The Adobe MAX 2012 Conference… Will Be Held in 2013!
[UPDATE (Oct. 2017) – Watch 140 hours of new training & tutorials from MAX 2017!]
The big annual MAX conference for all-things-Adobe is traditionally held each fall. The company has just revealed the major story of the MAX 2012 show – and to our surprise it’s… see you next year!
MAX was originally scheduled to be held from October 20-24 in Los Angeles, California. The venue will remain the same, but the date has now changed to May 2013:
The next Adobe MAX is May 4–8, 2013
A lot of exciting changes have happened at Adobe since last year’s MAX. And one of the best places to learn about innovations in the industry and within Adobe will be at Adobe MAX 2013! The conference originally scheduled for October is now moving to May.
Be among the first to know about our plans for this must-attend conference for designers, developers, and business decision-makers:
Why is Adobe doing this? Well, it used to be that Creative Suite was on an 18-month product cycle… CS3 came out in spring 2007, CS4 in fall 2008, CS5 in spring 2010. But now, since CS5.5, Adobe has set a regular spring release schedule – so that every 12 months around April or May we’ll see either a milestone release (like CS6 or CS7), or a midcycle release (like CS6.5 or CS7.5).
So clearly what the company said here is, “Why are we continuing to have our annual conferences every fall, when our major product releases are now every spring? Who wants to wait six months to talk and learn about the new versions of Creative Suite?”
Their only options to align these two cycles were to skip the fall or try to cram two shows in the space of six months.
So the next MAX conference in May 2013 should arrive at about the same time that Creative Suite 6.5 is out… which will make a lot of sense for seeing and learning about the next release as soon as it’s available.
What this means regrettably is there will be no MAX show specifically for Creative Suite 6 that’s now shipping – which doesn’t reflect on its merit considering the great reviews that CS6 is getting and all the new features there are to discover.
So we here at ProDesignTools are really going to miss going to MAX this autumn, and it’s going to be hard to wait another whole year – but in the meantime, to learn more on your own time about CS6 check out these 10 free downloadable e-books or 30 hours of free online video tutorials.
One of the best aspects of MAX is the major presentations and announcements are webcast live, and most of the rest of the talks and lectures are offered later on-demand. The sessions from 2011 are still available for viewing and are another fantastic free resource (see the list) for learning about these tools.
