  1. It’s a multi-screen world with your audience accessing content from various devices. InDesign now helps you create multiple versions (not multiple layouts) of your layout to adapt it to different screen sizes AND all this, from a single InDesign file. With all new Liquid Layout, forget spending time on fitting your content into different sizes based on orientation. See these new features in action ->

  2. i only get this if i want to download a file

    Access Denied
You don’t have permission to access “https://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/FLBR/4_5/win32/FlashBuilder_4_5_LS10.exe?” on this server.

    • Hey there Mitch, the downloads are all the same actually – it’s just the serial number is different for each class of product (retail vs. education vs. volume, etc).

In other words, these should work with your valid CS5.5 Student & Teacher product license key. When you enter your serial number, it will activate the correct software version.

  3. I tried to do this but it keeps showing access denied. I also did it yesterday on IE and I clicked ‘save target as’ and it seemed to work. but when I tried to install it, it said that I had to use a program to open this file. I tried all the programs and it didn’t work.

  4. I followed your directions and downloaded everything without a hitch. You were right. Having or creating an account, staying logged in and kind of leisurely browsing the product list, then starting a trial download definitely makes them fall asleep at the front door of the castle.

I let the trial download go for a couple minutes, using firefox, and then paused it. After that, it was like it didn’t matter if I right clicked and did “save as” or just went all sloppy and clicked everything twice…everything started flowing into my computer. I have had the CS5.5 Master Collection ever since it came out. I do a lot of wordpress websites and love working with video too, so primarily I work with photoshop, fireworks, dreamweaver, aftereffects, flash professional, and premiere pro.

I began to favor Sony Vegas though because of all the missing stuff on premiere, the titling templates, but even without that, Sony is better as your main editor. It’s better because 80 per cent of editing is tedious and Sony helps get that done fast. When you need good effects and have to “fix” things that happened in production, Premiere Pro and AE are better.

Thanks a lot for this tip. I like CS5.5, and this fills in gaps. Adobe has made it harder to get CS6, so I’m getting a trial version here and there just waiting….

    • Thanks for your thoughts Doug, glad to help… Curious though why you’re downloading these trials if you already own CS5.5 Master Collection, and what you mean by, “Adobe has made it harder to get CS6”?

  5. Hey there.
Due to school I need to use CS5.5 instead of CS6 and the adobe website currently only has the CS6 available for download. I tried downloading from this link you kindly provided here but it keeps saying that I do not have the permission to download it. I have followed the steps by creating an adobe account and logging in with remember me on. I downloaded the photoshop you included in the link although the link directed me to the CS6 version of it, then I installed the adobe installer and the CS6 photoshop started downloading. I then proceeded to pause it and right click on the link to the CS5.5 Master Collection and chose “download linked file as”. But it still says access denied.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I’m using mac OS Lion by the way.

  6. I downloaded MasterCollection_CS5_5_LS1 and _LS1.7z per your site’s great assistance and help. I do have an Adobe ID, and everything worked fine. I extracted both via WinZip 7.

How the heck do I now install the Master Collection for trial evaluation? I don’t know how to start the setup process on these files, once I have them on my hard drive…

Thanks for any help you can give me. I did just subscribe to your site, as you were great in helping me once in the past. Thanks!!!

    • Hi Dennis, glad we could help and thank you for your kind words. This should hopefully answer your question:

Normally there are two files – an .exe and a .7z. If you don’t have an .exe file, then as mentioned in the article it’s possible that your browser lost the extension when downloading. If so, then just add the .exe extension back manually by renaming that file.

So normally you don’t ever need to touch the .7z file, nor run WinZip to install the software. Just download both files above for your product, make sure they’re in the same folder, and double-click the .exe.

When you run the .exe, it extracts all the bundled files into a new folder, and you then have to install the software from there.

So look for an Adobe directory typically on your Desktop (or perhaps in My Documents or Downloads)… there should be ReadMe and Setup.exe files within that directory.

Just read the ReadMe file and/or run the Setup file and you should be set – that will install the Adobe trial onto your system.

      Hope this helps!

    • Welcome Nathan, there are no passwords… And you don’t need WinRar or any external utility.

Just download both files for the trial you want (most have an .exe and a .7z) and run the .exe file, and then follow the instructions.

  7. I got the link to download but it completes in about 3 seconds and then I get an error “the file archive part of Adobe cs5.5 master collection is missing. you need all parts in the same folder in order to extract adobe cs5.5 master collection. please download all arts.

  8. Thanks for the link you sent. I do have a free account with Adobe and I have been able to previously download files from your page before. However, when I click on the Captivate 5.5 link I get the following error:

You don’t have permission to access “…/AdobeProducts/CPTV/5_5/win32/Captivate_5_5_WWEFDJ.exe” on this server.

    • Hello Jesper, that’s for the Windows English version. The size will vary depending on language set, or platform. The European version is larger because of all the different languages there rolled into one.

