Thank you for mentioning my blog and the work I did and am still doing on the Adobe direct download links in your post.

Thank you SO much, I have an older machine and can’t run the latest After Effects or Premiere CS5 so I have been looking for these everywhere — you are a lifesaver!!!
this is really helpful and needed. thanks a lot.
thanks, dude! I only have XP, so I couldn’t use cs5
Sure, you’re all very welcome! But actually if you have Windows XP you can still use most of CS5… See the top CS5 questions here or the complete system requirements here.
The only CS5 applications that won’t run on XP are Premiere Pro CS5 and After Effects CS5. All the others – Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, et al – whether part of a CS5 suite or standalone, will run just fine on Windows XP. The CS5 trial downloads for all products can be found here.
But for Premiere Pro and After Effects, that’s where CS4 especially comes in very handy, to handle those types of situations.
I click on the download and it takes me to adobe.com. How do I download the cs4 programs?
Yeah, I figured it out, never mind. :)
I downloaded after effects fine but when i go and click premiere it redirects me to adobe and tells me to download CS5. What should i do? please help
Hi @J, you didn’t say which language but we just tried and tested all 12 Premiere Pro CS4 links and they all seem to be working and downloading CS4 fine, can’t seem to reproduce any problem… People have been downloading dozens of them for days without difficulty, so it may have been a temporary or network issue.
Please be sure to carefully follow the 6 steps of instructions given above (which you need to do each time because the Adobe site login times out), and try giving it another shot, perhaps from another computer or browser… In particular, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) doesn’t work as well as other browsers. Thank you for your feedback!
Works great, thanks a mill! I’m on a 32-bit PC so was stuck.
i went to the trouble of downloading all 4 files for after effects cs4, it took 2 hours!!!!! and to my dismay, the supposed u.s. files were actually western european and i wasn’t able to install them on my xp!!!!! please upload the right files for u.s. version of after effects cs4. thank you. :-)
Hi Lana, thanks for your comment. Those files are actually the correct English files but I understand the mix-up… For After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Production Premium, there’s actually no difference between the English and European downloads – it’s the same files, the “LS7″s. All the other products have different downloads, but for just these three it’s the same across all geographies.
Anyway, hundreds of readers have downloaded the After Effects CS4 files this week without difficulty, and to be sure we just verified them again ourselves… Here’s a screenshot of the language selection screen from those downloads, if it helps. Thanks again for helping clarify this.
i downloaded the two links for my computer but i can’t install them, how do you ?
Hi, please follow the product installation instructions here.
If you can’t find the files you downloaded, check your Desktop… If it doesn’t happen automatically, you want to double-click on the Setup.exe file.
hi! Are there any links of the CS4 trial download for the Chinese language?
Sorry to bother you again. I’ve downloaded all four files (including extra content) for Adobe Premiere Pro. They two .rar files add up to roundabout 4 gigabytes. But when extracted in the folder (Adobe CS4) the folder is only 3 gigabytes.
When the setup launches automatically does it also install the extra content?
I thought it did at first but I’m not sure now.
Thanks~
Thank you @J – this is a good question to clarify, and so we just added some more text above…
The extra content file(s) are optional downloads that require a separate installation process (.exe on Windows or .dmg on Mac).
@Susanna – No, I’m sorry we have been unable to find Chinese… but if you do, please let us know – thank you!
Can you tell us what exactly is in these “extra content” downloads?
It varies from product to product, and typically isn’t critically necessary to run the core app, but can be helpful to have.
For example, in After Effects CS4, the extra content (also referred to as the “Functional Content”) is called Template Projects & Footage Installer.
For Premiere Pro CS4, it’s the Adobe Encore CS4 Library Install.
Generally it can contain other resources like online manuals and so on… So, not absolutely essential for the core product, but is nice if you want to take the time to add it.
@ProDesignTools
Thank you so much!! Just what I needed to know :)
I’m so glad I found this site!! :D
Merci. Liens utiles, rapides et fonctionnels.
Thank you for these useful, speedy and working links.
Hi i just followed all of your instructions but when i click on the exe file i get this message:
“The file archive part of Adobe After Effects CS4 Installer is missing. You need all parts in the same folder in order to extract Adobe After Effects CS4 Installer. Please download all parts.”
But i followed all of your instructions and both of the files ( exe and 7Z file ) are in the same folder so i’m not really sure what i should do now? Please could you help :)
Hi Sammie, for that message, this support page may be of assistance.
Also sometimes if you have put these downloaded files on a different drive than where you want to install them to, that can cause problems.
Another possibility is that the second file (the “file archive”) got downloaded as a text document instead of a .7z file… In other words, some computers for some strange reason occasionally append a .TXT suffix to that File 2. But that will not work, that second file needs to have a .7Z suffix – so if that’s what you see, then you could rename it to remove whatever extension it has and replace that with .7z instead.
If these suggestions don’t fix the issue, please double-check to make sure you have a “matched pair” of files… There are a lot of links above and it’s possible to have downloaded the .exe from one, but the .7z from another. A matched pair will have the same exact filename except for the different file extensions.
Worst case, you start over, use a new directory to download to, follow all the instructions carefully, and then review the comments above if you continue to have any difficulty.
One final note – if you would like to verify you have an accurate and complete download, you can cross-check against the official MD5 checksum values for both After Effects CS4 and Premiere Pro CS4. If the numbers match, then you know your files are good.
Hope this helps!
Hello
I’ve signed into Adobe and returned to the download page but links continue to take me to the “Resume Downloads” page. I’ve signed out and back in, created a new account, used a different browser and OS but the same results. What am I doing wrong?
Hi, usually seeing “Resume Downloads” is a sign the Akamai Download Manager wants to take over and you need to sign in at Adobe to get the direct download… Normally if you’re continuing to get that message, you can just clear the adobe.com cookies (and cache) on your browser and restart, relogin there, and then come back here to click the DDL. But if you’ve done that, and also tried a different Adobe account, browser, computer, and net connection, that’s a bit of a stumper…
Hundreds of people are direct-downloading CS5 and CS4 here every day though, so there must be some other explanation. Over on our CS5 direct download links page, there’s an extensive step-by-step list posted for someone that was having repeated difficulties getting their downloads to work… Why don’t you take a look and see if the suggestions given there help you out. Thanks for your feedback.
@Scooby
Strange… It would seem that waiting an hour and then trying to download a program that I hadn’t tried earlier (Fireworks) has somehow fixed the problem and now all programs download without that nasty “resume downloads” window. Happy days.
Thanks for your efforts
Thank you SO much! This is GREAT!
Hey thanks for the info. I am already downloading it for my Mac Mini Power PC G4 Mac Os X 10.5.6. Now I am looking for photoshop suitable for an Ibook G4 Mac Os X 10.4.11. Any link to download a free trial? Thanks a Bunch
Hello Mimie, you’re very welcome. What’s covered here is what we’ve found, and for your particular needs you might be able to find something on the ftp server listed above.
I tried downloading Photoshop CS4 but when I click ‘File 1 for Mac’ the link opens up the Adobe website for Photoshop CS5.
Why does this happen and is there any way to solve it as I would like Photoshop CS4?
