  1. I had been a Photoshop user since its first release. As a photographer developing my own photos, it was an eye opener what the software can do. Lately I have drifted away from Adobe products (my last touch point was Elements) to Nikon NX. My understanding is that the Lightroom product is far more powerful that allows me to do a lot more than my NX as well as integrating all my other gear like WaCOM tablet and Huey calibration tool.

I look forward to my own copy of LR4 so that I can come back to the Adobe family for my photo enhancement needs.

  2. I have elements 8 and was checking out lightroom 3 to see if it would be easier to use. Now that Lightroom 4 is coming out I would be interested in winning a copy, but lightroom 3 will probably be a better option to purchase for the value when 4 comes out.

  3. I spent the latter (30 years) part of my working life as a professional photographer in various fields. I retired in 1999 as the digital era was beginning and am self taught in digital photography from that point and loving it in hobby form with the interest now being landscapes.

Although the purist will say that the image should be produced only in the camera, the darkroom era was always about manipulation be it dodging, burning, perspective correction or any other of the myriad tricks we used. Adobe products have brought all these skills, and considerably more, to the digital darkroom and are an absolute delight to use. I am sure that Photoshop CS6 and Lightroom 4 will only add to the enjoyment of this 76 year-old enthusiast.

  4. I’ve tried every Photoshop Lightroom version from the free trials. Would own a version that doesn’t run out on me and allows me to save. Lightroom Rocks! Hope I win!

  5. i have never used an adobe dam or editing product. i have only recently come to digital photography after 30 years of wet darkroom (which will continue). i became frustrated with my camera manufacturer’s editor and bought a lightroom manual written by mr. evening hoping to gain insight.

i liked what i read so much that i decided to purchase lightroom 3 and nik color management. while reading and watching tutorials by ms. kost i learned of lightroom 4. so, all is on hold until the release.

  6. Hi. I am fairly new to photography and heard that I absolutely must use the Adobe Lightroom for editing. So I started googling and came to your page. I would totally love to win a new Lightroom 4!! Keeping my fingers crossed… but in the meantime I am editing on a free version of Photoscape. It’s ok, but I would love something that the pros use!

  7. I currently do not have any photo software on my computer. Previously I have used Google Picasa to edit some photos to put in frames. I take 1000s of photos each year of my family and really don’t do much with them and have decided its time to get them organised. I currently have a trial of elements 10 and lightroom 3.6 on my computer trying to decide which one to use. If I get a free Lightroom 4 I guess that’s the one i’ll be using for the next few years.

  8. I use Lightroom 3 now and love it! And getting the new video features in L4 will make this 200% better. Have downloaded the beta of 4 but haven’t installed yet. But still planning to buy it when it ships, for sure.

I would use Lightroom 4 to better organize my personal collection of videos (and photos) and maybe even for organizing my paid video projects, depending on the features and how well it connects with Premiere Pro.

  9. I use LR 3.7 and planning on buying LR4 since I heard about the soft preview function (finally) becoming part of the functionality. I will be trying the beat which I only just heard about. If it does not have the soft print I will not be impressed. I use LR as my primary editing and cataloging software for digital images.

  10. I have been using Lightroom – started with version 1, and now have version 3 – for a while now, and I love it! It makes organizing and “tweaking” photos so much easier than anything else I’ve seen. I don’t really use Photoshop that much any more, because Lightroom can do most of the changes I want, and much easier. Photoshop is now reserved for making more major changes like erasing unwanted objects (can do that a little in LR, but it’s a bit awkward and it works much better in PS) or putting together two or more photos, etc.

I am always recommending LR to anyone I meet who does photography. I just watched the video describing the new features available in LR 4, and really hope to be able to get it when it is released (would love it even better if I could win it! ;-) So far I mostly use my photos to make blank greeting cards and prints, which I sell locally to friends. I’ve made a couple of Blurb books, and have ideas for quite a few more, so I love the idea of being able to do it completely from LR instead of having to find and export all the photos and have all that extra space used up on my hard drive.

After having 4 different models of point & shoots (the last one a super-zoom which actually took great photos), I finally just got my first DSLR, and am learning the ropes with it. I’m looking forward to a lot of spring nature photography, and LR4 would be a great asset to help me with post processing!

  11. I currently am using Bridge as my Photo management =< and been looking at Lightroom for better management of Photos as my collection grows.

From the looks of it (beta), Lightroom is what I need to help manage my photo collection. Bridge has worked but it is time for an upgrade and what I can do. I have read a lot about how Lightroom can help and is better than Bridge and I cannot wait to be able to us this on a daily basis.

  13. I have LR 3 and it works fine – I have not tried the beta 4 but I’ve heard great, exciting things. I probably will upgrade to LR4 and this could help me do just that! Thank you for the chance!

  15. I use LR3 and have not tried yet the beta version of LR4,which I intend to upgrade. I want to try out the video some day and I’m interested also in trying the new features in Develop mode and also the Book mode.

It’s a great improvement over LR3 Good luck to all.

  16. I have LR3 and it would seem LR4 is a significant upgrade with it’s processing.

I am also about to upgrade my PC, going to a Mac with a dual-boot, so LR4 64bit would be something to have.

  17. I was a Lightroom user but switched to Aperture when I bought a new MBP because I thought the integration was going to be easier. It’s not. And everyday I use it, I wish I never switched. I’m planning on making the switch back with the new Lightroom release.
