Hi,
I am please to visit your website, very informative.
I am a computer networking student, started to learn Webdesign on my own for knowledge and want to go freelancer if everything goes well.
I have done some joomla web design before.
Very much interested with Adobe products and very impressed by the work you are doing by helping others with their queries.
I am very much confused with all the Adobe products.
Could you please give me some idea what I can purchase for web design.
I have heard about Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
Is their any complete package which includes all or most useful products?
I am looking for the student versions.
Many thanks in advance.
Welcome Rabi, here is an article you might find useful on how to get the 80%-off discounts with the Adobe Student Editions.
And yes, definitely there are packages that include both Photoshop and Dreamweaver bundled and integrated together – see the CS6 Suite List.
Probably CS6 Design & Web Premium would work best for your needs, which for students the price is much reduced, just US$449. It includes seven major applications – those two plus Flash Pro, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Fireworks, and InDesign.
Hope this helps! If you have further questions, just post back.
Hello,
I am very interested in the student and teacher version of Photoshop, but I live with my parents and my computer is owned by my parents as well. Am I still eligible for this product?
Hi Jacqueline, thanks for your question. Please see this earlier exchange with James for the answer.
Thanks!
Hi,
Did Adobe reduce the number of attendees on ConnectNow (free version)?
Hi, the number of participants varies depending on which plan you have:
How Many People Can Attend My ConnectNow Meeting?
@ProDesignTools Many Thanks!
I need to know which Adobe product I need to buy that will allow me to vectorize all types of file formats.
In the application I need, I have to be able to take, say a jpeg image, import the pic or image into this Adobe product, and be able to manipulate this raster image into a high resolution vector image which when printed off onto paper will be VERY clean. Even most “vector” images I find out there from clipart stores, when enlarged for my purpose, become too jagged and I need an Adobe software product to clean the image up. This newly vectorized image can have no jagged lines or edges – just clean outlines of a black and white image from this raster image I imported. I use these clean, sharp vector images for use in a film developing process to create stencil designs which I use to sandblast glass and crystal. To emphasize the neccessity to take drawings, photos, clipart, or other images to this highly vectorized state, there is a saying in the sandblasting art industry which says, “ANYTHING you want to carve into the surface STARTS with the proper ARTWORK”.
I cannot create a film positive which can be used to create a photo resist stencil from a “fuzzy” image.
So if someone can tell me which Adobe product will perform this function, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks.
Hey there Stan, you want Adobe Illustrator CS6 – which in fact has just vastly improved its Image Trace function for turning raster images into vector designs, and it really works quite well.
You can download a free trial to see that it does what you want.
I have bought Photoshop Teacher and Student Edition. I sent Adobe my proof of eligibility by email and scanned my report-card and transcript yesterday, and I am waiting for a reply. Do I still need to show them my Student ID card or was that enough?
No, you should be good Jacqueline. You only need to provide one form of proof, but it takes a day or two for them to validate your status and provide the permanent serial number.
So you shouldn’t need to do anything else but in the meantime, you can download and run the free CS6 trial for your product to get started immediately.
how old does your child have to be to be eligible?? & what if they dont have a credit card to purchase?
Great questions Brandy. In fact, even students and teachers down the primary school level can qualify for Adobe’s academic discounts… The educational user just has to meet the basic eligibility requirements.
For the other answers, please see this previous series of 4 questions and responses, and that should help – thanks!
Hi ProDesign… You helped me in the past with a question about CS6 being installed on 2 machines (a desktop and laptop)… And then I asked if I can do it on one PC Desktop and a Mac Laptop (which I’m getting in the future probably). The link you provided sounds like I’d have to get special licensing which is more money…
Now, my new question is what if I’ve got the CS6 student/teacher version already on my 2 PC’s… but later I upgrade my PC laptop and get a MacBook Pro but partition the drive and install Windows 7 via Boot Camp. Can I transfer my CS6 and run it on a Mac that boots up in Windows 7?
Welcome back Brian, good to see you again. To get Adobe’s multi-platform licensing doesn’t cost any more money than regular, but you just have to choose that option when you buy CS6…
If you already own the product, and it’s too late to return/exchange and choose the other, then it’s trickier.
You can conceivably manage a multi-boot or virtualization environment on a Mac in order to run Windows programs, but there can be additional maintenance, cost, or performance factors in doing so. Also keep in mind that such installation would also count towards the two copies you can run.
Hi… can I use adobe illustrator and photoshop cs6 trial versions for commercial use? Thanks.
Actually Atiq, per the terms of Adobe’s licensing agreement, it is not permitted to use the trial versions for commercial purposes – they are for evaluation usage only.
Ok…1 more question. If i make an e-book i.e. a photoshop tutorial and sell it – and i’m using a trial version to show that tutorial, is it permitted to use that trial? Thanks.
