Which files are necessary for download for Adobe Photoshop only?
Just the Photoshop ones – first line of the chart, depends on which language you want, and which platform (Win/Mac) you’re on.
Do I need to download any of the Creative Suites for Photoshop?
No – Photoshop CS6 is one of the individual programs contained in a Creative Suite bundle, not the other way around…
If you want other Adobe tools in addition to Photoshop – like Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, etc. – then you’d get a suite.
Photoshop links don’t work. Get access denied error.
Hi John, please make sure you are carefully following the step-by-step download instructions given in the article above (near the top of this page) and you should be fine… otherwise you will get that message.
Then if you still have any difficulties, try a different web browser, another computer, or different Internet connection… Avoid Wi-Fi as it can be slow and/or unreliable; you are better off using a fast wired connection (with a cable).
Lastly, we put together this list of download tips you can go through if you get stuck.
I have a work@home key for adobe design & web premium cs6. How can I download this suite?
Hey Lo, if you have a valid purchased license key for the CS6 software then these free trial downloads should work for you (follow the instructions above) – just enter your serial number after installing the product you have.
Thanks a million for the great instructions and the many links! Even with a business account it can be awfully difficult to find the product and version of any given product through their special licensing portal and this makes it SOOOO much cleaner and easier.
Also, thanks for being so attentive to the commenters here and being so helpful in your responses!
You bet Scott, glad to help – and thanks for your kind words, makes it all worthwhile.
I went to the page to download Adobe Acrobat XI trial, but when I click Download Now, nothing pops up allowing me to download the Adobe Download Assistant. How do I proceed so that I can get the download assistant to set the trials cookie and then download the trial versions of the programs using the links on this page?
Hello Seth, you definitely do not need to download or use the Adobe Download Assistant – one major advantage of these CS6 direct links is you can easily download the offline installers directly in your browser without using the ADA at all…
Just make sure to carefully follow the instructions given above, including cancelling the download or installation of the Adobe Download Assistant if it prompts you (step #3).
Adobe’s proper session cookie will be set on your computer by just following those directions, enabling you to use any/all of the direct links here.
Trying to download the CS6 Design & Web Premium links above leads to this error:
Access Denied
You don’t have permission to access “…/AdobeProducts/DSST/CS6/win32/DesignWebPremium_CS6_LS16.exe” on this server.
Reference #18.5f8f1ab8.1380032733.17f48bd4
Right-clicking and trying to “save as” also does not work.
Welcome Lo, please see our reply just above to John Smith – thanks.
After all the time required downloading I received a message “cannot write file.” Don’t know what this means. Do you?
Perhaps Patty, it sounds like you may have a permissions or space-available issue on your local disk drive where you’re trying to put the file(s).
Hey,
I recently obtained my student version of the CS6 Master Suite and could not find the download anywhere from Adobe’s site, which might I add is kind of frustrating.
I came across your post from another website and would just like to shout out a thanks for putting this list together!
– Dustin
Sure Dustin, you’re very welcome – always happy to hear from happy readers!
Hello…I have downloaded both files for Photoshop CS6,put them together in a folder and it still doesn’t work. It says that I have missing parts?
Greetings Jo, please see these previous comments on why you might be getting that message, and how to solve it.
Thanks, I got the CS6 Master Collection to download, however when I was trying to open the installer I got an error message saying that the “Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem.”
Hey Seth, make sure you’re installing in the Root (Administrator) user account, otherwise it may not have sufficient privileges/permissions.
For more help on that message, see this forum thread:
HELP! I can’t install the CS6 Master Collection Suite
I am stumped even by the first step which says Click HERE and does not take me to a Download Now button. Rather I get to Acrobat XI Pro, which will download, but then what? Why do I need that? What do I do with it? No Adobe sign in occurs as in #2, No windows to close or cancel out occurs as in #3.
No, you don’t need Acrobat XI separately – but you do need to visit that page to set Adobe’s session cookie on your browser to enable the direct download links here. If you don’t do that then you will get an error message when clicking these links.
There is indeed a “Download Now” button at the bottom of that Acrobat trial page. When you click that button it will attempt to download the “Adobe Download Assistant.” Step #3 in the instructions says to cancel that, because you don’t need or use that here.
Once you follow the instructions carefully and complete the steps, you will then be able to click on and download any of the CS6 direct links in the chart above, without the Adobe Download Assistant/Manager.
@ ProDesignTools
It still will not load – and I have been trying since I first posted this – it sends it to a page that is “waiting” to be downloaded.
I even updated my adobe… and added adobe reader XI and it didn’t help.. is there another program I can add that will open this file?
