Thanx. Do you have the Adobe Lightroom direct download links for older versions too, like Lightroom 2 or Lightroom 1?
My computer crashed and I need to restore it, but can’t find my original disc and all the free trials on Adobe and elsewhere are Lightroom 3 now.
Sure Sophia, no problem – and a helpful addition… Here are the direct links for those:
Adobe Lightroom 2 – Windows (149 MB)
Adobe Lightroom 2 – Mac (100 MB)
Adobe Lightroom 1 – Windows (48 MB) [original first release]
Adobe Lightroom 1 – Mac (43 MB)
Languages supported: English, French, German
[IMPORTANT – Adobe is discontinuing public direct download links for older software. Instead, you can now download legacy installers here through their website, or get the latest Creative Cloud installers here. For more details and complete information, see our new explainer post here.]
very nice write-up. how about photoshop elements 9? it was just released and I wasn’t able to guess it…
Thanks!
Hi t, thanks for the timely question and for beating us to the punch. Here are the complete DDL for PSE 9 and PRE 9 for both Windows and Mac:
Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 9 Direct Download Links
“The Elements 9 trials are currently available in English, French, German, and Japanese for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. Additional language versions for Windows will be available in mid-October.”
Do you have direct download links for Elements 7?
Sure Pavel,
Here is the direct download link for Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 (455 MB), which was released in October 2008 for Windows only… Please make sure to follow the same download instructions above. Hope this helps.
PS – That’s the English version. If you need French instead, it’s here (436 MB). German language version is here (435 MB).
PPS – Note that Adobe sells only the latest release of Elements.

Thanks a lot. But I also need Premiere. What about it?
Oh OK, no worries…
Premiere Elements 7 for Windows –
The main program in two parts: File 1 and File 2 (659 MB).
The extra content in two parts: File 1 and File 2 (2.8 GB).
Hope that does it for you!
@ProDesignTools
I hope you’ll not consider me lazy, but I have a simple question for which no search reveals a specific forum on which to post it.
My question: Do I need both PSE8 and PRE8 (with content) running on my system and, if so, why? I have hundreds of photos and videos and am most eager to get started, but I have seen the resources required (largely CPU) in Task Manager — both “Elements Auto Analyzer” and “Elements 8 Organizer” top the list.
Supplementary: When all content has been “imported” and “analyzed”, will these hungry processes be satisfied and just lurk about waiting for a new video or photo to be processed?
I am using Photoshop (CS3) and Lightroom 3.3 64-bit and running both PSE8 and PRE8 successfully (at least so far, I’ve yet to create a project) on a new laptop: a VAIO, with Win7 Ultimate 64-bit on an Intel i7 Q740 1.73GHz, 4 CPU/8 Core processors with 8 GB RAM so I am not particularly short on resources — still one does need to husband one’s assets as software, like Nature, abhors a vacuum and seeks to fill it.
Hello slashusr, thanks for your comment, and you’re on the mark. This is kind of a known trait with the Auto-Analyzer in PSE 8… You might want to take a look at the Adobe forum threads here and/or here.
Tried to download Files 1 & 2 of PSE 8 (pc) but it just directs me straight to PSE 9 download page. No good to me as my product key will not work on that one.
I have lost my original disc and just have empty box now. Please can someone help on this please. Thanks
Greetings, so Adobe’s site is going to the current version instead of giving the direct link to the older one… Their servers will do that if you’re not completely logged in with your Adobe ID. Please carefully follow the step-by-step download instructions above to give it another try and hopefully that will help.
@ProDesignTools
Thanks ProDesign
I had missed that link in above instructions.
Downloaded ok second time. Annoyingly Win7 does not come with a pre-installed WinZip programme so had to install free trial version of WinZip. Used ‘extract & install button’ on .7z folder. It did everything for me and programme once installed, accepted original serial number without any problems. Thanks for help.
Glad it worked out C, although normally you don’t need a special unzipping program. Just download both files (1 & 2) for Photoshop Elements and then run the .exe file – and it will take care of extracting the contents of the other file (the .7z archive)… that’s the last step in the download instructions above. But in any event, it’s still okay the way you did it.
The .exe file refused to work, don’t know if that is because I run Windows 7!
I just opened File 2 via WinZip and that did the job, thank goodness.
Need the direct download link for Adobe Audition 3.
No problem Ananta – by request, here is the direct link for the Adobe Audition 3 trial (available for Windows only).
Thank you for the link but it doesn’t work, can you please check it?
Yes, just checked it again – all the links work okay on our end.
Have you carefully followed the download instructions in the article above the link(s)? That’s essential to gain access to any of these direct download links.
Thank you, it’s working now.
thank you for After Effects
Hi Rohit – After Effects is not on this page, but you can easily download the trial for either After Effects CS4 (32-bit) or After Effects CS5.5 (64-bit).
Capture NX 2 and View NX 2 as the old Photoshop CS2 is running well on a Power Mac. Before I start for any test version of Lightroom 3, I would be very satisfied to know how much trouble I will get. Some days ago Lightroom 3 was explained as a dream from other photographers.
