  2. I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. In the product box it has both Windows and Mac discs. I’ve recently changed from a Thinkpad (Windows) to a Macbook. But the new Macbook has no DVD drive…

Where do I go to download Elements so that I can use my existing box product key and not have to repurchase a digital version?

  3. I own Adobe Photoshop Elements. I recently had to upgrade to Windows 8 and this product is no longer compatible because it requires Internet Explorer 4.0 and greater. This is no longer available. Is there any way I can get an updated copy?
I feel a bit mad that I paid for a program that is no longer compatible with technology. Could you suggest the closest match? With so many changes I have no idea what is comparable.
    Many thanks. -Karen

  4. I’ve received Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 & Adobe Premiere Elements 11 as a gift. I would like to know if this course would be OK for someone who has never used this software and is starting from scratch with no Photoshop experience? I guess I’m asking if it would be to technical. Thanks

  5. Good morning,

I have PSE 11 and the Organizer. I have been using the software for a while…but when I went to get photos from the Organizer today…they are all gone. When I tried the ‘reconnect’ function…it does not link back to the photos…and will spend the whole day ‘searching’. Can you please help me find my pictures? Thanks.

  6. Hello,

In Photoshop 11 when I try to use the copy tool instead of making a copy of what I click on, the part I want it to copy it makes a copy of the whole picture.

Did I click on something to make it do this?

    Thanks
    Robert

  7. Hi,

I am trying to learn PS Elements 11 and wondered what video tutorials you think are the best. I have watched the freebies by Adobe. I am not good on the computer, and need one that is VERY thorough. I found that the Adobe ones skipped over a lot of features, and were quite fast-moving. I don’t mind paying a bit. Your recommendations are very much appreiated!

  8. I have been using Elements for years but am having trouble putting text on a pic in Elements 11. It’s a gradual fade of the letters so that only the first couple really appear. I do have the picture in a vignette form. Is that the problem ? Can’t seem to figure it out.

    • Welcome Norman, Adobe does provide free downloadable ebooks for Photoshop Elements 11, but the video tutorials linked on this page are streamed and not offered as downloads.

Still, you may possibly find a third-party solution to allow you to download online videos to your desktop computer generally, although we haven’t tried one here in particular.

  10. Hi, I’ve never used Photoshop before and need to remove people out of some photos – could you tell me which version I would need and where to find out how to do this please?

    Thanks

    • Hello Tracey, the answer to that would depend on a lot of things. In particular, the size and complexity of the photo, the background, the subject you want to remove, and so on. Every photo is different.

If you think you could manually recreate the background (what’s behind the person you’re removing) or if the person is very small in the image, then you might be able to use a tool like Photoshop Elements.

But by far the easiest would be to use the full Photoshop CS6 or CC with the Content-Aware Fill feature, which will magically erase just about anything and automatically synthesize what should be behind.

See some amazing examples of usage here (before & after).

  11. I have just watched a youtube tutorial by which 2 exposures were taken of a landscape using the spot meter in a DSLR camera. One exposed for the foreground another exposed for for the sky. after these photos were edited on a PS CS5 model, where they were combined using layer masks, also aligned to eliminate any camera movement during exposure. After combined into one shot, paintbrush techniques were applied to shade sky and highlight the foreground.

My question is can I duplicate this process with my PS Elements 11? If not is there any alternative w/ my PS Elements 11. Any info without having to purchasing another version would be greatly appreciated.

    • Hi Vincent, something like that is dead-easy in the full Photoshop (CS6, CC, etc.) because of the capabilities of Auto Align Layers and Auto Blend Layers, which Photoshop Elements does not have

The complete Photoshop also has the HDR Pro and HDR Toning features which take it a step further and do even more with multiple exposures.

So what you describe may be possible to a limited extent in Elements but would take longer and not produce the same results or be as exact.

See all the differences between Photoshop vs. Elements.

  12. Submitting this second inquiry because I may have omitted to identify in the box below to notify me of any follow-up. Thanks for any help.

  13. Hello, and thank you for a great site.
I would like to be able to download all the tutorials on PSE 11 to my iPad 3 so I can watch on there and work on my Mac, is this possible ???

Also, I have a project in mind in which I want to photograph a very old framed map (400 years old) which has browned through age.
Then I want to increase the resolution so I can get it printed onto canvas to a size of 3 meters wide x 2 meters long.
Are you able to point me along the correct road ???

I am an older guy who doesn’t know 10% of what I think I know ???, so help is VERY necessary.

    Hope you can help,
    Regards,
    Norman Parke

    • Welcome back Norman, we answered your question about downloading Adobe tutorial videos previously above.

Regarding taking a photo of an old map and increasing the resolution – you can not in any version of Photoshop really increase the resolution of an image more than what your camera gives you.

In other words, it will be your camera that decides your pixels, not Photoshop. Look for a higher megapixel camera for greater number of dots-per-inch. Of course, the image quality the camera produces also matters too.

Last month we picked up a Nikon Coolpix P310 just for portable use, and are really pleased with the fidelity of the images it creates for a relatively inexpensive compact camera.

So Photoshop (either Elements or standard) can always decrease the number of pixels in an image, or crop a photo – but it can’t accurately add more resolution where it doesn’t already exist.

  14. Thank you for the follow up on PS Elements 11 capability to accomplish what PS CS5 does on combining 2 exposures shot w/ spot meter, 1 of sky plus 1 shot of foreground using auto-align plus auto-blend.

My other question is can PS CS6 student/teacher achieve this process?

    • Yes, Adobe Photoshop Elements should work fine with all digital drawing tablets like those from Wacom Bamboo, etc. – just make sure your tablet driver software and PSE product are up to date.

  17. I am wondering how to take a color photo and turn it black & white then choose one spot and turn it color? I have Photoshop Elements 11.

    • Not sure why Monica… What is the problem or difference? It works fine for us.

You may have a different version than shown in the tutorial, but it should generally function the same.