  9. The access denied error happens regardless, and all instructions were followed carefully (there’s not too much to it, let’s be honest). The denied error is on Adobe’s site. They may require a referer field (intentionally misspelled with only one “r”), or something else, or they’ve simply disabled access to their older versions for download. Probably because they can force you to buy a recovery CD/DVD for $20 (which does allow for download as an option). The problem I have, is I have a valid serial for the older version and CS6 still has too many bugs. I simply wanted to download the 5 or 5.5 trial and enter a legal serial and they refuse to give a link for download unless you pay. That’s sleazy in my opinion, considering they had them up downloadable for trial versions. You lose your disc, you better plan to pay! They yanked the 5.5 downloads as soon as CS6 came out, and removed any ability to download older versions. No offense, but the download links on this blog simply do not work and won’t work regardless of signing into an Adobe account, following the (current) links, or using a different browser. Have done those things in spite of knowing it was unlikely to help. So, there’s either a mystery referer field (the page you had to have come from for the download link), or they just removed the ability to download any pre-CS6 without paying. I wish I could find a clean/safe source to download CS5 or CS5.5 that’s not from a crack site, just to enter my freaking serial (legal) to activate it. I’m really unhappy with Adobe at this point.

  10. I should clarify, this issue is when trying to download the CS5 or 5.5 master collection suite. Premiere, Photoshop both links worked for the downloads from what I could tell, but the MS is disabled for access.,

  11. SOLVED!…. update; I’ve literally changed nothing at all, and just trying again, for the 13th time, literally, over some hours now, the links for the master collection for both 5 and 5.5 are working without the deny error. Apparently, this is some intermittent/sporadic bug with Adobe’s site, as I literally did nothing whatsoever before trying one last time, after a few hours of trying. No other activity by me.

Actually, I’ve just thought about it/the solution: I DID do one thing; started the trial download for CS6 master collection via the Adobe Download Assistant. I’m positive this created some type of auth/session for access to those links. Please keep this in mind, as that had to be why it began working (and it makes sense it would, or could). I hope this helps other people. I’m glad to avoid the time and money by paying for a copy of software I already had that needed a fix/reinstall.

    • Yes Tim, all the links continue to work, although occasionally some visitors do get the ‘denied’ issue…

As mentioned in Step 1 of the article’s instructions above, it is critical to go through the process of beginning a current CS6 trial download from Adobe’s site. That will set the proper session cookie on your system to allow access to all the other direct downloads – including these prior versions.

Finally, in the list of tips frequently linked for previous commenters, we suggest just waiting a while if you have difficulty – because often the issue resolves on its own with a bit of time.

Glad you got it sorted out.

  12. I could have sworn I had read over pages and pages and went down through the links of other pages and so on, to ensure I didn’t miss any tips, yet I somehow missed starting the newest trial download first. That was definitely the key. Thanks so much!

  13. Hi again, thanks for your previous help. I have another problem now.

I had CS4 on my PC, and on one laptop. So that used up my license allowance.

I have now installed CS5.1 on the PC, and deactivated and removed the serial number from the CS4 on the pc. CS4 is still on the laptop.

Now I have a netbook as well, and I want to put CS4 on that. This would still make two machines with CS4, so it should be ok.

However, having copied the CS4 disc onto a Flash-drive, when I try to install it (CS4) onto the netbook (Win7 Home Premium 64bit), before it installs it asks for the serial number, and then rejects it. (I have tried re-activating CS4 on the PC and that accepts the serial number fine – I didn’t reactivate, I just cancelled the reactivation). So I am stumped… No idea why the software won’t accept the serial number. Please help. Thanks.

  14. I am at my wits’ end. I downloaded without an issue but then I could not open the files. So, I changed the file extensions and managed to get one file to open. That file is a read only file about the program. When I attempt to open the other it says I am missing an archived file but I downloaded both files. When I go back to attempt to download the file again, I get access denied – Please help!!

    • Hi Vicky, just hover your mouse over the two files you downloaded to see their names and file extensions. Then make sure what you have on your disk matches what you see in your browser. For Windows, the small file is an .exe and the large one has a .7z extension.

Then make sure they’re both in the same folder on your disk and double-click the .exe file to run it and start the installation procedure.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I started again and copied the CS4 CD to an external drive, rather than the flashdrive, and used a different CD player as the one I used first was making clicking noises. Then I connected the external drive to the Netbook, and wow…. it worked, accepted the license number no problem, so I’m up and running now. The first attempt must have become corrupted in copying.Thanks.

I appreciate your response. The .exe file is now the read-only file that has English and a dozen other files in various languages. What happened here? So the only file in the original form as downloaded is the z file.

    • Sorry Vicky – which product is it you’re trying to get? Usually there are only two files – a small “.exe” file, and a large “.7z” file (not “z” as you wrote). Apologies for any confusion.

  17. When I try installing CS production premium the installer gets stuck at 52% and an error message pops up and says:

A problem occurred while extracting the archive. Please try downloading the Adobe CS5.5 Production Premium.

I have tried the process three times with no luck.

    • It’s no problem CarolAnn – if you bought it a few months ago then you probably have Photoshop CS5.1. So just download the free Photoshop trial above here for the CS5.1 version, or on our CS5 direct links page if you have the CS5.0 version… All these original trial versions are coming direct from Adobe’s servers.

Next, install the software on your new laptop, and then enter your valid purchased serial number to activate the program and convert it into a permanent version.

If you have any difficulties, just post back – but hopefully that should solve it for you!
