I have a student version of CS4 Web Premium, will this serial work for this download? I have the serial, just can’t find the software, and we had to replace a bad hard drive.
Yes, it should work Dea – the software is always the same (even with the trials), it’s just the licensing terms which change with the student editions.
I am trying to download the CS3 Production Premium and keep getting an error page??? I have the serial number, but I need the software for my new laptop.
Sorry you’re having difficulties Robin. What exact message are you getting? Are you carefully following the step-by-step download instructions near the top of this page?
Have you tried it with a different web browser or computer, or Internet connection? (avoid Wi-Fi)
I am logged in to Adobe with my details, but this link still does not work for me. I just get the good old HTML 404 message.
I have now tried with Safari, Chrome and Firefox. All I want is the setup.app for CS4 Design Standard, I have all the files and my serial number – it is just my setup.app that is corrupted. It should not be this hard.
Hi Odille, have you followed the important directions we gave above the links? It won’t work at all unless you make sure to carefully do that.

I am attempting to download the CS4 Design Premium, and I have the original serial number for a copy I have previously bought. I have logged in to my account, clicked on the link in the instructions and clicked ‘download now’ (though I am uncertain whether I actually need to download the “Acrobat XI Pro”, or if that is just to make sure you are signed into your account), and have come back here to click the links. When I try to download by clicking on the link, it starts off as it should and goes along with no problems. Until it reaches 864.4 MB, at which point it stops downloading completely and won’t continue, no matter how long I wait. I have already attempted to download it many times already, and the downloading process always halts at the same exact point.
I’m not sure what is preventing the trial CS4 Design Premium from completely downloading. I’ve just gotten a new computer, and would love to be able to use the Photoshop CS4 and Flash CS4 I have on my previous computer on this one as well!
Hey there Julie, the reason for Step 1 with Acrobat Pro is simply to set Adobe’s session cookie onto your browser, nothing more. One that’s done, you should have full access to any direct link.
Not sure why your download is stopping, everything’s fine on our end – have you got enough disk space? Are you trying to use Wi-Fi? If so, try a wired connection for better reliability.
You could also try it on your other computer, and/or with another web browser, to see how you make out. You can always transfer the installer files between systems after the download.
I have followed the instructions for downloading Design Premium CS4 for Mac and although the .dmg downloaded fine, I was unable to open it due to the disc image not being recognised… is this a common problem?

Yes, they do.
Seems that, for many of us, they don’t. The result is a 404 error (/support/downloads/dlm/main.jsp). Logged in. Cookie set. I don’t know how you would get a server to say a file is not found if the file is there. To the best of my knowledge, if a file is not found, it is not found.

Hello Thomas, you just have to carefully follow the download instructions given near the top of this page, and you will likely have no problem. Otherwise you are likely to get a ‘file not found’ or ‘access denied’ message.
If after that point, you’re still having difficulties, then try with a different web browser or computer, or Internet connection.
When I try to extract the file ADBESTDSCS4_LS1 (Adobe CS4 Design Premium) I get the following error message:
“A problem occurred while extracting the archive. Please try downloading the Adobe CS4 Design Premium again.”
Do you know the fix for this?

I cannot get it to work either. Trying to download the CS4 trial because I have a Power PC Mac at home. All CS4 Mac files go to an error page for me. Please advise, thanks!
Just tested a bunch of them again, and they all work fine on our end – fast and problem-free downloads.

I tried again reading the instructions and it worked as well. Apologies for jumping to conclusions there. Yes, anyone having problems it is likely that you just aren’t logged in with an Adobe account like I wasn’t.

As I start the downloaded InDesign program, it inquires for a valid serial number of the product. I installed the Product Trial for InDesign CS4. Did I do something wrong or missed something?
No Galina, if you’ve never had the CS4 trial on your system before, then you should alternatively be able to choose a button that says “start 30-day product trial” when you first run the program.

I have some very, very old AE project files that I would like to be able to open. My current AE is CS6. Is there any way I can find After Effects 7? Are there trial versions still around?
From what I have seen online, AE 7 can open AE 4 and 5 projects.
No, that is way too old for us to “stock” here, and we haven’t seen a safe and legitimate version anywhere else – sorry Glenn…
You might take a look on Adobe’s FTP server for old and assorted software, but digging around there is really recommended for experts only!
Hi! I have successfully downloaded the files with no issues. However, when I try to run the first (or second) .exe file, Adobe just extracts them, but then nothing happens. What am I missing? Am I supposed to download something to handle the 7z file?
Hey Emily, look on your computer’s Desktop for a new ‘Adobe’ folder… That’s where all the package files were extracted to… The CS installer executable should be located in there, so just run that to install the free trial.

Someone at my internship used the computer already for a trial version. How can I use a trial version as well?
Hi LJ, you can’t use the same computer for the same trial version (each is allowed only once per system), but you can use a newer release instead, or another machine…

I was told that AE CS4 could still open up old files. Since my AE projects are VERY old (circa 2000-2003), I downloaded the trial version of AE CS3. AE CS3 opened up my old projects with no problems. I think the only negative would be that it is the 30-day trial. Since I own a legal license for an educational CS6 Master Suite, can I use that serial ID number to get the trial AE CS3 working as a fully-licensed product?
AE CS3 opened up my old projects – the only problem I had was that when I originally archived those old projects I didn’t save ALL of the source materials and elements!
Glad you got your files opened Glenn. Each release is different though, the serial number for one version won’t activate another (either older or newer). So no, your CS6 license key will not work for CS4 or CS3.
However, there is another way that is recommended. Use the free trial you downloaded to re-save all your old project files into CS3 or CS4 format… Then, the latest ‘CC’ tools (and/or CS6) should be able to open those updated CS3/CS4 format files.
And you can take it from there.

Hi Akeel, these are the free trial versions and you don’t need a serial number to download, install, or run them free for 30 days…
For running software permanently: If you don’t own CS3 or CS4, then you have to contact Adobe for any serial numbers for current products like CS6 or CC.

I had the same thing happen the first time I tried to download the trial version of AE CS3. If you check the file size, I would bet that it doesn’t match the size of the file listed here. The download is huge and takes a long time, so there are many chances for the it to be interrupted or damaged.
The second time I attempted the download, I baby-sat it, checking it often. The second attempt worked fine. I think the thing that may have corrupted the first try was my computer going into “sleep” mode in the middle of it. When I noticed that had happened, I “awakened” the computer and the download continued for the installation files that didn’t work.

Sorry, we don’t have those available – but these files are coming directly from Adobe’s servers so if your download and installation went smoothly then you should have no problem.
