  1. I am a retired College Prof, and have embraced photography as a hobby virtually all my life. As a non-professional photographer, I have enhanced my digital photography skills, and hobby, through “digital image manipulations”. I found the “Elements” line a wonderful series to enrich my photographic skills and have finally managed to have some of my slideshows (with musical background) published on YouTube.

Found Photoshop too demanding (time, and price) and as strictly a non-professional photographer have embraced your Elements series, from version 2, I think.
But, you keep coming out with Elements Series too fast for me to keep up. Currently have version 7 on one computer and version 8 on another.
Found so little difference between 7 and 8!
The question is, “is it worthwhile for me to invest in Elements version 11?”

Don’t want to “try” it, since I don’t have time and inclination to find out what may or may not be “better”, and can never find out from the “cursory” descriptions how I could really benefit from the “advanced” versions.

Do you really think that version 11 will be a great improvement (over 7, or 8)?
Appreciate any comments and also, tell me of any discount if I upgrade my version 7, or 8 to 11?

    • Hi Ludwig, thanks for your comment and questions. One of the biggest and most important changes in version 11 is improved ease of use. Adobe has heard the frequent feedback that even Photoshop Elements can be somewhat complicated for beginners to learn, and created a more intuitive editing environment with three settings: Basic, Guided, and Expert. So no matter what your level of proficiency, and no matter how far you want to go with the program, you will find it easier to get your work done in Photoshop Elements 11 and learn more by doing so.

The Organizer was reengineered as well, to be faster and more stable. And there are new features in there too, such as Refine Edge for complex selections, plus maps for photo geolocation. We’ll have an in-depth article soon on the differences, but in the meantime check out our Elements 11 Release Guide with a review.

This is just what’s been added to 11 since version 10. The Elements product line comes out every fall so naturally there were also changes between versions 10 vs. 9, and between 9 vs. 8 (which added content-aware plus layer masks).

If you upgrade from any older version you will receive a discounted price from Adobe, and you can easily do the upgrade after using the trials linked above on this page, without the need to reinstall. Your photo catalog will also automatically migrate up from your prior release.

      Hope this helps!

  2. Hi there, I’ve purchased the Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 & Adobe Premiere Elements 11 discs from a shop. I don’t have a disc drive on my computer, they told me in the shop that I could download from your website and just put in my product number from my discs I purchased. I can’t seem to find anywhere on your site I can do this, I’ve only found this one above but seems to just be the free trial. Could you please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

    • Hey there Karen, you’re at the right place! You just download the free trial(s) above and then you activate the product permanently by entering your valid serial number when it asks. That’s it.

The software is the same, in fact the version on your discs is actually a free trial as well – it’s the license key you purchased from Adobe that makes all the difference.

      Hope this helps!

  3. Hi!

I own a legitimate Photoshop Elements 1.0 CD, came with a camera I bought many years ago.
Now I would like to install it, but a wide scratch over the CD surface doesn’t allow me to successfully do that.

So I thought to download it from Adobe website, but I cannot find any download for Photoshop Elements but version 11.

Even if I (just today, indeed) registered the product by its serial number on Adobe site, nevertheless I can’t see anything about it in My Adobe account as well (obviously in My Orders there is nothing, as I took my Elements 1 as a bundle).

My question is: where can I download Photoshop Elements 1.0?

Thank you in advance for your kind help.

    • So sorry, wish we could help you somehow but Photoshop Elements 1.0 is almost twelve years old now, and we have no direct download link for it… Really only recent versions here, going back to PSE 8.

And it looks like you have already tried Adobe’s FTP server for old software, so there’s nothing else we could add except to say that PSE 1.0 does still qualify for an upgrade discount to the latest release, if that’s something you wanted to consider.

      Best of luck with it!

  4. Thank you for your prompt reply.
I guessed this could happen: PSE 1 is really an old version, and I made a mistake in trusting a backup copy to be not necessary.
Thanx for your suggestion ’bout the upgrade discount (even if PSE 1 is even more than I need for my needs), I’ll give a look on it.

    Bye

  6. I just purchased a Microsoft Surface Pro computer. I have Photoshop Elements 6 on my old computer and would like to transfer it to my new computer but don’t know how to do so. I will probably upgrade once I get the old Elements 6 transferred. Please advise.

    Thanks, Ron

  7. I’m sorry but this web page is really confusing, I can’t see anything at the top of the page that looks like a download and where are the instructions? I can’t see them. Maybe I’ll just give it a miss. Or is it because I need to create an Adobe account?

    • Hey Gary, not really sure what to say – the step-by-step instructions are just above under “Note: Very Important Instructions,” and the download links are under “Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 (PSE 11) Direct Download Links,” for both Windows and Mac OS.

Creating an Adobe ID (if asked) would literally take 30 seconds.

  8. Are we on the same page? There is no direct download links or very important instructions, it just seems to be a comments page.

  9. I currently own PS Elements 11 and have it installed on my desktop. I’m thinking about buying a Surface Pro – can you confirm if I can use PSE 11 on a Surface Pro?

    Reply
    • Well, checking the complete system requirements for Photoshop Elements 11, the Windows 8 o/s is supported – and the Microsoft Surface Pro is a full Windows 8 device – so you should be able to run it.

While we haven’t tried it ourselves here, being compatible and able to install these kinds of applications is perhaps Surface Pro’s biggest selling point as a tablet.

  10. “Adobe has not released new “Bonus Content” for Premiere Elements 11, but the Additional Content for PRE 10 (containing InstantMovie themes, title templates, DVD/Blu-ray menu templates, and music to enhance movies you create) should continue to work with version 11.”

How would one go about setting that up? :) I have Premiere Elements 11 and the Elements 10 content download.

Well, I tried a few things. None of them worked out. It appears that, in order to retain templates and other content from a prior version, you have to have a prior version installed – not just the content. I tried installing the content before and after installation of Premiere Elements 11 but still ended up downloading the “online content” from within the program.

I’m out 3 GB and, if long-time users are to be believed, a few stock images and sounds that no longer come in the package. My Premiere Elements 11 complaint so far: the menu bar (toolbar dressed like menu bar) does not track the mouse after a dropdown is activated. Exceedingly annoying and amateurish.
