating that this is the last perpetual update release and the link in it to the release no longer contains the release.
https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/download-availability.html
Those direct download links to the fully-updated Lightroom version 6.14 actually do work.
You’ll notice the two asterisks “**” footnote in the description there. It indicates there are some download instructions which you must follow first in order for those links to work.
(It’s a requirement of Adobe’s download servers, not on our side.)
Hope that helps.
I downloaded Lightroom 6, however it is asking me for a serial key?? Where can i get one, buy one?
I just downloaded the light room. I need a serial number or redemption number. Can someone help me? I have no problem purchasing
Hi Mary, please see our previous response above to Graham.
If for some reason the Lightroom direct download links above don’t work, then try this instead:
I had the original lightroom 6 saved from the time that I purchased the upgrade from version 5 (November 2015).
Lightroom recently crashed, however, after upgrading my hard drive to a larger SSD drive. Your advice (and the links above) got me to Lightroom 6.14, which may be the last upgrade.
Thanks so much!
Hey, that’s great, Chuck – glad to hear it! And thanks for letting us know.
Thank you so much, I just restored my much-loved LR6 after a total hard drive failure – really appreciate it !!
Happy to hear that, Paul – so glad it helped, and thanks for letting us know!
Thanks a lot for solving this matter!! LR6 downloaded and is running! I don’t understand why Adobe staff doesn’t give you the download link directly and they force you to read everything above… Adobe is too big and rich to be so difficult.
Thanks to all for the help!
That’s great news, Maria. Glad these resources were able to assist!
Thank you. I had no problem downloading LR6, but when I opened it, a screen requesting sign-in to my Adobe account appeared. When I signed in, a new screen “Serial Number Validation” appeared, saying to please connect to the Internet to validate your serial number. When I pressed “Validate” nothing happened, and I had to use the “Connect Later” button to continue.
My original LR6 was an upgrade from LR4 and I never found a place to enter that serial number. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Rick, what happens when you try to start Lightroom?
Every time I try to start Lightroom, I have to go through the process outlined in the paragraph above. I have tried deleting and reinstalling LR always with the same result. It said that if it was not validated, it would shut down after 7 days. I don’t really want to work in LR for only 6 more days.
OK, first try the suggestions given on this page:
The “Serial Number Validation” Screen Appears When you Launch the Product
You can also try this:
1. Uninstall all Adobe apps using standard OS procedures.
2. Download & run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, remove all apps.
3. Reboot your computer (don’t skip this step).
4. Start again from the top by reinstalling the Creative Cloud tools you want.
I have the same problem and nothing mentioned here seems to solve it. Someone knows the trick to activate LR6 after download on a Mac ? thanks !
What is the exact (word-for-word) error message that you receive? And what is the operating system version that you are running?
(Note that Lightroom 6 will not install on macOS Catalina or newer, because Apple removed all support for 32-bit software – and Lightroom’s installer was 32-bit.)
I have used ProDesignTools to update lightroom version 6.0 using the download link file [ Lightroom__6_LS11. ]
Upon opening Lightroom, going to the Help menu > System Info still shows version 6, not version 6.14.
Please advise,
Joe
Those should be the fully-updated versions (Adobe Lightroom 6.14)… The update is part of the downloaded package, and should be applied automatically upon installation. Not sure why you’re not seeing it? Try rebooting and/or reinstalling.
Hi Rick,
I have the same problem that you mentioned above …
Did you solve it ?
I tried what you said, but I’m still getting the same message that “I have no internet and cannot validate my license key”, so they gave me 7 days.
It also says that you can activate offline using this link: https://aoes-prod.licensingstack.com/aoes/aoes/v1/imsauthstatus but i don’t know what the request code is.
Please your help to activate my LR6 again.
Thanks!
Hello, I have been having the same problem for several weeks now and can’t seem to find an answer. Any idea how to solve it ?
Please help !!!
thanks !
What is the exact text of the error message you receive?
And what operating system version are you using?
Just in case it helps, I am running Lightroom 6 on macOS Big Sur 11.5.2. I bypassed Catalina (just because I didn’t bother to update sooner) so maybe that helped. But, be warned, after installing Big Sur, my old Photoshop CS5 won’t function – I can’t go back and uninstall Big Sur, so I am now having to look at a CC subscription!
Thanks, Richard. You can’t install LR6 directly on newer releases of macOS – like Catalina, Big Sur, and Monterey – but you can run LR6 if it’s already installed on those OS versions, with a few tricks.
Ah, thanks. Yes, I didn’t have to reinstall LR6 so when I did the Big Sur update, it was already loaded. I didn’t have to do any of those tricks, though, it just went right on working.
Richard, which version of LR6 are you running on Big Sur?
Hi there, I am using version 6.0. I hope this helps.
