@ProDesignTools
Thank you for clarifying this for me.
My laptop hard drive crashed, I lost everything, including my recently purchased Photoshop Elements!
I have no idea how to reinstall this program onto my new hard drive. Please help ASAP.
Thank you,
Elizabeth
Hello Elizabeth, sorry to hear about your computer – but for Adobe, there should be no problem… You can redownload and reinstall the program using the Photoshop Elements Direct Download Links – just follow the instructions there.
That will be a free trial version, but you can activate it permanently with your purchased serial number… If you no longer have access to your serial key, check your online Adobe account.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for responding. How do I find this Adobe online account? I’m so bummed that I lost everything…uggh
Yes, it’s so aggravating when that kind of thing happens… But if you downloaded your program from Adobe, then your account can be accessed here.
If you have a physical box instead, well then your serial number and discs are already there. :)
Good luck!
I was using photoshop elements 8. My computer motherboard failed. I was told photoshop could not be transferred with recovered data. If I purchase elements 11, will my catalogs be recovered? Will I be able to recover files stored with photoshop?
Hi John, sorry to hear about your computer. Normally Elements will automatically import and convert older versions of previous Elements catalogs. So if you can recover Photoshop Elements 8’s catalog off your previous system, then Elements 11 should be able to read and transfer it.
Hello, I’m using Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo with Mac OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. When I try to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 I receive this error message: “Some errors occurred during installation. Adobe Elements 11 can be installed on 64-bit systems only.” Here is the question: is Photoshop Elements 11 compatible with my computer and operating system? I guess my computer running in 32-bit. Why do I receive that error message when I try to instal the Trial version of the software? The review above says that Photoshop Elements 11 is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Please explain. Thank you.
Hey Giambattista, not sure what’s going on there as Photoshop Elements is definitely not a 64-bit-native application – in fact it runs in 32-bit Compatibility Mode on 64-bit systems… So there’s something else at play here.
In the article above, we also say to check the complete minimum system requirements for the product – does your computer meet all other specifications? In particular, does your Mac have a multicore Intel processor?
(Note that Premiere Elements does now come with two flavors – both 32-bit and 64-bit native versions to choose from… But Photoshop Elements remains a 32-bit application.)
@Giambattista
Update – It looks like you asked the same question on the Adobe Forums and they have confirmed it there for you…
So as we thought, it doesn’t really have to do with requiring 64-bit vs. 32-bit architecture, despite the odd message.
I have an Apple Mac desktop and a PC Windows laptop, both with Photoshop Elements 11 – can I transfer photos from one computer to another?
Welcome Darrell, thanks for your question. If you have Photoshop Elements installed on multiple systems, then you can definitely copy or move photographs yourself from one machine to another. But the two computers will not automatically stay in sync, if that’s what you’re asking.
It is possible to migrate or transfer your Elements catalog from one operating system to another, or from an older version of PSE to a newer release.
I am new to the photo-editing world but I recently found out about “the magnetic lasso” tool and must have it. Does Photoshop Elements 11 feature this tool?
Thank you.
Yes it does Kristy, see:

Can you convert from RGB to CMYK?
Hello Liz, that’s a good question but Photoshop Elements does not handle the CMYK color model – for that you need Photoshop CS… Read more about the differences here:

