hi, i unzipped the adobe photoshop file but its installer is prompting to update my browser and o/s… and i’m on windows 10
If you’re getting this error:
“Update required: Your browser or operating system is no longer supported. You may need to install the latest updates to your operating system.”
or this error:
“The installation cannot proceed as the installer file may be damaged. Download the installer file again.”
…then extract the files, turn off the Internet or Wi-Fi, and try to install the software again.

There is no password on any of these direct downloads.
Downloaded this because I need to use Ps on an older machine not running Windows 10. Unfortunately, it tells me that, even for Ps 2017, I need to update to Windows 10. Any way around this? I can’t update this computer atm.
What message are you getting specifically?

This warning message appears, so I cannot install old versions of Adobe software… The Macbook Pro is also giving this error:
“Install” needs to be updated.
The developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of macOS. Contact the developer for more information.

Sorry – because of major changes Apple made in macOS version 10.15, the installation of any Creative Cloud apps older than CC 2019 is not supported on Catalina and newer versions…

Which means that the CC 2017 apps listed in this page are not compatible with Catalina or Big Sur or Monterey. So we would suggest going with the newer CC 2019 or 2022 releases instead, as either of those should work for you:

Left a comment earlier, but not posted? Need answer with issue with Illustrator 2017 that was on my system and in use for over a year since purchasing my computer. Started crashing with a message about missing plugins? Do I have to purchase the program and reinstall that corrects the issue?
Not sure, Margaret – in your first comment, you said the problem was resolved?
A “missing plugins” error would not have anything to do with subscription status, and 2017 is not the latest version you can use with your subscription.
The latest release is Creative Cloud 2022, released last fall.
Please, can i use it on my computer which has 2GB ram?
Possibly. Older versions of Adobe software may run on systems with only 2GB of memory. However, it depends on the specifications of the rest of your computer as well…

Sure, it shouldn’t be too complicated. Does this help?
On Windows: Just unzip the downloaded file into a new folder, and then run the “Set-up.exe” executable file within that folder to begin the installation. Feel free to remove that folder once the installation has completed.
On macOS: Just double-click on the downloaded .dmg file to mount it on your computer and start the installation process.

Sorry, the CC 2017 versions of some tools (like the video apps) are no longer available, per:

However, the standalone/offline installers for newer releases of these apps – like CC 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, or 2022 – can be downloaded here:

Sorry, but that’s a dangerous idea and you won’t find one here – because besides being illegal, you have no clue what it could do and how badly it can mess up your system (and steal your personal data & privacy):

Another suggestion would be to download & run the Adobe Cleaner Tool:

…and then reboot your system (don’t skip this), and start again with the installation of your CC tools.

Now after a few years, the problem arises again and asks.
At the moment, after replacing my computer with better specs than before, the after effects cc2017 program installed but it won’t run without warning messages, symptoms.
The same 2017 versions of photoshop and illustrator work fine, but I’m having issues only with after effects.
This is after effects only, and only occurs on recently-purchased better-performing computers.
Do you know any solution for this?
When I run the program without any symptoms, only the forced termination phenomenon is repeated.

after effects cc 2017: when i try to use that program, the program exits without any symptoms.
A program that I used to use often, while replacing my computer with higher specs.
Reinstalling seems to cause problems on that computer.
If I install the program on my old computer with the same software, it works fine.
Both photoshop and illustrator cc 2017 work fine, so the problem only occurs with after effects.
Can you find a solution for this?
Yes, we’d suggest using a more recent version of After Effects on your newer/faster computer – like Creative Cloud 2023…
It (the latest release) will be included in your same paid subscription, now that you have a better computer.
Creative Cloud 2017 is over six years old and no longer supported by Adobe.

Adobe’s free trial periods are typically 7 days long – but effectively speaking, you can actually use the software for up to 21 days at no cost.

I installed the newest version of creative cloud and illustrator on my new computer and then installed illustrator 2017 using the link above. When I open the older version it will only let me open old files that were created on my old computer. I cannot create new artboards. Any ideas on how to fix this issue would be much appreciated.

Older versions of software can only open older files. Newer versions generally can open newer files plus older files. That’s because the file format usually changes (evolves) with each new version of the application, to support new features added in later releases. Older versions naturally cannot understand the newer features or formats which were added after they shipped.

Thank you for your response, but I’m not sure my question was understood. I am not trying to open files created in the new version. I just want to be able to use the 2017 version to create new artwork. When I open it, I cannot create anything. There is no artboard. “Create New” does not work. None of the tools work.
Is it something to do with the settings when two versions are installed?
Your advice would be much appreciated.

Hi there, not sure what issue you’re having, but we just tested the direct download link above and had no problems at all…
We were able to successfully install the download for Photoshop CC 2017 (Ps version 18.1.7) and run it under our current Creative Cloud subscription, not as the trial version.
After installing the app, the first screen we saw was “Sign In Required – Please sign in with your Adobe ID”:
After accepting the Adobe Software License Agreement, a “Thank You” screen comes up:
…and then Photoshop CC 2017 started up as normal and was fully licensed, not a trial.
Normally, we would say to try deactivating (signing out) and reactivating (signing back into) the software, and see if that helps.
If not, then see Adobe’s help page for activation and deactivation troubleshooting.

Hello, downloads for some tools like premiere and after effects just leads to adobe download and install help. You mentioned before that this was due to adobe taking down those links. Will anything be done about these links that don’t work? Where can i get these downloads from now? Thanks and regards.
Very sorry, those links aren’t coming back. Customers are fortunate to have any of these older versions available at all – even if just for some tools – because as you read in that article, these installers are not officially supported. So Adobe will not add more.
The best we could suggest would be to try the still-available installers for these newer releases instead:

How can we trust that no malware, virus is injected in this file.
Is it legal or not.
There’s no malware. These are the original product installers, the authentic and secure files residing on Adobe’s servers – and are guaranteed genuine, 100% safe and virus-free.
And because the download files are coming directly from Adobe’s own servers, they are of course also completely legal.
If it’s a direct Adobe server link, then how come you only get the link – why I can’t, is there any permission gotten from adobe

So is there no way to get CC 2017? I have CC 2017 11.1.4 installed on my laptop and just got a new PC. Is it possible to bring that software over with an external drive? Thanks.
Hey Aaron, which application are you referring to? Premiere Pro?
Adobe software cannot be copied from drive to drive, if that’s what you’re asking… Here’s the only way to move it between systems:

I am referring to Adobe premiere pro CC 2017. The method in that guide no longer works for this application because you cannot download it from the CC desktop app or anywhere from Adobe. So I’m guessing there is no way to transfer the software or obtain it legally. :( I’m in the middle of a large project editing with .DV files that are no longer supported in newer versions of Premiere. I would lose countless hours of work (importing and going through almost 1000 hours of tapes) if I can’t figure out how to get 2017 on my new computer. I spent two days trying to move the app from my old laptop to my computer and ultimately came to a dead end.

If you figure out any way to transfer the installation from your old computer to your new computer, please let us know… We have not heard of that working in the past, but maybe there is some way to do it out there.