Merry Christmas hearing from you soon.
Kind wishes
Roman
Sure Roman, just see our new article on:
What are the Differences between Photoshop CS5 vs. Lightroom 3?
@ProDesignTools
This link is not working to download PSE 7… I have a new computer and can’t locate my disc to install… I was told to go here. I followed all download instructions, but when I click on it, it takes me to the PSE 10 trial download… I am signed in. I turned off all anti-virus, spyware and cookies.
Please help!!
Hey there, it works OK here and pulls PSE 7 from Adobe’s download servers, just as the link said… Clear your browser cache and cookies, and take it again from the top with the download instructions.
Or, you might try a different browser, computer, or Internet connection.
Beautiful! One of the only places that I could find that still had LR3 :)
Why Does It Say “Error When Trying To Changes Modules”
Greetings Ray, try this Knowledgebase help page:
Adobe Lightroom: Error changing modules
ProDesign, where are the GoLive 9 and FrameMaker 10 download links?
Additional:
FrameMaker 8 download links
For that matter, where is the download link for Elements 6?
Sorry Roland, we don’t have any of those listed – they are either too old or unusual… but if you find direct download links available for them, feel free to post them for others.
My wife knowing that I have been thinking about adding Light Room to my Photoshop, bought me Light Room 4 for Christmas. As she does not drive, and I take her most places, she bought this online from PC World. She rang them first, and asked a few questions, they did ask her what computer we had, she told them, and also the operating system. They said it will all be fine, and if you husband is looking to put CS6 on his computer, he will not have any problems…… Well wrong Mr. PC xxxxx World, as I am still using Windows XP Pro.
As I had not checked out Light Room 4, and my wife said they informed her it was fine, I did not notice in the blurb that XP was missing, I only found out when I tried to install it. Now of course, PC xxx World will not take it back.
Thank you PC World, and thank you Adobe for not making it clear enough, and being a pain for not supporting XP, even though CS6 works on XP. That is twice in 4 years that I have been stuffed on software.
Not a Happy Bunny
Hello Max, sorry for your troubles, but you came to the right place. It’s true that in the system requirements for Lightroom 4, it does not support Windows XP – and Adobe was clear about this when the product was released.
However, we have some good news. Even if you can’t return it to the vendor where you purchased it (the ones who gave you bad information), you could still in fact return it direct to Adobe if you want to.
Alternatively, we would also be happy to exchange it for a new & unopened copy of Lightroom 3 which we have in the offices here, which does work well on XP, if you prefer that… Just let us know.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for your assistance, it is good to find people willing to help. Unfortunately, at the time of posting the message on your website, I did not realise that you were not in the UK. I had been searching for some information, and although I had restricted the Google search to UK only, Google ignores that quite often.
Here in the UK organisations are less cooperative, the store will not take it back, and Adobe said take it back to the retailer.
This is not the first time I have had problems with Adobe products in the UK, they actually refused to allow me to upgrade on one occasion because they said the product had not been purchased from and authorised dealership. Even though it had been registered, and that the technical services had helped me over a long period to resolve a computer crashing problem. They checked the registration before assisting.
I have very little faith in Adobe, it’s a good product, I like the product, but the company’s ethics here in the UK are very poor, especially as over here we pay a premium over nearly ever other country.
Sorry to complain to you, I hope that your customers appreciate the help that you offer, and that Adobe service varies considerably around the world.
Thanks again for your very kind offer, and my apology for putting you to the trouble of replying to me when I am UK based.
Best wishes for 2013
regards Max
Well, in our view it’s still an problem with the online store it came from, as they’re the ones who gave you incorrect pre-sales information before you purchased the product… So ultimately Adobe isn’t at fault here, rather it should be a customer service issue and a valid return for the retailer.
Nonetheless, our previous offer still stands – since you aren’t able to use Lightroom 4 on your computer and the reseller isn’t taking it back, if you would like to send it to us here in the States, we’d be happy to exchange it and send you back a new unopened box of Lightroom 3 (for Windows XP) in an effort to help out in your situation. Just let us know.
I keep getting error pages for the Elements 8 download. Is the page down? Are you offering the download anymore?
Welcome Sara, these direct download links all still work fine – you just have to make sure to carefully follow the download instructions given above near the top of this page.
After downloading the Elements 8 two files to the same directory, when trying to run the exe file an error came up from Windows 7 that I have a 64 bit computer and the program stopped. What can be done at this time??
My Windows 7 64-bit computer has been set up, note new e-mail address.
Not sure J.R. – what is the exact text of the message? We would definitely need that in order to be able to assist… or you could just google it to see what turns up.
I downloaded the two files again. However I noticed that there was not an .exe extension on the file. By changing the file name to include the .exe extension program did install. My serial number from my existing records was not accepted so i just have the “trial version” I will try to identify my serial number from my subscription records
Thanks for all your help
Sure J.R., glad to help. And yes, sometimes your browser (especially IE) will drop the “.exe.” file extension on the executable… and if that happens, then your computer will not know how to open or run it.
But you figured out the right thing to do is just to rename it back, and re-add that .EXE extension. Good luck!
