Hi, I am looking to download Photoshop. I do not know which one to choose. I am a beginner looking to learn Photoshop for a job (Creative Design Trend; fashion). I also want to use it to enhance my portfolio. Can you please guide me to the right one.
Thank you.
Sure Kathleen, this comparison article should help clarify the differences between the available editions of Adobe Photoshop:
What’s the Difference Between Photoshop CS vs. Lightroom vs. Elements?
It sounds like Photoshop Elements 11 right here could be a decent place to start… it’s easy enough to download the free trial version and see how you make out.
To get started learning and using the software, check out these three hours of free tutorials.
Hope this helps!
I am going to purchase the Adobe Premiere Elements 11 but I was also wondering if I can get a printed users manual with it. I prefer to read how to use programs than to watch tutorials.
Good question John, but it would be extremely rare to find a software manufacturer that still includes printed manuals these days – however all of the official new documentation is available online for Photoshop and Premiere Elements 11.
Your other option if you want something in print would be to buy a good Elements 11 book from Amazon.com… Most of those are for PSE 11 but there are also new books for PRE 11.
Please I want to download it
No problem Prince – see:
Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 11 Direct Download Links
What is the price?
Hi LC, the prices for Elements 11 are given at the top of the article, or here at Adobe’s website.
Hi :) – am looking for a very basic photo editing program – the only experience I have is with a very old Adobe PhotoDeluxe program which I loved for the simplicity of it . …. and the variety of editing I could do with it . … especially the ‘clone’ feature . …. I’m looking for something similar – a ‘no frills’, basic program which I can download my photos into directly from my camera or scanner . …. there are so many ‘out there’ . …. can someone make a suggestion for me please.
Sure Diane, actually Adobe designed Photoshop Elements for folks just like you – photo editing and organizing for casual hobbyists – and it is the top-selling program in its class… Your best bet is probably just to download the free trial and it will run on your computer for 30 days fully-functioning so you can see how well it works for your needs.
To get started, check out these free ebooks for Elements 11 and/or three hours of free online video tutorials.
Hope this helps!
I bought this at officemax…however it’s not booting up the disc.
Could I download from here and put in my paid serial numbers for photoshop/premiere elements?
Sure, you can try that James, although if your DVD is not loading then you may want to return or exchange it to place of purchase…
Just to make sure, does your computer meet the minimum system requirements for Elements 11?
As far as I know, yes. 64-bit system, Windows 7, 2Ghz processor, DVD drive.
I put in my disc for my new printer, and the disc DID load.
If I download the full version here, I’ll assume it counts as paid and I’ll be stuck with the disc.
I bought PS4 and had similar results. It’s like my PC blocks Adobe products!
Thanks
Sure James – but these are the free trials, not the full versions – so downloading these won’t cost you or count against anything. Good luck!
How do I send this software back, I can not use it, it was $99.98. Adobe support is no good at all
Hi Andrew, why can’t you use the software – what problem are you having, specifically?

i am using photoshop elements 7 on my computer, and want to upgrade to elements 11. is it easy, and is it also easy to transfer all my old photos from elements 7 to elements 11?
thanking you
Tom
Yes Tom, in fact PSE 11 is widely considered to be easier to learn and use than earlier versions have been. See all the differences between Photoshop Elements 11 vs. older releases.
We’ve also got some links to free Elements 11 e-books to help get you started on the right foot, or you can learn from three hours of free video tutorials.
As for your current photo collection, yes – your catalog should convert and transfer up to Photoshop Elements 11 after you upgrade.
Hope that answers all your questions, if not then just post back!
Greetings,
I have some “newbie” questions if I may:
*Can I “upgrade” my old PSE2 program to PSE11 from/to a different computer? I have the original card with serial number.
*How many computers can I put the new program on? (can we use it on both the desktop and the laptop?)
*If I am able to add it to one of our existing PC’s, what if I eventually purchased a new computer and want it on that one? can I add it to a 3rd system?
My next question is more asking for advice: Are laptops a workable/advisable alternative for employing programs like PSE 11? I’m presently using an HP Pavillion dv7 Notebook PC/ 64 bit/ Intel Core Processor and 2.27 GHz/ 6.00 Installed memory.
A little background: My old desktop from 2004, a Sony Vaio/WinXP Home came packaged with PS Elements 2, a program that I came to really know and love and continued to use until early May 2012 when we moved. My husband uses a Sony Vaio desktop running WinXP Pro and I have been using the laptop, an HP Pavillion Win 7 Home Premium (neither has a PS program). Now that we’re settled into a new place and will no longer use the old PC I think it’s (past) time to upgrade to a better Photoshop program.
Thanks so much!
~Suzanne
Welcome Suzanne, thanks for your questions. Yes, you can definitely upgrade to Photoshop Elements 11 and put it on a different computer from your previous version. If the system you are installing to does not have a prior release on it, then the PSE11 installer will ask you to manually enter the serial number from your old PSE2.
For running the program, a laptop should be totally fine so long as it meets Photoshop Elements’ minimum hardware requirements.

I have been using Adobe Photoshop Album Starter 3.2 for about 10 years, primarily for storing and sharing photos. Now, for the first time, I am putting together a PowerPoint presentation, for which I want to use some of my stored photos. But I can’t figure out how to move or copy those photos to a file in my Documents or Photos file, which I seem to need to do to move them into a PowerPoint slide. Do you have any advice on this matter? (I understand that the Album Starter 3.2 has been discontinued.)
I am also considering purchasing Elements 11. If so, will it be easy to move my photos into that program from the 3.2 version? In any case, I plan to try out the free trial and associated embook/video tutorial for Elements 11.