Sorry Susan, really not sure what you mean there. Are you following the download instructions in the article, and if so, what is the exact message that you’re getting?
The download is not working for Photoshop. The first line that everyone’s talking about. I’ve followed all the steps, did not download the ADA, etc. The two files are saved in my Downloads folder. I click on the .exe file, says what everyone else is saying: “The file archive” part is missing, you need all parts in the same folder, etc.
OK, we just tested that exact download (Photoshop CS6 for Windows) and everything works beautifully here – the files download, extract, and install with no problem. Everything is fine with Adobe’s servers.
So there’s something else that you’re running into… Perhaps your download stopped early, or dropped a file extension (.exe or .7z). Maybe you’re using Wi-Fi and the data was corrupted. Possibly you don’t have both files in the same Windows directory when you run the executable. Those are the most likely.
You guys are awesome (: Instructions were so easy to understand too. However it doesn’t pop up to sign in any more. So you might have to sign in manually, and then close the browser tab and try the direct links – it works like a charm :P
I’m trying to download a trial version of InDesign CS6 to my Mac, and I’ve tried directly from Adobe’s site (which shows two files for English, not just one) and here. Files have downloaded instantaneously, which seems… wrong. Here’s what I’ve gotten:
InDesign_8_LS16.dmg
InDesignFamily_8_Content_ALL.dmg
.dmg files are disc images (yes?), and they auto-open to files ending .dmg.part, a few of them with additional numbers at the end (e.g., .dmg.part 13-49-44). But… I can’t open the .part files.
What am I missing? Thanks.
@ Lynn Sfanos
Okay, a quick online search shows me that .part is a Firefox thing. Am now going to try downloading with Safari.
Am now downloading via Safari, which is showing me the progress of the download rather than the dubiously instantaneous Firefox process — much more promising! I may have solved my own problem. :-)
@ Lynn Sfanos
Yeah… it’s installing now. (Got hung up downloading so had to start over, but it worked.) Thanks for, um, letting me talk this out with myself.
Glad to hear you got it sorted out Lynn, and thanks for letting us know… If you’d gotten stuck for a while at any point, we’d have been happy to help.
I joined the Creative Cloud hoping I would be able to pay monthly and complete CS6, Illustrator and 2 other courses I am enrolled in online with Photo Art Studios out of Montreal Canada. Once started I have days to complete each course, test and send results to Adobe for certification. I finished the first course with time running out, but have to practice with the software. Can I purchase CS6 Extended version as a student and if so, will I be blocked from downloading? I am tempted to continue with trials to complete the courses.
Regarding CC, I assumed I would be able to pay $30 a month for full access to the CS6 Suite, am I mistaken?
Yes Kevin, having signed up for the Creative Cloud you can now definitely also download and use CS6 in addition to the newer CC release (which you can download on this page). Both versions will install and run side-by-side on the same computer if you wish, or you can choose one or the other.
In the US, the price of a Cloud membership is $19.99 a month for students and teachers, $29.99 for existing CS customers, and $49.99 for all others. And yes, you get full access to all applications in both releases for that.
Adobe is also continuing to offer last year’s CS6 for purchase, including the traditional CS6 Student & Teacher Editions if you prefer those (and qualify).
I bought the Extended version today, but haven’t attempted to download for fear that I would have wasted $300.
Not 100% sure what you mean by that Kevin – didn’t you just say joined the Creative Cloud?
The Creative Cloud completely includes Photoshop (both CC and CS6) – here are all the apps included in the Cloud.
Once i have downloaded any of the softwares i click on the .dmg file to open them and it says
The following disk images couldn’t be opened: Dreamweaver, not recognised
Sorry Lewis, a “dmg not recognised” message typically means an incomplete or corrupted download… see this previous comment.
You probably got a bad file and would need to try the download again, perhaps using a different web browser, computer, or network connection (no Wi-Fi).
Why is it that the file size of a separately downloaded program is bigger than what it shown during a Master Collection installation? How can Illustrator for example only take 328 MB+326 MB but the single download is 1.8 GB?
It’s a good question. The answer is because much of it is shared libraries and other components like multiple language packs, which are only needed once for an entire suite but must also be included separately for each available standalone application… This requirement grows the size of each point product download, because the customer may only install just one application.
Yes I am…
Once it is “downloaded” my computer will not open it … not sure what I need to do to open the program.
@ ProDesignTools
How did you open the downloads? I am taking the same classes online- and want to get them completed.
@ Kevin
Hey Susan, it sounds like you’re running in the same problem (+ solution) as Jessica above.
