Download Lightroom 3 & Elements 8 without the Download Manager
[UPDATE – These still work to download the Elements 8 and Lightroom 3 trials. We also now have the new Elements 11 Direct Download Links, and the same for Lightroom 4!]
We’re seeing some folks reporting problems trying to download the new Lightroom 3 using the Akamai Download Manager, which is enabled by default at Adobe.com… There are several posts on the user forums (e.g., here and here), as well as incoming visitor search queries here like “download link for lightroom 3 without akamai,” “adobe lightroom 3 direct download link,” and “how to download lightroom 3 from adobe without the download manager.”
So to complement our earlier set of direct links for Adobe CS5.5, below are the direct download links for Photoshop Lightroom 3 – they are very straightforward, just one single file for each platform that covers all languages (with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions contained inside for Windows)… Languages offered below include English, French/Français, German/Deutsch, Dutch/Nederlands, Italian/Italiano, Portuguese/Português, and Spanish/Español.
Because we’ve also had requests for links for the Elements product line (Photoshop Elements 8 and Premiere Elements 8), you’ll find those further down as well – including the extra content files for Premiere Elements. All of these links go to the authentic and original files residing on Adobe’s servers, are guaranteed genuine and will not change.

For Elements on Windows (both PSE 8 and PRE 8), each program consists of two downloaded files: an .exe and a 7-Zip file (.7z).
The .exe file will only work (and install) once the .7z file is fully downloaded and resides in the same location. For the Mac, it’s just a single .dmg file for each program.
If you need them, please see the links for other versions of Lightroom or Photoshop/Premiere Elements in the comments below.

Not working
Hello, you just need to follow the “Very Important Instructions” near the top of this page, before you try to download – thanks.
I am wedded to XP because of the lack of drivers for my peripherals with newer Window versions.
If I purchase Lightroom 3, is it still supported by Adobe? Does it have its own editing abilities? or do you need Photoshop Elements.
Thanks for any advice.
Hey there Bill, we don’t recommend buying old versions because Adobe doesn’t sell them any longer, and it’s often problematic and dangerous trying to find them from other sources.
As for what Lightroom does compared to Photoshop or Elements, this guide should help answer those questions:

Hello! I just downloaded the Elements 8 for Mac, and when I try to open the .dmg file it comes up with and error that says “The following disk images couldn’t be opened. Reason: not recognized.” Am I missing something?
Hi Meg, sorry to say a “dmg not recognized” message usually means the download didn’t come through correctly… see this previous comment for more information.
Is the download link for Photoshop Elements 7.0 available?
Yes Umang, you’ll find it here.
Hi:
I must say I have never been more outraged about Adobe discarding older versions of their software. This is highway robbery to me. I paid a lot of money for the Photoshop Elements 8 a couple of years ago. It was not my fault that the program was deleted from my computer. I got a message (after getting on to Photoshop) that I needed to update the Photoshop Elements 8 file, otherwise the program would not work properly. I agreed to update because it also said that after downloading the current updates I would be able to upload Adobe Elements 8 again. It completely removed Photoshop Elements 8 from my system and never gave me the download button. IT JUST ERASED IT FROM MY SYSTEM. I only had the program 2 years and I was happy with it the way it was. I followed the instructions to downoad PSE 8 from this site but I am getting a error message about a mul and I do not have a zip program. Does anyone have a phone number for Adobe’s corporate office or a mailing addess? I feel like I have been robbed because they no longer have a download I can use, and the one on this site does not work for me. My original disk was destroyed when I had a flood caused by Hurricaine Sandy. Fortunately, I write the S/N for all my programs in an Excel file, because of acts of God like Sandy. So I have my S/N but not the disk.
Thank you. Peggy
Sorry you’ve been having difficulties Peggy. We’ve never heard of anything like that, where a program would uninstall itself. Not really sure what happened there, but it’s highly unusual.
But not to worry, your software can be re-downloaded here. Please just carefully follow the instructions at the top of this page and you should be fine. You don’t need to zip or unzip anything yourself at all, just run the .exe file once it’s downloaded together in the same folder with the second file.
Once this free trial software is installed on your computer(s), you should be able to activate it permanently using your valid purchased license key.
If you have any further problems, just post back and we’ll try to help… Better luck to you in the future!

Thanx… you were helpful… :)

Thank you for taking an interest in my Photoshop Elements 8 problem. It will not allow me to download the files. I keep get an error message when I try to download. the message is
HTTP ERROR: 404 /support/downloads/dlm/main.jsp
RequestURI=/support/downloads/dlm/main.jsp
Can you tell me what it means and/or is there any other way to download Photoshop 8
Thank you,
Peggy LEVA
Hey Peggy, there’s no other legal and safe way, sorry… These are the (only) authentic and original free trials resident on Adobe’s servers.
If you’re having any issues when following the instructions, then try it with a different web browser, or on a different computer, or with a different Internet connection (avoid Wi-Fi).
Hi:
In answer to your response to the issues I am having following instruction installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 I would like to say that I tried installing it on a different computer, but, got the same ERROR MESSAGE. I tried a different web browser, and GOT THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. I tried a different internet connection, I got the same ERROR MESSAGE. I am totally frustrated and furious that a big organization such as ADOBE would allow this to happen with a program that is only out for 3 years. This is not fair to the public and hard working people who pay for this very expensive software. You keep saying that it is an easy process to download later versions of the software, but it is anything but that. I am beginning to think that Adobe is making it impossible to download later versions so that the public is forced to purchase the current version for an outrageous amount of money. I would like the name and email address or telephone number of someone in charge at Adobe, such as the managed or anyone higher to discuss this further.
Thank you, Peggy
Sorry Peggy, your difficulties are unusual, and notions of a conspiracy theory are not correct.
The one thing we will say is that sometimes Adobe’s online servers get into a funny state (especially after a failed or aborted download), and you have to wait a bit before trying again… But we assure you that these links work or we wouldn’t be here.
Anyway, feel free to contact Adobe directly about any issues you’re having, in fact one could argue that’s what you maybe should do in the first place.
We’re not them and are really just trying to help you out here – as we do with virtually all our visitors – and just tested out that link ourselves and it works fine on our end.
Good luck.
