Lightroom 3 is a great addition and alternative to Photoshop. The file management system is superb and the workflow seamless and intuitive.
It offers a quick way to develop your raw files with added features not found in Photoshop.
The slide and print features are excellent.
This will be my prime program for opening and saving images.
cs5 is my dream come true!
illustrators new brushes as well as the fill-in background option in photoshop will be a great help for me.
i am a full-time teacher, and designing attractive stencils and sheets is most important to me since in piques the interests of my dear students.
The content-aware is a great new tool in CS5. Takes the work out of cloning in most cases.
CS5 is amazing. It has made life easier, lots of features which will help the designers to do the work quickly and with high quality. I like the 3D perspective, Flash Catalyst which will help designer to be a developer too :), realistic painting, content awareness in photoshop.
Oh how wonderful my new Photoshop CS5 is. To me it is better than any new toy I have ever bought. A book would do wonders to help me out learning all sort of neat things but the tutorials are wonderful! Please keep them coming.
I am a student taking an online class and am not happy with my instructor. I am self teaching myself this program. I could use a book to view for Dreamweaver CS5. I love the features I have learned so far. It is incredible.
If one is a first time user of Photoshop, and is starting with CS5, what is the best book for beginners?
Hi Joan, thanks for your question. Definitely can recommend the Classroom in a Book series as mentioned above, which are the world’s best-selling series of self-paced training books and now come with hours of video instruction on DVD as well.
For Photoshop CS5, Martin Evening’s book is also quite well-regarded.
I am most impressed with the new content aware fill. I’ve been using the creative suite series since cs3, and I must say it has made making photo-effects a lot easier and more perfect. I do have to say I’m not a designer of any kind, everything i’ve done so far is self-study… that’s why the Classroom in a Book would be very useful to me :-)
Hi, i have being running my own freelancing business and i have being using CS2, NOW im using CS3…on 1 gig RAM and is not doing me justice…so i need to know if it is possible to get funding, maybe a sponsorship in getting the software so i can upgrade my PORTFOLIO to be attractive…because i just recently finished a diploma in ART & DESIGN in 2008 where i dealt with CS3… i believe CS5 is the future (CS6, CS7, 8, 9, 10…I DONT KNOW).
I am thrilled by the content-aware and high definition capabilities in Photoshop and cannot wait to explore the web materials.
am moving away from Windows machines where I have mastered (ish) CorelDraw to an iMac and I cannot take my CorelDraw with me!
Illustrator is a foreign language at the moment but I feel I am getting there slowly and a book would be a valuable asset and help me to use this in anger!
Photoshop CS5 is the ultimate in well-conceived and presented software for the photographer and graphic artist. The new features are, by far, the most time-saving and efficient features of all graphic programs.
The results obtained are the best I have ever obtained and the content aware and puppet warp are simple to use and a major advancement in Adobe’s creativity.
thanks a lot!!!!! :)
Just installed CS5. Never know the right questions to ask to get help. A book would be most useful. Too bad it’s additional; didn’t all programs used to come with a helpful manual to keep at your fingertips? It’s kind of like the additional charge to take luggage on a flight.
Hi Cindy, thanks for your comment. Regarding product documentation, you can find free online manuals for all Adobe CS5 software here… hope this helps!
I see adobe as my path to freedom. I cant afford to have someone build an e-learning platform for me and I refuse to give my teaching ideas away to educational institutions who just use and abuse the teachers that are the foundation of their existence, Give me Free!!!

I like Adobe CS5 because there is software for just about everything. In addition, it’s versatile, each piece of software has uses within uses. I’m still just a college student studying Graphic Design, which is what I would be using these books and my software for, and I don’t have all the skills I need to utilize everything in the Adobe CS5 products yet – but what I’ve seen I’m impressed with.
I have wanted CS5 for so long to edit my pictures. I am a photographer and have used Elements. I feel that CS5 would help make my pics better.
I would like to get the copy of the book.
Thank you.
Adobe Software is tops in my book; Can’t really say anyone or anything comes close to the experiences I am having using Creative Suite 5.
CS5 is by far the greatest thing Ive ever had in my hands. Coming from no art background, and no real art or design disciplines, CS5 has opened doors of opportunity to me. Ive started a company with CS5 and I’m still learning how to operate it efficiently, I know no boundaries. I have my design friends that know how to use the products but dont have it themselves. They show me more about how to use the product, and by doing so they go out and buy adobe products. Love adobe products and just how its presented to the customer.
The more I learn about CS5 the more I want to explore everything it has to offer. I have had experiences with other design packages and they do not compare to CS5. It makes the complicated projects simple and helps a design student, such as myself to understand the various ways to approach solution. This software has become another part of my tool box that I will use endlessly.
The content-aware is a great new tool in CS5. Takes the work out of cloning in most cases.
Great Software!
Enough said.
I just got home from two years of serving as a missionary and helping others. Coming back to my world of graphic design and photography is really exciting, and CS5 looks like a wonderful update for the tools that we use every day. I feel rusty and simply need to update myself; the tutorials and textbooks would be perfect to get back on the road again with my career after sacrificing my time and talents for others.
I bought it to try my hand at website design. I enjoyed using it so much, I’m starting my own business. Now I have to learn the “rest of the iceberg,” since I’ve hardly learned the tip so far. Pick me! Pick me! :-)
