Not working
Hello, you just need to follow the “Very Important Instructions” near the top of this page, before you try to download – thanks.
I am wedded to XP because of the lack of drivers for my peripherals with newer Window versions.
If I purchase Lightroom 3, is it still supported by Adobe? Does it have its own editing abilities? or do you need Photoshop Elements.
Thanks for any advice.
Hey there Bill, we don’t recommend buying old versions because Adobe doesn’t sell them any longer, and it’s often problematic and dangerous trying to find them from other sources.
As for what Lightroom does compared to Photoshop or Elements, this guide should help answer those questions:
Compare Photoshop Editions: Photoshop CS vs. Lightroom vs. Elements
Hello! I just downloaded the Elements 8 for Mac, and when I try to open the .dmg file it comes up with and error that says “The following disk images couldn’t be opened. Reason: not recognized.” Am I missing something?
Hi Meg, sorry to say a “dmg not recognized” message usually means the download didn’t come through correctly… see this previous comment for more information.
Is the download link for Photoshop Elements 7.0 available?
Yes Umang, you’ll find it here.
Hi:
I must say I have never been more outraged about Adobe discarding older versions of their software. This is highway robbery to me. I paid a lot of money for the Photoshop Elements 8 a couple of years ago. It was not my fault that the program was deleted from my computer. I got a message (after getting on to Photoshop) that I needed to update the Photoshop Elements 8 file, otherwise the program would not work properly. I agreed to update because it also said that after downloading the current updates I would be able to upload Adobe Elements 8 again. It completely removed Photoshop Elements 8 from my system and never gave me the download button. IT JUST ERASED IT FROM MY SYSTEM. I only had the program 2 years and I was happy with it the way it was. I followed the instructions to downoad PSE 8 from this site but I am getting a error message about a mul and I do not have a zip program. Does anyone have a phone number for Adobe’s corporate office or a mailing addess? I feel like I have been robbed because they no longer have a download I can use, and the one on this site does not work for me. My original disk was destroyed when I had a flood caused by Hurricaine Sandy. Fortunately, I write the S/N for all my programs in an Excel file, because of acts of God like Sandy. So I have my S/N but not the disk.
Thank you. Peggy
Sorry you’ve been having difficulties Peggy. We’ve never heard of anything like that, where a program would uninstall itself. Not really sure what happened there, but it’s highly unusual.
But not to worry, your software can be re-downloaded here. Please just carefully follow the instructions at the top of this page and you should be fine. You don’t need to zip or unzip anything yourself at all, just run the .exe file once it’s downloaded together in the same folder with the second file.
Once this free trial software is installed on your computer(s), you should be able to activate it permanently using your valid purchased license key.
If you have any further problems, just post back and we’ll try to help… Better luck to you in the future!
@ProDesignTools
Thanx… you were helpful… :)
@ProDesignTools
Thank you for taking an interest in my Photoshop Elements 8 problem. It will not allow me to download the files. I keep get an error message when I try to download. the message is
HTTP ERROR: 404 /support/downloads/dlm/main.jsp
RequestURI=/support/downloads/dlm/main.jsp
Can you tell me what it means and/or is there any other way to download Photoshop 8
Thank you,
Peggy LEVA
Hey Peggy, there’s no other legal and safe way, sorry… These are the (only) authentic and original free trials resident on Adobe’s servers.
If you’re having any issues when following the step-by-step instructions, then try it with a different web browser, or on a different computer, or with a different Internet connection (avoid Wi-Fi).
Alternatively, try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then log back in to your Adobe account before downloading the links above.
Hi:
In answer to your response to the issues I am having following instruction installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 I would like to say that I tried installing it on a different computer, but, got the same ERROR MESSAGE. I tried a different web browser, and GOT THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. I tried a different internet connection, I got the same ERROR MESSAGE. I am totally frustrated and furious that a big organization such as ADOBE would allow this to happen with a program that is only out for 3 years. This is not fair to the public and hard working people who pay for this very expensive software. You keep saying that it is an easy process to download later versions of the software, but it is anything but that. I am beginning to think that Adobe is making it impossible to download later versions so that the public is forced to purchase the current version for an outrageous amount of money. I would like the name and email address or telephone number of someone in charge at Adobe, such as the managed or anyone higher to discuss this further.
Thank you, Peggy
Sorry Peggy, your difficulties are unusual, and notions of a conspiracy theory are not correct.
The one thing we will say is that sometimes Adobe’s online servers get into a funny state (especially after a failed or aborted download), and you have to wait a bit before trying again… But we assure you that these links work or we wouldn’t be here.
Anyway, feel free to contact Adobe directly about any issues you’re having, in fact one could argue that’s what you maybe should do in the first place.
We’re not them and are really just trying to help you out here – as we do with virtually all our visitors – and just tested out that link ourselves and it works fine on our end.
Good luck.
Thank you so much! I’m trying to teach myself the pro CC versions of PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc. but rely on my PhotoShop Elements 8. My computer crashed and I couldn’t find my PSE 8 CDs to restore it. You saved me!
Great – thanks for sharing that Lisa, always nice to hear happy-ending stories like that!
I’m trying to download Elements, but the first file doesn’t seem to be an .exe file, like the instructions say, and my computer is asking what program to run it on. what should I do?
Hello Michelle, for that issue please see this previous comment and response.
First of all, Peggy’s problems are not unusual as I (another Peggy but from MD) have had the same frustrating problems – but I appreciate your directions and will contact Adobe directly.
