  1. I’m a student and I have been getting by with my CS3 Design Premium well enough until some miscellaneous “licensing error” shut down my entire suite AND my Fireworks CS4 (all legitimate, purchased and with serial numbers). Well, downloading the trial version of this is my only recourse now since my disk has been scratched (and a long trouble-shooting session with 4 different Adobe agents, which ended in me un-installing my programs and being unable to reinstall) and this is the only place that I can even find the files so I’m grateful for that. However…

…after following the instructions, and doing the long download of the .exe file, I am being asked what program I should use to open the file, and I have no idea what program I am to use to open this file! Please help!

  3. Hi… whenever i try to download them i get redirected to the adobe site where it says you must sign in (all the while it says Hello cj! in the right corner of the webpage…) please help! (win 7 pro 64x w/ IE8)

    • Hello cj, something’s gotten crossed up in your browser state, it appears…
Try logging out of the Adobe site and then logging back in with your Adobe ID, and try the download again from this page.
If that doesn’t work, then clear your browser cache and try again.
If continued no luck, then clear your browser cookies and try again.
If still no success, try a different browser. Hope this helps.

  4. hi, i have followed the instructions, and when i try to install, it never makes any progress on extracting the files, but i havent ever gotten an error

  5. Well first of all i had to change this file name ADBEAFETCS4_LS7 to a .exe because im using Explorer. But to answer your question, i just get a window with a loading bar, and above it “please wait while the downloaded files are being extracted.” Its been about an hour and no progress whatsoever. BTW thank you for the speedy answer!

    • Okay, thanks JD… Well, if your IE browser dropped the file extension for your .exe file, it may have done the same thing for the .7z file… So please check to make sure the other file for AE CS4 is named ADBEAFETCS4_LS7.7z

If it is, then you may be having issues with an incomplete or corrupted download… Here are the MD5 checksums for After Effects CS4 and Premiere Pro CS4 to see if your files downloaded fully and correctly.

If the checksums do not match, then you’ll have to try the download again. The best advice to solve it: avoid Wi-Fi, and try a different browser, computer, and/or internet connection. Good luck!

    • Good – that means you have the files you need and they are correctly downloaded, so we’ve done our part… Not sure why you’re having trouble installing. But most importantly, make sure both files are in the same directory and located on the same drive as where you want to install the software to.

If you want, you can try to extract the .7z archive files yourself (without using the .exe to do it, and using the 7-Zip utility instead), and then run the installation setup from the extracted folder.

Your best bet if you continue to have problems is to consult Adobe’s Installation Troubleshooting pages for CS4: on XP, on Vista, and on Mac OS.

Hope this helps and please let us know if you find a solution to the problem.

  6. No matter what I do, I cannot get the CS3 downloads to work. I get the same “Log in to…bla bla” stuff in every browser I try, PC or Mac, wired or wifi connections, even after clearing the browser cache, clearing cookies, logging in with a new Adobe account and logging into one I’ve had for years. And then I can only download the usual CS5.

I even see the “Welcome, Kate!” in the corner of Adobe’s “Log in to…” screen. Urgh. And I cannot find another download link for CS3 Design Premium. I have my serial number, my discs are just damaged!!

    • Sorry Kate you’re having problems, especially since it sounds like you’re trying everything that’s been suggested (in the previous comments) and doing it the right way! It’s puzzling and we have no explanation, but thousands of people do download these trials successfully every week, so they should be working.

Normally, clearing your browser cache/cookies, or trying again with a different browser, computer and/or Internet connection (avoiding Wi-Fi) will help. Also, reviewing the download instructions in the article above and carefully following each step. You could even try creating/using a different Adobe ID login.

Curiously, the best suggestion now is just to wait a little while… This fellow and this one too had similar problems which apparently solved themselves on their own after a bit of time had passed.

Hope that helps and please let us know how you make out – thanks!

  7. Hi, how do you exactly download cs4 trial, i click on the first file and run it but an error message keeps coming up saying ‘The file archive part of Adobe after effects CS4 is missing. You need all parts in the same folder in order to extract Adobe after effects CS4 installer. Please download all parts’ so which one do i download first then :S please may you give me a simple guide on how to solve this. Thanks

    • Hey there Ben – just checked it and it continues to work fine here…

Make sure you’re following the instructions carefully, and see the comments above yours for suggestions on things to try if you’re not having success – thanks.

  8. Thanks a million for this… Adobe changes workflows as much as Apple changes video dongles… it’s ridiculous.

For smaller studios that skip versions (like ours), having these demos available is a huge time saver.

  9. To anyone who is having issues downloading files (and getting the “Login to resume your Adobe download” page), no matter what instructions they follow:

I found a new way to trigger the downloads!

From this page, begin to download a current trial, even if you don’t plan to use it: http://www.adobetrials.com

Then while the Akami download manager is open, downloading your new file, come back to this page and click a link. It works! After days and days of clearing cookies, logging in and out, trying different browsers, connections, computers, etc., this was the first time the download ever worked.

  11. i keep trying to download after effects cs3 and cs4 but all i continue to get is this error message:

“Set up has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact adobe customer support for assistance.
Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install.”

    help please?