Thanks for whatever help you can give me.
Hey there Wallace, thanks for stopping by. No matter which organization program you use, you should still be able to have some direct access to the photo files stored on your disk somewhere (try doing a Find in Microsoft Windows). But we aren’t familiar with that program as it’s really too far back, so can’t comment specifically. You will definitely be able to find answers more easily with a modern and up-to-date software tool. And yes, your best bet is to just download the Photoshop Elements 11 free trial, install and run that, and see how it addresses the tasks you wish to accomplish.
Normally Elements will automatically import and convert older versions of previous Elements catalogs. Just make sure to make backups of everything beforehand, and you should have no problem with trying it, whatever you decide.
I keep getting invalid serial number while trying to install Elements 11, tried several times after registering the product. What now.
Well, maybe contact Adobe directly? They can usually help with serial number issues, only they really have the power to fix it.
I am wanting to get into HDR. Will this be a good program for that as I already have the Elements 10.
Welcome John, thanks for your query. If you look at the differences between Photoshop Elements 11 vs. 10, there wasn’t anything new added for HDR – but since you’re considering an upgrade and comparing different versions, Photoshop CS6 is fantastic for HDR.
I have a Mac & PC and have Elements 9 on the both of them, if I download Elements 11 will I be able to download to both computers?
Hi Darrell, you should be able to do that – see:
How Many Computers Can You Install and Run Adobe Software On?
Can I delete Elements 9 now that I have Elements 11?
Sure Darrell, for that question please see the footnote in the article above – thanks!
I try to down ADOBE AIR and Elements 11 will not download ?
Well what actually happens, what message do you get? We would need to know more in order to be able to assist… Are you using the Elements 11 Direct Download Links to get the free trials?
I just bought Elements 11 and am trying to install it on my Mac. It requests the serial number and there are six 4 digit spaces (24 numbers). The one on the back of the package and the one on the store receipt has the same 30 characters. What do I do next?
Hi Robert, the serial number is not on the back of the box… See this help page for how to find the serial number for all Adobe software products.
Then just enter that (all characters) when the program asks.
Thanks, finally found a redemption code on a card in the package.
I currently have Photoshop Elements 8 for XP, I am switching to Mac – is there a way to get a Mac version?
Greetings Linda, typically with Elements there are discs in the box with versions for both operating systems – if you have a box. If you bought it via download instead, then you would have to check your online Adobe account to see what was there.
I have two Windows 8 PCs. I installed Photoshop/Premiere Elements v11 on one of the PCs (PC #1). All of my catalog/photos/videos/projects are stored on PC #1. If I install Photoshop/Premiere Elements v11 on the second PC (PC #2) can I safely access the catalog/photos/videos/projects that reside on PC #1 from PC #2? I planned to “Get Photos and Videos” only on PC #1.
If so, on PC #2:
1. Do I set up manage catalogs to point to the catalog on PC #1?
2. Do I set up any watched folders on PC #2?
3. Is it necessary to “Get Photos and Videos” only on PC #1?
4. What are the dos and don’ts for this configuration?
Thanks for your help.
Steve
Hey there Steve, so what you’re saying is that you’d like to share one single Photoshop/Premiere Elements 11 Organizer catalog between two different computers over your home network?
You should be able to do that – see this discussion thread:
How to Share the Same Adobe Elements Catalog Across Systems
Hope that helps!
I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. I can no longer open it. Is it OK to erase it and re-install – or will I lose it because it is a one-time download?
Sorry to hear you can’t open it Max – have you checked for the reason why with the online Adobe Tech Support?
In any event, it’s not a one-time download – you should be able to download and reinstall it as many times as you like, if necessary… Just follow these instructions:
How to Move or Reinstall Adobe Software Between Computers
Generally speaking, you should be able to put the program on up to two of your machines, in total – see:
How Many Systems Can You Run Adobe Products On?
Hope that helps takes care of it, if not then just post back.
I thought I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 but now after installation, I see that I have purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 11. Can someone tell me what to do to get the PSE 11 instead of the PRE 11?
The installation is at the step of “restart your system for the configuration changes made to Adobe Premiere Elements 11 to take effect. Click Yes or No” – should I complete the installation of the product I purchased in error?
No worries Bonnie – whether you opened/installed it or not, you should still be able to return it to Adobe for a full refund within 30 days, and then get the right product instead – just see:
How to Exchange, Return, or Refund Adobe Software Products
I am quite disappointed. I have been a dedicated fan and user of Elements since V3. I bought Elements 9 a few months ago and now here is V11. If I knew it was coming out I would have waited, it is becoming too hard to keep up. Saw a tutorial on V11 and love it but don’t want this to happen again. Don’t know what to do, being retired it is tough to keep up. Just a comment from a loyal customer. Any help out there??? rich
Hi Rich,
Elements 9 was actually released in 2010, and Elements 11 in 2012. Maybe Adobe will someday move to a “calendar year” version numbering, which would make it a bit clearer?
Wish there were more we could for you than to suggest staying tuned to our site, as we will keep you up to date on all of this! (including future/upcoming releases and launch dates)
Sorry about that and good luck with it.
We are retired couple on a limited income. We have two computers and would each like to use Photoshop Elements. I have seen that it can be installed on two computers but they cannot be used simultaneously. If we each want to use Elements, do we need to purchase two separate copies of the software? Is there a family pack at a reduced price? I cannot find one.
Thanks, Judith
Welcome Judith, that’s correct – if you want to use the software on two machines at the same time then you’ll need to purchase two copies… But there is no volume, family or multi-copy discount available, sorry. Your best bet is just to get two of the single-user copies and you’ll be fine.