Well, that does seem more of a gray area, so you would probably need to contact Adobe for a definitive answer…
BTW, here is a set of free ebooks for CS6 if you want to see what has already been done in that regard.
hi, i don’t have any of the programs but i want to buy one. i am a beginner, would it be ok if i buy cs6 as my first or should i start with another version?
Hi Claudia, we definitely recommend CS6 over any older version – it’s very difficult to find safe and legitimate copies of prior releases (especially the Student Editions), because Adobe doesn’t make or sell them anymore… Besides, Creative Suite 6 is the latest and greatest with the most features, most up-to-date standards, and best performance.
If you’re a beginner, you will also find plenty of new and current material that’s helpful for learning CS6. Here are a couple of excellent places to start:

Hi, thanx for all the information on this site!
It helped me to change the Standard Adobe CS5 to the Teacher version where I have the rights to.
They did not tell me of my rights!! Now everything is arranged and switched, they ask 199€ administration, transport and reinstallation costs. Is that a normal price???
I don’t get any answer from the distributor so I want to know if he is correctly handling my case!
Still after 4 months they didn’t pay back the difference of 1392,71€!!
All the information was available here and I have to explain everything by myself to them?!
I even made a copy of the information to them!! Crazy because it’s their job to know everything about the software products they are selling!! The even don’t take a minute to read my mail about the rules for a Teacher version, which I am!! I hope that I can get the information about those administration costs to be shored, so they don’t keep it for themselves!!
Thanks a lot already for earlier support!
Greetings, Goedele
Hello again Goedele, good to see you but sorry to hear that things are not going smoothly with your purchase… What is the name of your distributor? That does not sound right to us at all – we have never, ever heard of such charges: “199€ for administration, transport and reinstallation costs”??
No, it is definitely not normal.
You appear to be in Western Europe, so don’t you buy directly from Adobe instead? You don’t need any distributor or reseller to buy Adobe software online in your country, even the Student & Teacher Editions. And Adobe will not delay a refund, nor make up some strange and costly charges that do not seem to belong.
Our advice now would be to contact Adobe directly and explain the situation and ask them about the reseller you are dealing with. Adobe should be able to help and look up your distributor, and could even revoke their selling authorization if it turns out they are breaking the law.
Really hope you can get it sorted out – good luck!
@ ProDesignTools
thank you
in your opinion what version should i get?
i see there is Photoshop CS6, CS6 Extended, Illustrator CS6, InDesign CS6, Acrobat X Pro, Dreamweaver CS6, Fireworks CS6, Flash Professional CS6, Flash Builder 4.6 Prem, Premiere Pro CS6, After Effects CS6, Audition CS6, SpeedGrade CS6, Prelude CS6, Encore CS6.
is there a big difference between all of them?
Yes, there is a big difference Claudia – each tool does something different. Photoshop works on images & photos, Acrobat creates PDF files, Dreamweaver builds websites, Premiere Pro edits video, Audition is for audio, Illustrator draws vector artwork, etc. So it really depends on what you want to do.
For the education editions, students usually get a suite because it’s the best value – you get a nice discount on multiple programs bundled together that work well as an integrated package. Our advice would be to figure out what you will want/need to do with your software, and then use the CS6 Product Selector to choose which suite or tool you want.
Just graduated college May, 2012. Would I still qualify for purchase of student addition since qualification of “current” is within 6 months. Thanks.
Hey there Rae, per the program terms it sounds to us like you could/should still be eligible for the student edition – but you may want to double-check with Adobe to be sure (online live chat usually works best/fastest).
Congratulations BTW!
Hi, I am an art student in college and I want to purchase Photoshop to help me create art and alter my photographs. I have not used Photoshop very much before and am not sure which version of Photoshop to buy or whether to buy the student/teacher versions. Do you have any suggestions?
Also I do not understand the questions I keep seeing about which Photoshop program to buy if one wants to sell the products they make on Photoshop. If I make an image on any Photoshop program it’s my image to do what I want with and sell to whoever I wish, right?
Those are great questions Bree. There is some confusion over whether you can use the student editions for commercial purposes and sell the work you create with them, etc. The answer is you can now (with CS6), there is no restriction. This limitation used to exist in some geographies before CS5 came out, but no longer.
As for which version, some people wonder this question:
What’s the Difference In the Different Versions of Adobe Photoshop?
But in our opinion, if you’re a student, you should always buy the Photoshop CS6 Extended Student & Teacher Edition (the top of the line product) because you get a huge discount of 75% off the regular price.
Educational customers don’t get any price break on the PS Standard edition, and the only other option is Photoshop Elements, which you only get a 20% reduction on.
So we’d say go with either the aforementioned, or a full CS6 suite with multiple products, which will still run you less than $500 all told, and a fraction of the normal cost.