I just upgraded from PRE / PSE 10 to version 11. I noticed that there doesn’t appear to be any bonus content discs. I just have a couple of questions:
1. Since I’ve completely uninstalled Version 10 and installed version 11 am I missing out on any additional content from the bonus disc?
2. Can I re-install the Elements 10 Content disc on top of my Version 11 with no repercussions?
Thanks very much for your help.
Regards.
Hi Sean, as far as we’re aware Adobe did not issue new Bonus Content for Premiere Elements 11 – but the Additional Content for PRE 10 (including InstantMovie themes, title templates, DVD/Blu-ray menu templates, and music to enhance movies you create) should continue to work with version 11.
I used Photoshop in the CS6 trial version to extract parts of a photo and import them into another picture. First, does Photoshop Elements allow the extraction of photos and then the importing of them into other photos? Second, if so, I saved the cut-out photos – will I be able to access them with Photoshop Elements and import them into other photos?
Thank you for helping; I look forward to your response.
Ed
Greetings Edward, see the response above to Liz for some of the key differences between Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements…
But yes, with Photoshop Elements you can cut out, extract, move, and composite images similarly in many ways to the full Photoshop.
See here for Photoshop Elements’ supported file formats – in theory you should be able to read Photoshop CS6 .PSD files (especially if they were saved with Maximize Compatibility turned on), but regardless you may lose some CS-only features that were stored within the file.
Can you tell me the difference between Photoshop CS6, Lightroom 4, and Photoshop Elements? What are the pros and cons of each? I’m not sure which one to buy.
Great question Angela! We wrote a complete article on the subject, for people just like you:
What’s the Difference Between Photoshop vs. Lightroom vs. Elements?
I am purchasing a Vector image to use for a church anniversary sign. I want to change the colors and need to purchase software to do this. I have never used any software like this or done anything like this. Would Photoshop Elements 11 be the correct software for this?
Hey there Mona, we’d be happy to help – but would need a little more detail first on what you want to do… When you say, “purchasing a Vector image to use for a sign,” what file format will the design be in?
Typically vector-based artwork is more the domain of Adobe Illustrator rather than Adobe Photoshop… Photoshop is centrally for raster/pixel-based images.
I am changing to a new computer with Windows 8. Am currently using Photoshop CS3 and would like to change to Photoshop Elements with my new computer as I do not use all that CS3 offers. Would my current files merge with Elements if I make such a change?
Hello Giles, it’s possible that you could open your older Photoshop CS3 files in Photoshop Elements 11, but you would certainly lose any features within the .PSD files that were supported in Photoshop CS but not in Elements…
Some examples of this would be CMYK or 16bit images, which would be converted to Elements’ RGB or 8bit. And generally, any CS-only functionality that was saved within the PSD file would also not transfer (be ignored).
Our advice is always that nothing beats a test drive… So if you’d like to see how any new Adobe software will work within your current environment or with your existing images, just download a free trial and see how it goes.
I bought a new computer and it came with Windows 8. Will Photoshop Elements 11 let me print 8×12 photos on 11×14 paper with a Epson stylus 1400 printer ?
Don’t see why not Duane… You can definitely print 8×10 photos in PSE 11 on whatever printer is connected to your system. The most certain thing for you would be to just get the free Elements tryout and see for yourself to make sure, and get started.
Will I be able to merge multiple pictures into one with the new Elements 11?
Thank you
Yes, definitely Joan – see these free learning resources to learn more about how to use it:

Does PSE 11 or Premiere use the warp tool?
Welcome Cara, thanks for your question. No, Photoshop Elements does not have the Warp Tool – only big-brother Photoshop CS6 or CC has that… See:
What’s the Difference Between Photoshop CS vs. Photoshop Elements?
Hi,
Can I easily create layer masks in 11? Does it support CMYK color profiles? Can I use presets easily?
Thank you
Hi Carol,
You can definitely use Presets in Photoshop Elements, and it also does now also support Layer Masks.
However, CMYK color is not supported in Elements – it’s one of the major distinctions between Photoshop CS6/CC vs. Elements.
Hope that answers your questions – if not then just post back!
We have two desktops and one laptop. I notice that Elements can be loaded on up to 2 computers, but we’d like to load it on our 3; how do we get permission or where do we pay so that we can do that?
Well actually Howard, you just have to buy another copy… there’s really no other way than that if you want to be able to run it on 3 systems.
(Each license allows 2 activations maximum – and while you can move the software between machines, there’s no option to purchase just 1 additional activation.)
Will the Camera Raw Engine in Elements 11 process raw images from a Canon EOS Rebel SL 1 DSLR camera?
Hey Bill, you can find all the supported cameras listed here for the latest version of Camera Raw.
Note there are some differences in Camera Raw between Elements compared to the full Photoshop – the version of ACR in Elements is much-scaled-down, but should still support the same cameras.
@ProDesignTools
well, that makes things difficult….
Looking to buy Elements 11, but: What is the difference between “Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 11” and “Adobe Photoshop Elements 11” ? Thanks!
Greetings Melitta, the answer is that the first one is a bundle that includes both Photoshop Elements (for photos) and Premiere Elements (for videos) – whereas the second one is just Photoshop Elements by itself.
Trying to run PSE 10 on new Windows 7 64-bit. Program will load & run one time, the 2nd time it will load partway, then comes up with a problem and shuts down. Have tried about everything with no success. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh, I installed Premiere Elements 10 64-bit trial version and it works fine.
Lou
Greetings Lou, what exactly is the problem or error message that it gives you?
Usually if you google the exact text of that, then you’ll get the answer.
The download link takes you right back to the Adobe Download Assistant. This is not a direct link to the download.
Please Steve, you’ve got to read and carefully follow the instructions given above before clicking on the links, or that’s exactly what will happen instead of starting the download.
I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 & Adobe Premiere Elements 11 last year. My computer HDD went bad on me and is no good. Purchasing a new PC netted me a laptop with no DVD or CD-ROM drive. How do I download the program and utilize my serial numbers for the programs?
Thank you for your help.
Regards,
James
Sure James, here you go – just make sure to carefully follow the download instructions on this direct links page.
I cannot re-load elements 11. It was lost in recovering my computer after a crash. After I download I get the message ‘invalid serial number’. I have asked the community and followed all suggestions to the letter (different browser, turn off all firewalls and anti-virus) but still the same problem. I have now been without this program – for which I paid – for several weeks. Can you help?
Sorry Rod, so long as you were able to successfully download from our page, there’s nothing more we can do…