    • Greetings Crystal, it sounds like one of your installations somehow got interrupted and is now preventing another from completing…

The first thing to try would be to download the Adobe CS5/CS4/CS3 Cleaner Tool, run that, reboot your computer, and then try again.

If that doesn’t work, then please try the suggestions for that error message given on this page or possibly on this page. Hopefully one of those solutions will work for you!

  12. Could you please tell me which files in CS4 need to have their extensions changed to .exe? When I try to open the files it asks me what I would like to open them with.

I have read through 10 pages of comments but cannot figure out which ones I need to change file extensions for. Also, do I just add .exe to the end of the file names?

    Reply
    • Hello Patti, it’s a bit of a puzzle to solve but if you’ve downloaded multiple files and your browser has lost the extensions, the best thing to do is go back to the links above that you downloaded them from, and hover your mouse over each of the links (don’t click)…

When you hover your mouse, look at the bar at the bottom of your browser. The last part will tell you the full filenames of the files. Then you can rename each of them using Windows.

Usually it’s the small(er) files that are .exe’s, and the large(r) ones that are .7z’s. Yes, just appending those extensions to the filenames will do the trick.

(Or alternatively if that doesn’t work for you, you could download them again from another browser besides Microsoft Internet Explorer that won’t drop the file extensions.)

  13. I have successfully downloaded and extracted the Adobe Photoshop CS3 trial from here, but when i go to click the file ‘setup.exe’ to install the program, it shows a microsoft windows window showing a sheet of paper moving from one file to another, with an empty loading bar, this loading bar stays with no progress for a few seconds before the whole thing disappears?! Any help would be great :)

    • That one’s a complete mystery Dave, but since it’s happening after you’ve successfully downloaded and extracted the package, it sounds like it’s something having to do with your particular computer, settings, or configuration…

One suggestion would be to make sure the folders and files are on the same disk drive as where you would like to install the product to. Or, try installing the CS3 or CS4 trial you downloaded on another system and see if it finishes.

Please let us know if you figure out what’s holding up your computer from completing the setup – thanks and good luck!

    • Welcome Luke, which product are you trying to install? Did you have any difficulties with the download? Where did you put the product files? What disk are you trying to install to? How many times have you tried it? Are you running any antivirus software? (try temporarily turning it off) Have you rebooted your computer recently? What other Adobe products do you currently have installed, if any? Have you ever run an Adobe trial before, or this same product? Were there any errors given at all or other messages? Have you tried installing those files on a different computer? Thanks.

  14. Im trying to install after effects CS4, no problems downloading either of the 2 files for windows. They’re both on my desktop and ive tried running setup 4 times, even trying restarting my computer. Have never had this product before or an adobe one with a trial. my only other adobe software is flash player.

    • OK Luke, that helps… It’s possible you may have an incomplete or corrupted download. Here are the MD5 checksums for After Effects CS4 – please check against them to see if your files downloaded fully and correctly.

If the checksums do not match, then you’ll have to try the download again… The best advice to solve it: avoid Wi-Fi, and try a different browser, computer, and/or internet connection.

If the checksums do match, then you indeed have the proper and complete files – and it must be some funky issue with your particular computer. See the previous comment for possible questions to ask or try.

    • Luke, did you try the other things suggested in our first response?

Do you have enough disk space? Do you have administrator privileges to install it? (right-click the icon and “Run as Administrator”)

See this forum thread for more possibilities to consider – we’re out of ideas… Good luck!

  15. Hello! I’m trying to download the flash pro for english Mac. I could save the file but whenever I open it another warning window open that says “The following disk images couldn’t be opened image ‘ADBEFLPRCS4_LS1.dmg’ Reason ‘not recognized’.” Please help, why can’t I download the Adobe Flash Pro CS4 for Mac (English)… Just so you know I could download Illustrator and Photoshop CS4 – it’s just flash that’s not working… I really need this to work please help
    Thanks in advance

    • Hey there Z, unfortunately have never heard of anything like that before… No one here has ever mentioned any problem with that Adobe trial before, and googling that error message basically turns up nothing as well. Perhaps if the other CS4 trials downloaded and installed fine for you, just try downloading that one again from scratch to make sure you got it OK?

  16. I have downloaded Adobe After Effects CS3 for Windows Vista 32-bit operating system. Both the trial, and the bonus features. So roughly 2gb worth of downloading. I did the 7-zip option and everything, but behold the installation wont work. And yes i had installation for an adobe download open so that was done correctly.

The following message shows “Error Occurred during setup.” And other details not describing the error such as requesting i visit adobe support. Then it says “A system restart will finish installation”, which is odd because it just told me it was unsuccessful, now it says it’s successful. So i restart the computer, but nothing happens. Tried installing again, but nothing works. I’ve ran this under admin before, and after zipping it. And again does not work at all.

I installed this from Mozilla Firefox, which however is the most stable browser, and best for downloading. So i don’t see the issue being Firefox. My system is in no way corrupted or is the registry messed up. It might be something simple I’m missing, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.