Hope this helps!
hello
My question is my son has to reinstall his student teacher edition. He started with cs-4 then upgraded to cs-5. Now that he is reinstalling can he just install cs-5 or does the cs-5 student/teacher edition work off of some of the components of cs-4? thanks
Good question Catherine – and the answer is that whenever you upgrade to new Adobe products, you can install your upgrade onto a fresh computer without requiring the older version to also be installed. The versions don’t depend on each other on your system, however in this case you would have to manually enter the serial number of the older product when installing the newer one.

How to Move or Upgrade Adobe Software from One Computer to Another
This has now gotten confusing. When I bought CS5 I bought the REG full version using my student discount NOT the student/teacher edition. Can this still be done?
Doing it this way allows me to take advantage of the upgrade pricing of the REG versions, and I DID NOT have to re-verify to get the serial number which I had to do when I got Lightroom 4 which came with my new computer and wasn’t even supposed to be the student teacher version. I paid FULL price for the software and got that version instead. I was very disappointed in as I did NOT want the student / teacher edition.
So I wish to make sure that option is still available to simply buy a FULL version using my educational status without having to buy the Student / Teacher version.
Greetings Jane, Adobe has significantly simplified their choices in this regard – as in the past it was considered too confusing… So as far as we are aware, the only way for education customers to get a discount now on Creative Suite 6 and other software is to buy the Student & Teacher Editions.
However, as pointed out in the article above, this should not be a big limitation for you as these student editions are fully upgradeable to the commercial versions via regular upgrade pricing, which is what you said you wanted – and there is no further eligibility verification required to do that.
Is that clearer?
Hi, I was wondering which photoshop I should use. I started photography a couple months and would love to use adobe photoshop products, but am a little confused.
What is the difference between the regular adobe photoshop cs5 compared to the adobe photoshop cs5 student and teacher edition??? Do they have the same items??? Are there limitations on how long I can use the student and teacher edition???
If I plan to upgrade my adobe, do I need to purchase the student and teacher edition or can I purchase the regular adobe photoshop products?
Well Jarlyn, every single one of those answers is given in the complete article just above – did you read through it all?
Have another look and then if you still have further questions, feel free to post back – thanks!
Hi!
I am a graphic designer and have been using CS3 for sometime now. I want to upgrade my version to CS6 ASAP.
Please let me know the difference between the student version and the professional version. Your response will be highly appreciated.
Hi Rachael, all of the differences between the Adobe student editions vs. the professional versions are described in detail in the article above… If you have further or specific questions that aren’t answered there, please let us know.
Thank you. Response appreciated.
Hi, I just wanted to explain this situation.
I love graphic design! I live in the USA, but the softwares of Adobe are really so far from my budget.
I got a friend of mine who studies at college but he is not into the graphic design thing.
Would it be ok if he could buy a student version for me? I mean I would just use it for educating myself, no commercial purposes. What would u say, please?
Thanks
Hello Agatha – it’s not up to us, as Adobe sets the rules for their software and its usage… The education editions are nontransferable, that much is clear. But you may be able to qualify yourself for the discounted pricing if you were to take a local class, which could pay for itself.
Hi. I have 2 teenagers for whom I want to buy Photoshop (they do photo editing for fun). Would it be better for me to purchase Photoshop CS6 student & teacher edition or Elements 10? I don’t want to overspend but I also don’t want the kids to grow out of the program. Thanks.
That’s a great idea Sonya and will give them some strong technical tools for their future paths… Hopefully this article will help you decide:
Which Photoshop Is Right For Me? Photoshop vs. Lightroom vs. Elements
Another important point to keep in mind is Adobe gives much greater discounts on the Photoshop CS6 student edition as compared to Elements 10. The CS6 student version is 75% off the regular price, whereas the Elements student version is only 20% off. So after the discounting is taken into account, there is much less difference in price between the two products.
Hope this helps!
Hi.
I was wondering, if I buy the student / teacher edition CS6 Web Premium now while in school, after I graduate and if I decide to upgrade to a commercial (full retail) version in a few years, will it require me to provide my school information a second time? For hypothetical reasoning, by this time of upgrade I could have been out of school for years and no longer have this information available (and even if I did, it would be GREATLY outdated)…
I would think the school information would only be needed for the S/T Edition to acquire the initial serial number? And when I upgrade I should only need the initial serial number to complete the activation of my new suite (be it CS7, CS8, CS9, etc..)?
Great question Derek, and you’re absolutely right – once you purchase and own the student versions, there is never any need to revalidate your status… The software is yours, permanently – and can be upgraded to a future commercial/retail version just like you suggested. Thanks for highlighting that!
Note the other restrictions mentioned would still apply throughout ownership and after validation – notably the education software is usable only by the eligible buyer, cannot be given away or sold, and can run only on your privately-owned computer.
Yes, I assumed the other restrictions would still apply since it is the S/T Edition and I will be agreeing to those terms when I purchase.
Thanks for the info!