@Peggy Boccabella
Hi Peggy from MD:
I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post. I still have not resolved my issue. I am wondering if you are having the same problem as me or do you have another issue with Adobe? I find it totally outrageous there is not an easier way to download the program other than their instructions. Clearly I am not the only one having problems. I’d really appreciate it if you would let me know the outcome of your inquiry with Adobe directly. Thank you. Peggy from PA.
Hi Peggy, sorry for your challenges and you say you find it outrageous – but some might say that it’s lucky these files are still available for you here at all, also that there are people trying to help you with them… Otherwise there would be no options available for a four-year old product that is no longer sold or supported by Adobe – discs for this program simply cannot be found from any source if yours was lost.
In any event, we just tested all the links on this page again moments ago, and had no difficulties when following the directions to download the installers. Did you try the instructions with a different browser?
HELLO!!!!
In two previous emails, I went into great detail explaining how I downloaded the Elements program and the outcome of it. I also told you my original disk was destroyed in the flood caused by Sandy, among other precious disks that got destroyed IN THAT STORM. If you would’ve taken the time to read my other emails, prior to writing this, you would have known not to be so “nasty.” I still have my original sales receipt and my S/N for Adobe Elements 8. I was devastated by Sandy, I lost more than software disks and I still have not gotten over it. If I am lucky enough to find someone to help me download the Elements 8, I can just enter my Serial Number and that would be that. Because you are much more knowledgeable about the Adobe Products than I, it does not give you the right to be condescending, that is outright mean. I thought you people were here to help people not bully them.
Very sorry for your loss Peggy, but it’s not fair to take that out on others… Your very first message to us above contained some strong language about things we had nothing to do with, no connection or fault for, yet we responded politely and tried to help anyway.
This is now our fifth personal response to your comments and yes, we have attempted to help every way we can – but there’s nothing more to add to what we’ve already shared… You might try reading through it all another time before you move on.
Why you can’t download the software is a mystery, but we’ve offered every suggestion we can think of to address what is a rare situation in our four years of running this site.
If you have further comments, requests, complaints, or feedback related to Adobe software, we’d advise contacting them directly.
I was looking for a Mac version of photoshop 8 and stumbled upon this. I downloaded it today and successfully installed it with no problems. Thank you very much!!
hi, I want to download Photoshop elements & premier 8 (i had both on my other computer that died). I have my serial numbers for both. I’m trying to follow the instructions above but it keeps telling some kind of 404 error message or redirects me to adobe Photoshop elements 12. what do i do ?
Hello Vsihi, try a different web browser or computer, and make sure to carefully follow the instructions when you do.
Please help. Would really like to purchase Lightroom but my computer will not run LR 5. I found a link to LR 3 but not 4. Any ideas would really help. Thanks
Hey there Rod, Lightroom 4 is here (direct download links for the free trials).
Elements 8 downloaded to my Mac OK. I double click the Blue pse folder icon. It opens a folder with a setup icon. I double click setup and get the error “Setup can’t open because it is from an unidentified developer”
Hi Gareth, that’s Apple Gatekeeper – which pops up for old (unsigned) software like Elements 8… see this comment for more details.
@ProDesignTools
This link for PSE7 isn’t working. Are you able to provide a good link?
Thanks!
Jess
Greetings Jess, those Elements 7 links work fine for us. Make sure you carefully follow the same download instructions given in the article above.
Works! Thank You!
Sorry to be a pain about this;
I’ve tried to download the program and have successfully installed the trial version, however when I try to put my serial number in to the program I get the error message:
“The serial number you entered is not valid. Click OK to retry entering the serial number.”
I am using the serial number of my version of PSE7 which I previously had installed on my computer. When I then changed my operating system, I wanted to put Photoshop Elements back onto my computer and, since I has registered my product to my MyAdobe account, I thought that I would be able to re-activate my product.
My serial number is show on my MyAdobe account page under the My Products heading next to Adobe Photoshop Elements but it is then saying that the serial number is not valid when I try to use it.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Well, not sure if Elements 7 was “multi-platform” software – meaning you may not be able to just switch it from Windows to Mac OS (or vice versa).
Newer releases of Elements (like PSE 12) are sold with a single license that will run on both operating systems, but you’d have to check with Adobe whether your old version can do that.
Hope this helps Ryan, and good luck with it!
Hi, I have been able to download a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 as I have a serial number from a previous copy which came with a PC as pre-installed. However, in downloading the file I find that there doesn’t seem to be a programme or installer to actually install it on my PC.
Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hello Paul, Photoshop Elements 7 on Windows was a single-file .exe installer. If what you downloaded doesn’t have a “.exe” extension, then it may have been dropped by your web browser (IE has been known to do this) – and you would need to rename it to add back that extension.
Just wanna say thanks! This worked perfectly, and after searching for ages to try and find a Photoshop Elements 8 install it was nice to find one that was reliable and working.
Not to mention safe. Glad to help, Kat!
I’m so confused. I have the same problem as some of the others. I’m trying to download PSE 8 onto a new laptop which doesn’t have a disk drive, therefore I cannot use my CD to install but I do have my serial number if that can help at all. I tried so many methods to download this but none seem to work.
But if I install the free trial of PSE 8, somehow from there could I put in my serial number and get it permanently?
Yes Molly, but what problem(s) were you having in particular – can you be more specific?
Did you carefully follow the download instructions, and try a different browser or computer?
If you could please post more details about the issue including any exact messages, we can help better.
Just wanna say thanks! It worked (PSE 8 on Mac). Had to download it with firefox as safari repeatedly failed at the end of the download.
You’re welcome Rob! Glad to hear it and thanks for letting us know.
